Yes, the "hyphenated word" in question is, in fact, "good-bye," which is always hyphenated. Natalie even uses the word in the chorus: "So if you're gonna say GOOD-BYE, don't take all damn night...." This gem has got to be one of the most up-tempo songs about an impending break-up ever!

Actually the words are not "don't take all damn night" they're "don't take all day and night".

Although the Oxford Dictionary hyphenates good-bye, the American Heritage Dictionary does not. Good-bye would be the more antiquated spelling of the word as it originates from the word Godbwye, which means God Be With You.
