For some reason i get the relic but it doesnt appear in my inventory and i went to the statue and i still had only two iron bars. Anyone else experience this?
In the video in the last pillar with lion heads i have blockers between them, unlike you. There is a ring on one of them but am unable to hook it.. will do some more tries but am not really finding this fun. Just repetitive and damn boring...
If you pause immediately after flipping the switch and save your game there, then you will be able to load your game if you mess up. This saved me many times when I fell in the water on my way over there. Because there is a checkpoint at the switch you will start there when you load your saved game and then all you have to do is flip the switch before starting your timed obstacle course to the retrieve the relic.
The problem with this level isn't just that they changed the name from "Palace Midas", but also that they spelt it wrong! It should be "Midas' Palace". If a name ends with S then you just put an apostrophe, stupid CrystalDynamics. LOL
No. The given time is the same in all difficulties. The difference between the difficulty modes is how much health Lara loses from the drops, enemy attacks etc.
This means that you are probably out of time. Once you use the switch and raise the pillar, you have about 50 seconds to reach the pillar and grab the Relic before the pillar sinks.
Or, if you play the level for a second time and you got the Relic the first time through the game, the Relic cannot be there (your profile stores the Artifacts and Relics you have got).
Right i have got to say this game is really starting to do my head in. The check-point thing is completly SHiPE. If i fall in the water i have to die becasue if i go back up to the top i have to go to the lever again becasue it does a check-point at the beginning. Is there anyway of turning the check-point off and just save your game instead. it would be a lot quicker than starting from the beginning!!!!!
You cannot turn the Checkpoints off. You can only save MANUALLY the location of the Checkpoints.
There is a Checkpoint when you get the Lead Bar. You can save your game there and load it when you fail. From this point (where the Lead Bar was) you can do a shortcut and reach the switch quicker.

Carry a few medipacks and just run right through the flames if you have to. You only have 50 seconds to get it once you activate the switch before the pillar lowers again.
This timed run is so frustrating to do. It'd be a lot easier if the camera didn't need to be adjusting every time Lara changes direction. In TR8 they should make the camera fixed on Lara's back rather than free to move.
Yeah I completely agree about the camera thing, it was quite annoying witht he centaurs as well when you're trying to focus on the one you want, but it chooses to look at the other lol.
Actually, the pillar goes down automatically once you collect the relic, did so with me.
This was difficult, once I pulled the switch I died, but managed to get the checkpoint by the pad which trips the fire off, however that did not work as the switch had reset when I respawned. Managed to do it on like my second timed attempt, pretty easy really, did take some damage but only had to use one medkit.

You must stand on the right edge to get to hook the ring, you can't do it on the left one. I had the same problem.

the saving system in this game is one main reason for me to uninstall it. I can't stand checkpoint based savegames. They tend to mess your gameplay.

i have a slight problem. i my grapple wont reach the iron on the pillar (looked at a guide and i was at the right spot)
so i have to wait for the flames and therefore i cant reach it in time.. wierd

Beware not to trigger the checkpoint in the entrance to the room. I think it will immediately lower the relic
