@allucard911 Vibra? Improv? Do you even know what makes music good? Neither of these things. I understand that you are entitled to your opinion, but if it's that poor, keep it to yourself! Both of those "features" are uninspired vocal qualities that are better suited to solo performances and pop/soul music.
Yes, it was a great performance - but that's all I got out of it. The first time I heard this performed, and I'll be dating myself, is when a Barbershop Harmony Society, then referred to as SPEBSQSA (no, not going to type it out), quartet named Joker's Wild did it in 1993. They released it on their album Right From the Start. Here's the link to the album: itunes.apple.com/us/album/right-from-the-start/id24412242 It's the last track and only a sample. Give it a listen.
These guys are freaking awesome. Listen to their No No Nora Cd or contest version. Talk about high notes...I love these men! I have them on my ipod every day!
Sunday, 10/16/11. What a sensation! It doesn't get any better than this. A great tenor makes me weak in the knees. Whew! Oh my goodness! Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap. Standing ovation.
I really wish that these guys still sang together! They are still probably my top quartet to date! Hearing them live was so amazing that I can't put it into words.
Mmmm, you'd do well to find a copy of some 'Musical Island Boys' CD's, they're amazing. In my opinion, the lead in their version gives a much nicer (less nasal) version. That being said, these guys rock!
Great song, and it's well done. But, I think the lead's needs to tone it down a bit - I think he's over singing the bass (imho). A great lead voice though.
Grace is God's divine working on the lost man, by giving repentance and giving faith to the lost man, therefore the bible teaches repentance and faith which are necessary for salvation but a lost man is incapable of producing good works.(Rom 3:23, Rom 3:10-12, Gal 5:19-21, Rom 8:5-8, etc), so God has to divinely give repentance and faith to the lost man, which is grace. Though Jesus died for sinners only grace enables a man to completly trust in Christ alone. Rom 5:15, Eph 2:8-9, Rom 11:6.
Dont know the name anymore.. Was Cleveland Highland Harmony.. I think its Chattanooga Scream Machine now.. Cleveland TN chapter.. I learned to sing BBS from the Guyton bro's.. Went to school with Chase : ) I hope all is well with them all!
Great stuff. You sing it as if you fully understand Horatio Spafford's agony and faith as he sailed over the watery grave of his four daughters after having only too recently buried his only son and lost his wealth in the Chicago fire. You either have to sing the song with passion or leave it alone. I say you got right!
@kghobbes These guys are absolute geniuses with the suspended chords like the one you reference. They have to be strong individual singers to do that, as you can't really get your note off of your neighbor if he's on some funny suspended note.
i absolutely love these guys! amazing! Completely agree with zcobryant too! People need to grow the hell up...I wish I was as talented as lester...sadly I am not....I dont hate him for it though :)
i love 4 voices! voices of lee to amazing too! everytime i see them it brings back memories when we used to hang out together at the international conventions! me and my brother used to follow them nd the riptide quartet around watching them sing till 2 am alot! amazing!
They are amazing. I wish I could have gotten to see them in concert. However, I missed convention when they performed and could not make it to the international convention.
I got to see them together last night at Lee as a part of the Voices of Lee 15th Anniversary. And then again this morning. Until last night they had not sang together for 3 years but they still have the God given talents. They were amazing.
Thank you very much for the video. I totally agree that the performance is amazing. I wish we could hear something like this here in Brazil where I am from. Could someone please post them singing "Lazy Bones"?

Oh no! They missed the third verse:
My sin - oh the bliss of this glorious thought
My son, not in part, but the whole
Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, it is will with my soul

you are not mistaken. Because the Tenor, Lester Rector has such a phenomenal full and head voice range, he does the lead for this part.
