Thanks everyone for your concern. Please note how old this video is. I have put up many systems since this one and the electronics are off the floor.:)
This is extremely dangerous, you never put a ballast on the floor. You might as well just toss a running hair dryer into a bathtub. Does wine prevent people from electrocution? Fire?
Maybe you should take this video down until you get safer with your knowledge.
My apologies to all those I have offended and there appear to be quite a few. My purpose is not to piss any one off. I'm sorry for that. Some times my writing sounds kinda snooty, if I can use that word. I didn't mean any offense to anyone, just wanted to add a suggestion. My hydro isn't all that.. so, I'm here to learn to. Again. My apologies to all who were offended.
You're a fucken genius!! I was looking all over town for something similar to the expensive drain table and found it from your response to another viewer.
Hey bro ask yourself why most wine bottles are dark answer is sunlight penatration hence yes it does effect your wine.Get your ballast off the floor! You have your grom in the middle of a furnace and a water heater both at different temperatures that are not good for plants you had terrible problems this grow huh.I encourage you to try again try a closet like the weed heads.
hey man how did everything work out? one thing i noticed is that drain looks like it would leave pools of water in the grow tray. if you let that happen your plants will not be happy. the nutrient salts will build up when the pools of water evaporate away and you're left with super rich nutrient that is toxic to your plants. take it from someone who learned the hard way. good luck!
I've made wine for over 30 years and know from experience that the aroma in wine is adversely affected by even fairly short exposure to UV light. Just cover your fermentation jar and put up some kind of thickish screen infront of the wine racks :-)
Yes get it off the floor just a couple of 2 by 4 and a board would do. Water wicks up through concrete and when it is colder then room it condenses moisture. When electricity and water get together there may be trouble. You don’t want to become a conductor.
Yes def get your ballast off the floor and try to mount it on the wall. Other thing, stop touching your bulbs! the oils make hot spots and severly shorten the life of your bulb. Get some good strong alcohol and wipe that baby back down. I use electronic wipes from walmart whenever I have to touch anything..
Where did you get that flood table the plastic containers at home depot are not that big and I don't feel like paying 65.00 for one at my local hydro store thanks :)
Yeah dude. Definitely keep the ballast and strips off the floor. Even if you put them on a little table. And those Sure to Grow cubes are garbage. I've used them. Horrible. Use rockwool. And instead of perlite, use expanded clay pellets. The perlite will float, and it won't work that great. But overall, nice little setup.
very true about the wine. Wine needs to be kept in the dark and in a cool place. Hydroponics needs humidity and bright lights...wines natural enemy! lol
@hungryhunter1234 is the concern water getting on it? Where do you recommend the ballast be placed? Just elevated? I was a bit concerned about the power strips on the floor as well.
@slanesteve yeah. flood and drain systems can over flow and flood the room. generally keep your electric stuff above knee level and you should be fine
Should have said, "Mmmmm"

@JPZOOYORK I picked it up at Lowes. It's a concrete mixing basin. They're relatively cheap...I think somewhere around 15-20 bucks.
