The police and parole officers who couldn't find Jaycee even though she was right under their noses deserve humiliation and degradation. I now have more respect for campus police thanks to the young officers who solved this case. Sadly, it could have and should be solved many years before. The police and parole officers who couldn't find Jaycee even though she was right under their noses deserve humiliation and degradation. I now have more respect for campus police thanks to the young officers who solved this case. Sadly, it could have and should be solved many years before. Jaycee looks healthy and good for some one who was held captive for 18 years.When the police questioned her she claimed her name was "Alyssa" and said her daughters were her sisters and that Garrido was good to her she told pole she needed a lawyer and finally cracked after the cops interrogated her. she also had pets there as well. so I'm thinking maybe she had a bad home life and voluntarily went with. either way he still committed a crime.

I cannot believe some people are actually saying Jaycee is dumb for not escaping and is at fault for what happened to her. First of all, she did have children. Even if she could escape, she was probably too worried about them. Second, there were two people holding Jaycee captive: Garrido and his wife. Both may have abused her severely. Bottom line is: All that matters now is that Jaycee is back with her family and Garrido will now suffer.

Read a bit more about kidnapper-bonding syndromes like 'Stockholm'. When kids like Hornbeck and Dugard remain terrified about escaping, even after many years, demonstrates the depth of the abuse & effect on their psyches. Being raped & forced to have kids at 13yrs is another huge factor here. Can you see the idiot in the mirror?

today i watched an interview with shawn hornbick the boy who was kidnapped for almost 5 years,when he was asked why you didn't escape when you have the chance?his answer was ( i was scared ) but the problem is the kidnapper used to work for about 9 hours everyday,and the boy wasn't locked on ,sometimes he was outside with the neighbours playing video games

All animals(humans included) have survival mechanisms, victims of kidnap (specially children) can develop sympathy for the kidnapper, otherwise, they'd go totally insane ,could you stand years of rape & isolation without hope in your right mind? most people will end up beliving that is what they deserve, that the kidnapper cares for them. Anyways you cant understand that cos in your culture keeping woman locked at home for breeding is the norm and not an exceptional crime :)

What flyerscrazy's sayin' is that probably an 11 yr-old girl being held captive by a couple of sexual predators, and raped/molested regularly (and probably told if she were to escape, her entire family would be murdered or something terrifying like that), escaping would be hoped for but ultimately out of reach. Try to see this from a terrified child's eyes. Young Jaycee did well to survive. Who's to say she wasn't confined in the basement for a decade?

A lot of people who take the view that Jaycee 'enjoyed' her situation, wanted Garrido's kids, or was dumb because she didn't escape, are in the same WACKO category as the Garridos! Anyone who's had kids (especially daughters) can empathize with Jaycee and her mom/family, & can imagine the horror & tragedy of what Garrido did to Jaycee. If Jaycee was mine, I'd have gone crazy with rage... I couldn't live. Jaycee deserves tremendous credit for surviving her 18 yr ordeal & looking after her kids.

Lets make a mental exercise to help you understand, picture yourself when you were 11, remember the way you use to see the world, adults & authority, now imagine yourself getting kidnapped & raped by a vicious filthy piece of shit. Now is when your infitine stupidity would make u think "yeh so what I still would be exactly the same" but actually u wouldnt, u would be in total utterly fucking shock, at 11 ,u have no fucking idea how that would affect you psychologically.
