SZC report clearly suggests Nanking city was almost perfectly safe for civilians. SZC also recorded the population change for the purpose of rationing foods. It was 200,000 at the fall of Nanking then 3 months later 250,000. 50,000 difference coincides with the number of Chinese plain cloth soldiers there.

Despite these attempts, the wounded opened fire. Some blew themselves up. None would surrender. All died. Another time captured a badly wounded Japanese and tried to bring him back for treatment. He bit off his tongue as he lay on on the stretcher and drowned in his own blood! That was the culture back then!

Living with shame was considered as bad manner if one could not erase shame by honorable achievement one should kill oneself. When American troops made landing at Saipan, Japanese Defense force left the cities in order to avoid destruction of these which would cause civilian casualties. Surrendered women were ripped naked, then loaded on a truck and taken somewhere never return. Old civilians were gathered and shot in a hole.

Both sides of the POW march line were surrounded by ordinary Filipino locals. POW could escape very easy. Further, there exists photos which show sea bathing of POW, Japanese soldier serving tea to POW, and so forth.

About a million POW of Japanese soldiers were told to be taken to Japan but sent to Siberia instead. @kurthanson2005 POW were forced to walk about 100Km in one week, but Japanese soldier walked the same distance with full equipment. The difference between the number of POW at the start of the march and the end was considered as dead by Allied forces. Over 7,000 type of books were burnt by GHQ soon after the war end, but thousands of books survived secretly and some of them have photos which prove Japanese soldier treated POW well beyond the standard of Hague Convention.

@elarrebat I've researched modern crematoriums to compare ones in Auschwitz and found out that Crematorium in Auschwitz didn't have capability to deal with death rate beyond natural. Also found is that even in a modern day furnace requires 40L of Diesel Oil to burn single body. Burning bodies in open field requires three times or more of the fuel. Germany didn't have such fuel for sure. In addition, estimating amount of coal or coke which brings equivalent effect to Diesel Oil isn't difficult.

Okinawans spoke their own language and had a unique their culture. Okinawan language and culture today is analogous to Welsh in UK. In the past, they were an "inferior people" in Japanese eyes. What Lindbergh wrote in the book is exactly coincide with the image of American soldiers in Saipan story. The title of the book is "The Wartime Journals of Charles A. Lindbergh". There is still no valid evidence available for the Saipan story yet; however, the book give us pretty enough suspicion about the morale and ethics of American soldiers.
As far as I know, the only peace overtures the Japanese made were through the Soviets, months after Saipan fell, as a potential intermediary. Stalin, of course, ignored this. He had his own plans. People of Okinawa knew what happened to refugees of Saipan because they were mainly from Okinawa. Japanese military also knew that allies were reluctant to take POW. There were no choice but fought till death to save Japanese future. Meanwhile, America wanted to test Nukes anyway. Probably you don't know about Saipan refugees but Bansai criff story.
@moontokyo Japan's conditions for a surrender was that they should be allowed to keep Korea, Taiwan and Manchuria. That pretty much is a message saying "We'll surrender, but we'll still keep the ground we stole by force". That is far from acceptable and shows they still had ambitions to rule through brutality. Not to mention that the hardcore factions in the military refused to surrender at all - and they had considerable influence over Hirohito's decisions.

Anyone know if this movie shows the Japanese Army shooting Okinawan civilians who were surrendering to the American's? SZC report clearly suggests Nanking city was almost perfectly safe for civilians. SZC also recorded the population change for the purpose of rationing foods. It was 200,000 at the fall of Nanking then 3 months later 250,000. 50,000 difference coincides with the number of Chinese plain cloth soldiers there.

moontokyo. There was a Japanese hospital with over 100 Japanese wounded on Okinawa. My dad's company, through the Nisei interpreters, tried so hard to convince them to surrender. Despite these attempts, the wounded opened fire. Some blew themselves up. None would surrender. All died. Another time captured a badly wounded Japanese and tried to bring him back for treatment. He bit off his tongue as he lay on on the stretcher and drowned in his own blood! That was the culture back then!

Living with shame was considered as bad manner if one could not erase shame by honorable achievement one should kill oneself. Also, committing suicide has been considered as not a bad manner, rather, far better than being killed with bad manner. These tradition has been Americanized, today.

When American troops made landing at Saipan, Japanese Defense force left the cities in order to avoid destruction of these which would cause civilian casualties. That was Japanese ordinary battle manner. What happened was cruel atrocities of American soldiers toward civilians. Surrendered women were ripped naked, then loaded on a truck and taken somewhere never return. Old civilians were gathered and shot in a hole.

Both sides of the POW march line were surrounded by ordinary Filipino locals. POW could escape very easy. Further, there exists photos which show sea bathing of POW, Japanese soldier serving tea to POW, and so forth.

About a million POW of Japanese soldiers were told to be taken to Japan but sent to Siberia instead. Half of them died in Siberia because of starvation and cold meanwhile Russian soldiers had foods and warmth.

The difference between the number of POW at the start of the march and the end was considered as dead by Allied forces. Over 7,000 type of books were burnt by GHQ soon after the war end, but thousands of books survived secretly and some of them have photos which prove Japanese soldier treated POW well beyond the standard of Hague Convention.

@elarrebat I've researched modern crematoriums to compare ones in Auschwitz and found out that Crematorium in Auschwitz didn't have capability to deal with death rate beyond natural. Also found is that even in a modern day furnace requires 40L of Diesel Oil to burn single body. Burning bodies in open field requires three times or more of the fuel. Germany didn't have such fuel for sure. In addition, estimating amount of coal or coke which brings equivalent effect to Diesel Oil isn't difficult.

Okinawans spoke their own language and had a unique their culture. Okinawan language and culture today is analogous to Welsh in UK. In the past, they were an "inferior people" in Japanese eyes. This prejudice is today much reduced today. Everyone there reads, speaks and writes Japanese. Okinawa was the hardest fight of the Pacific War, and both sides did lots of harm to the locals.

What Lindbergh wrote in the book is exactly coincide with the image of American soldiers in Saipan story. The title of the book is "The Wartime Journals of Charles A. Lindbergh". There is still no valid evidence available for the Saipan story yet; however, the book give us pretty enough suspicion about the morale and ethics of American soldiers.

As far as I know, the only peace overtures the Japanese made were through the Soviets, months after Saipan fell, as a potential intermediary. Stalin, of course, ignored this. He had his own plans. I know of no peace attempt by the Japanese government directly to the US. I dare say, had anyone tried, I suspect he would have been murdered by the militarists. Can you give me some facts to check? People, dates, times for me to research. Thanks

Title is "The origin of the Japanese race based on genetic markers of immunoglobulin G By Hideo MATSUMOTO" In addition, Okinawan dialects became strong about 1,700 years ago, at that time Okinawan and Kyushu people spoke almost same.way.

Japanese cannot say "no" to authority figures. After Saipan and Guam fell to America, the Japanese admirals and generals all knew that the war was lost. But none of them dared inform the war cabinet or His Majesty. They let the war continue and allowed their country to be destroyed. Moral weaklings who were fearless in battle. What a strange and wonderful people they are!

@Bluelight57th You don't know how hardly Japan tried to end the war. Allied forces never accepted any conditions, but "unconditional surrender". People of Okinawa knew what happened to refugees of Saipan because they were mainly from Okinawa. Japanese military also knew that allies were reluctant to take POW. There were no choice but fought till death to save Japanese future. Meanwhile, America wanted to test Nukes anyway. Probably you don't know about Saipan refugees but Bansai criff story.

@moontokyo Japan's conditions for a surrender was that they should be allowed to keep Korea, Taiwan and Manchuria. That pretty much is a message saying "We'll surrender, but we'll still keep the ground we stole by force". That is far from acceptable and shows they still had ambitions to rule through brutality. Not to mention that the hardcore factions in the military refused to surrender at all - and they had considerable influence over Hirohito's decisions.
