You don't lose that Crema-Crown and the taste is much- much richer.
I even go as far as to introduce the sugar into the hot water before pulling the shot; this way the finished drink appears more like a traditional Espresso.
To me that's what separates "Gourmet," from Traditional drip grind.

Now I'm no expert, so please forgive me if I came off that way. I was just reading my comments. I sounded arrogant.
I heard of this method from the newsgroups and Ive been doing it this way ever since.
As a matter of fact I drink noting but Americanos (and an occasional Mocha, I pull the shot into the cocoa solution, then add the steamed milk.)
They are soo addicting!!
