By no means do I support this idea of Islamic regime - but regardless of that Iran has been devloping nuclear technology in order to be able to produce their own technolody to refine their oil, instead of relying on outside sources - there is always a threat of sanctions.

First of all, when this dumb fuck spews anecdotal verbiage about how the "real scholars" escaped the country after the revolution, it shows she has little to no knowledge of what went wrong in Iran. Most of these people were simply cohorts of the Shah regime that left the country and the majority of "scholars" actually stayed because they wanted a piece of the pie of the revolution. Of course the Khomeini didn't hesitate to eliminate all the rivals in a brutal fashion.

In late 90's when the reformists took over and the social restrictions eased up, instead of taking advantage of the moment to push for a wider social and political freedom, young people indulged themselves in drugs and alcohol over-consumption and called it "freedom."

As soon as a student movement took shape, it was suppressed violently. No one was after to promote the basic human rights such as freedom of speech, press, and expression but busy exploring their newly found freedom which happened to be extrinsically superficial. Same with the Shah, although people were not socially under oppressive measures as much as they are under the new regime, the freedom of expression and assembly wasn't as prominent as many wish to taunt.

If you learn history properly you will discover that the Shah and his puppet regime were placed in Teheran by the CIA after they deposed Mossadeq, the democratically elected leader of Iran.
In the 1950's, the US and Britain destroyed democracy in Iran to install the Shah, who sold them cheap oil. Mossadeq had wanted to nationalise the oil industry and raise the standard of living in Iran.
