My accord does the same when starting. Takes forever to start when cold and kind of grinds. I have to give it some gas at first until it will idle to a warm up cuz if i dotn then the car just shuts off. After a while it finally would only turn over and not start. So it was the ignition coil. Thought that would fix it but i was wrong. Any other ideas?
i have a 91 honda with a cylinder that doesn't compress enough air there for doesn't work right makes a similar sound try pulling out one spark plug wire and monitor the engine rpm pulling out a spark plug will make it kinda hesitate to run thats normal but when you pull out a spark plug wire and nothing happens or the sound changes yet again thats the cylinder your looking for, doesn't hurt for a machanic to take a look either
how does the car operate while driving? mine has a misfire only while at idle, but while driving it super smooth. i think i may have a slightly bent pushrod from a prior valve adjustment (too tight) maybe your case?

Have you tried a valve adjustment? When is the last time you've changed your fuel filter?
