There was a glut of fucking brilliant bands that really surged during the 90s; Jawbreaker, Sunny Day Real Estate, Fugazi, Texas Is The Reason, At the Drive-In, people like that. They pretty much make a mockery of a lot of what's happening now. Especially in the UK - MAN our music scene is total shit at the moment.

Jawbreaker sucked. Sunny Day Real Estate was unfairly lumped in with them, when they were so much better. Jawbreaker used a lot of pop hooks in their music, where SDRE took emopunk & mixed it, w/ grunge & alternative sounds.

Why is it always some young poser(drawn into Jawbreaker b/c of his current obsession w/ "emo" pop bullshit, no doubt)that thinks he "knows" the music, when he barely existed back then? Sunny day real estate was great;. Their guitar work, song structure etc was GREAT. THey actually COMBINED styles of embrace, rites of spring, etc. w/ grunge music. THey weren't some whiny novelty pop-emo garbage. Try doing some research & actually listen to real music). Come back & argue when your balls drop, Jr.!

Arguing on the internet is a sure way to prove that you're right. SDRE were, admittedly, a lot more whiny than Jawbreaker, though. I love both bands, but Sunny really just seemed like a bunch of overblown teenage angst. And there's nothing wrong with pop, catchyness is not a crime!

I don't disagree w/ your opinion (regarding arguing on the internet). Maybe I shouldn't have said anything. I just find JB annoying. However, SDRE was better technicaly & way more original. Poppy myusic is a crime, if ppl are trying to elevate it above true musicianship.
