i have a crush on a girl who uses a pump, i literally knew nothing about diabetes/pumps/insulin and your videos gave a real-life explanation to it (ie better than wikipedia) keep it up ill be watching. maybe do a general diabetes video?
dude can i take off the insulin pump while i got to the gym cause its gona be bothersome and in some excersises i might break it and its freakn expensive,or it can get wet too
hey am i the only one that gets like really embarrased when my insulin pump beeps in school and everyone looks at me and asks me if i have a cell phone?
I am fairly new to my pump (Animas Ping) AND I absolutely love it. Been on it for 8.5 months, I've been Type 1 since 1962. In the past I've had a very difficult problem with severe hypos, BUT since pumping I haven't had one and I now feel when my BG goes into the 50's. There is nothing that I do not like about my pump, NADA.
My son has type 1 diabetes. he gets 4 shots per day. we have been interested in the pump for 1. stop the needle poking 4 times per day. and the freedom eating what he likes as a kid. the only thing we worry about is that he is 5 years old and plays hard with his brothers and we don't want the tube to pop free.
thanky ihappy diabetic what happens the first time when you get the pump does it hurt ??? plese can you make a vdeo about it thanyou sooo much for all your help now i cant wit to get the pump now !!!!
LMAO. I kept trying to find the Diabetic of the Day's channel, but I KEPT PUTTING AN I INSTEAD OF AN L! LMAO. It doesn't matter if you put a capital or lowercase L, it's ALWAYS going to be lowercase when you type it. LOL.
I can totally relate to your comment. My avoidance of the pump solution bring me to take 3 different insulins during a single day, about 7- 10 injections yet I still have #'s that need improvment. Its about time to wave the white flag and go to the pump. I realize, with sadness, that to better my future health I must make the change. Having a hard time with a thought of having something attached, but as "Happy" says, you'll get use to it.
Good Luck in your decision, I so know how hard it is.
Great comment. You know I was in your boat. Testing my BG a ton, doing 8-10 shots a day (stopped counting). It was crazy and god forbid I forgot my insulin, shots, or BG meter... I was lost. The pump brings everything thing together and lessens the mental load of diabetes for me. I can't forget my insulin anymore, its in my pocket :-) It makes eating and problem solving in bad BG situations easier to manage. Thanks again!
thanks for doing these video's. they are great and some of the things i have never really knew about until i watch these. i have been a diabetic for 19 years so i have learned a lot of things over the years and i think it's awesome that you are sharing some of the tricks of the trade that i have also learned. gone are the days of pork insulin. haha
oh, when there is any possible ting wrong the alarm will sound. also when your resevoir is empty it makes the same alarm. would you like not having tubing? or wearing a pump around your belt/pocket?
No thats a good question. Personal choice really, both are good. My tubing isn't bother for me. I am sure I could get used to the Pod structure as well, maybe better for that. But pumps are more then just how they are attached to you. Good points, those can be reasons why the Pod is so Good.
i am agree i change my site 3 days apart. as you may know the pod is wireless. when the pod fails its like what maxifmmm said. it beeps but i am a heavy sleeper so my mom or who is ever incharge listening for the fail. what do u mean by pumped blocked? thanks d103cc
Blocked or Bloackage is the alarm when insulin isn't getting to the site. There is a blockage in the tubing or site so the pump alarms Blockage Detected.
when the pod fails it goes bbbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeeeppppp its like a ringing sound. actually it just failed last night and i did not wake up to it i went above 500 and had ketones. what does "pump blocked" mean?
hey bill, i am 14 i have had the pod for one great year. i like the ability of leaving the pdm in the kitchen and going somewhere w/out it. i hate pod failings but have only had6 in 13 months
d103cc, How do you know when you Pd fails? What is it like? Could you share a story about it. I know what it is like to have my Pump Blocked and what happens. How is it detected on the Pod? THanks in advance
Hi, Just wanted to say thanks again for all the pump info, I'm looking to go on a pump in the next month or two and all the info really helps. Also,, just a shot out for Caleb, I have seen all his videos too,, hes great.. Well I look forward to getting on my pump so I can share as well.
Thanks for the comment. I've always said with diabetes, its hard to switch from something that works to something that works better. Hopefully this pump is that "works better" for you!
I like my pump because it makes my diabetes easier to manage. No more having to take multiple shots and bringing my insulin everywhere I go. I am more likely now to deliver insulin for those little snacking moments :-)
Ahhh what i don't like, well it's all relative my friends. Sure the tubing isn't natural and I have an extra cellphone sized device in my pocket. But no one really notices it, and forget it's there. Wearing a pump as made me own my diabetes. A constant reminder too though
Been on my OmniPod Pump for about a month. It's going well and I love the freedom. As you said my Dr has made many adjustments and still have more to come trying to get my levels to even out. I love the OmniPod software that downloads my complete history and displays it in spreadsheet form, I fax or email to my Dr, saves me from writing it all to send to Dr. I'm having surgery next week for kidney stones, be interesting to see how that goes with my pump. Your vids are GREAT. Matt
I like my insulin pump because it's really small and I can run around with it. I also like that I can swim with it. I just don't like when we have to change it because sometimes it hurts. I have not gone back to shots and don't plan to! Thanks for making me diabetic of the day! You rock!
Your totally welcome little buddy. Thanks for the input. Taking a swim with the omnipod is less risky for sure. Worst case you switch the pod, with some of the other pumps you could lose your whole device to a water leak.
I echo the other comments here...great video(s)! Thank you.

I use the Cleo 90 9mm sets now. But I like the Animas Insets. I use them too, they seem to stick a little better.

What has been the biggest help to you in the way you manage you DIabetes? What advice would you give to someone who has had diabetes for 2 years?
