  • I'm surprised Edward didn't make top

  • Another thing to add: don't pick a name that has a ton of possible spellings or is a nickname. My name is Abby. On my birth certificate, it says Abby. Not Abigail, not Abbey, not Abbie, not Abbi (who even spells it that way?). Please, save your child the trouble of having to specify which spelling you're using.

  • I'm Jakob. And I happen to be pretty awesome.

  • The top names were Jacob and Isabella. WHY.

  • Maybe I'll name my son's first name "John" or "Hank," and his middle name the other of the two.

  • My brother and sister in law named my niece "Abbygail" instead of "Abigail" because it would be "easier to use as a nickname." I don't know how many people have used this spelling, but it just seems really pointless and it makes me angry when I read it.

  • yale and malu all the way :)

  • I want twins which I'll call Harley and Quinn. :)

  • My surname is Wood. I'm definitely naming my child Morning.

  • isabella and jacob were the top two baby names? bloody twilight.

  • You know that memory trick where you associate and interesting thing with a bunch of boring crap so that when you recall the interesting thing in say a test or an essay all the boring but important crap comes with it........ Well that was the technique I used to pass the last modern history exam of year twelve...And the key detail that tied all the crap together?.... Was the name Andrew Peacock and his getting stuck in a riot in 1975...Who Hank just referenced....My life is complete ^ _ ^

  • There was kid in my middle school named Sam. His mother's name is Sally, but she goes by Sal. Their last name is Manilla.

    Salmonella. Two of them.

    Not joking. Wish I was.

  • I know someone named Ailona, but when you say it, it's pronounced A LONER....(foreveralone)

  • my sisters boyfriends name is Christopher Peacock

    Crispy C#*k

  • i was named ariana as apposed to the more common spelling arianna so even though my mother didnt want me to have a name with more letters that it really needed i have to spell it to everyone b/c if i dont they will add that extra n

  • Heh, you should name your baby after me (Forrest)

    :P

  • I was named Jean-Luc after Jean-Luc Pacard :)

(though I was going to be named Feyde (Dune))

  • @PressStartPiano I love your parents.

  • one of the producers of that 70s show was named Rob DisHotel

  • my parents named me jasperi pronounced Jasper E and its been the best name ever altho I've never had a teacher that said it right.

  • i shall call my child Gohan because it sounds like a legit name

  • my old computer teacher Mrs Bowls used to talk about her son named Harry, there is no way she would have realised haha

  • TAYLOR IS A TERRIBLE NAME.

there are, like, 9 taylors in my class and 4 of them are guys.

    >:[

  • My favourite name is "Chrix". It's not stupid, and it's just pronounced "Cricks".

  • my first born shall be named...... Batman Trouser Gynecologist. He shall be so happy

  • Hey! My full name is Ian Andrew Peacock. D:

    Don't hate, Hank... don't hate.

  • My mum named her kids Jessica, Lillian, Jack and Mason. In the years that she named us our names weren't in the most popular list. But the year after they were... Clearly my mother is the one who decides what names go on the list :P

  • I hate how my mother spells my name

  • I like the rule about avoiding the most popular names. I was named Brittany Nicole and in my graduating class there were two other Brittany Nicoles. Also, there was a girl born on the same day I was, a year earlier, with the name Brittany Nicole. :P In middle school and high school I basically stopped responding to my name when it was yelled cause I was never sure if it was me or one of the 10 girls named Brittany roaming the halls.

  • @bnpixie1990 My sister's name is Brittany Nicole.

  • @heytherelottie I think Hank is a nickname for William. In fact, I'm pretty sure it is. It's odd, though, like Dick being a nickname for Richard.

  • YOUR NAME IS WILLIAM?! this has all been a lie! well you definitely are more of a hank

  • I hate it when people are calles Ana (with just ONE(!!) n)

  • My name is spelled funny -_- I'm constantly going 'C-A-I- YES C-A-I'

  • Rule 9: Don't group names (You know, that 'cute' thing that parents try to do - especially with twins or triplets - where all the names are related to each other?) E.g. Do NOT name your three daughters Hope, Faith, and Grace, or Rose, Lily, and Violet, or April, May, and June, OR Holly, Ivy, and...and...MISTLETOE!

  • @TheSakuraSunset I'm super intrigued as to what your name and nickname are now...

  • My math teacher is named Harry Ball

  • My parents didn't watch this.

    1. My parents call me one name and my FULL name is another

    2. Both the nickname and full name are oddly spelled.

So not only can teachers not pronounce my name I don't even RESPOND to it when they get it right, so I look completely stupid.

I love my name, it's original, but seriously. You could have just named me what you wanted to call me.

Also, you forgot something in Rule 7. Don't name them after a month, especially if it's not the month they were born in.

  • @TheSakuraSunset I can fully relate to this, besides this both my original name and my nickname are names no one has herd of... EVER.

  • dude, Hank's name isn't Hank.... MY WORLD IS SLOWLY IMPLODING

  • 2:30 ..... i know this, my names Jesika...

  • My great grandma was called Olive Green

  • Additional rule: Name your child a name that NORMAL people can actually pronounce, so that your child doesn't have to come up with a new name to tell people. You failed, Mom.

  • My name is William and I call myself William, I'm the only William in my year guorp and probulby in my whole school who wants to be called William, not Will, not Bill, Willy etc...

  • My name is spelt differently.... I always have to spell it.... And tell people how to pronounce it. Mum, you failed. -_-

  • I agree with "don't name your child what everyone else is called" I'm a katie. I know four of myself. I know ten emily's. DON'T DO IT!!

  • my mum decided to put an e on the end of storm so I'm storme... why?

  • I was soo happy when I saw a couple volumes of Kodocha on your shelf =D I never saw it in other videos

  • Hank and William??

  • Disagree. I have a stupid short form of my name that everyone calls me and it's super awesome to have a proper name when dealing with profs/employers...

  • Angst is the german word for fear.

I just think it's kind of weird that we use angst for "I hate my life." and they would use angst for "I fear living."

  • How does 'Hank' come from 'William'??? I do not see a single connection!

  • @OpahhPrism Well, if you think about it....

    REAL hard....

    It both has an A?

    Yeah, I don't know either... >.<

  • @TheHarlequinLady Castiel, Willow, and Ezekiel are great names (not all of the 'different' names are stupid - I would love to have a daughter named Ember or a son named Rowan,) but I hope you meant AlexandRA Marie, rather than AlexandER. You can't get away with giving a boy a girl's name. He'll never hear the end of it.

  • Clearly my parents did not see point #5 :/

  • SATCHEL LOL!! We call this guy in our form class Satchel ;)

  • Is it wrong to want to call your son Xerxes?

  • Hmm...alrighty heres a list of names that i have chosen for my future children...lets see what youtube thinks of them :Gabriel Zane, Willow Shii, Castiel May, Alexander Marie, Ezekiel Jean, and Adrian Hunter

  • my name's Joy-Collen, artistic and free willing as my parents put it, but I live in Ireland and the Irish for girl is cailin, which is said like Collen, so my name is basically ''happy girl'' -___- you fail mam and dad

  • I know a girl named Alia because of Star Trek.

  • My name's freddie.

    EPIC NAME

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS! I work at a children's facility, and the amount of kids who come in daily with these ridiculous, "artistic", hard-to-spell-and-pronouce names is astronomical. And then their parents are all offended when I don't know how to spell Izzuhbelluh or Ahmeelieya or AArejlfdshljfdsfjkdshjkfdsnhjfds. I actually started keeping a list of all the ridiculous names, then I go home and show them to my family, whilst simultaneously being insanely thankful that I have a normal name.

  • I'll call my first son Sirius

  • I want to call my kids either. Royce-Ryder, Darcy-Grace or Anakin-Forest :3

  • My name is pretty common but the problem is my enitials. They just happen to be A.B.J, being a 13 year old this has caused an incredibly annoying nickname that will stick with me until I leave school.

  • That is SO TRUE. I go by my Middle name, and at doctor's offices they call "Catherine.... Catherine.... Catherine? Hello?" yeah. And I help out a choir for 7 and 8 year olds, and some of their names are CRAZY like Stormagadeeon Dark Ruler of all... Just kidding. but their names are wacked.

  • Olive Green is a cute baby name...

  • According to "How Many of Me", there are 66 people in the US named Andrew Peacock. And 3 actually named Drew Peacock.

  • Does hank remind anyone else of Martin Freeman? I mean, just a little bit?

  • I like the name satchel. I think it's pretty freakin' cool.

  • My name is Yasmin and people often call me Jasmine because they have not come across my version before, even though its a perfectly legit name. To bad it is now associated with the contraceptive pill.

  • As a midwife you come across some interesting names, as I am new to my training the first unusual one i have come across is. Jonafan instead of Jonathon, all the other midwives were saying the same point you were, Hank.

The most common name i have seen is Mia, pretty but now I associate it with chavs.

  • Hank's name is actually William? Huh, I never knew.

  • Try growing up as "H" Potter... and having your mother point it out whenever possible -_-'

I have some name ideas picked out already, plenty even, but most either have some relation to fiction/mythology, are really fancy/victorian or come from Japan. Gods help my future kids XD

  • One of my French teachers is called Mr Bates. He told us he had a posh upbringing, so we wondered if he was Master Bates at some point.

  • My last name's May and I think it would be cool to name a child April... But that would be mean...

  • I read about a woman naming her daughter Le-a. And how do you say that? You'd think it sounds kind of like Leia, but no. The dash ISN'T silent. So people have to call her Ledasha. What the hell?

  • I know someone who named their son "Collin" but spelled it Kuhllen.

    Yeah.

And of course my parents spelled Stephanie weird, thankfully not TOOO weird, just with a Y at the end, not ie.

    <3 A nerdfighter named Stephany.

  • clearly Beyonce did not see this video...

  • @LoveablyUncool Willow does not count as a name.

  • @PowerXeta isn't her kid's name Blue Ivy?

  • i met someone named harry cox

  • @crayolaupyournose haha, I get called Nikki by my family but all my friends refuse to call me anything other than Nichole, they say it sounds weird. There's also this guy at work that calls me Nikolai, which I have told him numerous times that this is a male Russian name, but he won't stop O.O

  • My name is Kathryn. Consequently it has led to many frustrations in how to spell it (even when my dad was trying to sign my birth certificate) and put me in a somewhat sad position when I feel significantly unimportant when put up against Katherine Middleton. Oh the shame.

  • Pilot would actually be a kickass name!

  • my parents almost called Zappa, after Frank Zappa... Thank god they changed their mind and named me Robin

  • dante its a decent name? i tough its badass but my pathnner think its kinda duffy

  • I got named after a Shakespeare play character, and not one that appeared in Romeo and Juliet or Macbeth, or Midsummer, or... well whatever it was a character who appeared in As You Like It which I think is slightly lesser known than the aforementioned ones. Certainly I've never had to study it. ANYWAY what I mean is that Shakespeare names are a nice choice! The most ridicule I got was people over-enunciating the "D" at the end of it. "Ros-a-lin-DUH?" ._. No, stupid 12-year-old classmate. No.

  • Well, my last name is Home, so consequently I was called "Homo" a lot...

  • I have that same t-shirt and it is awesome.

  • My name is Nichole. Not unheard of I know, but I've been called nick-hole and nickel my entire life as soon as people find out the way I spell my name. I think Nicole looks totally wrong and I wouldn't change the spelling of my name, but still....

  • @TransgressiveInkgirl Hi, my name's Nicole xD Have to say, I'm glad I avoided that nick-hole business... Actually, I've never really been called nickel, either.

My friends are more food orientated. Nik-Naks. Nicoca-cola. That second one would probably be better if my name was Nicola...

I really hate it when people call me Nicola.

But most of the time, people call me Nikki, so now, even to me, Nicole looks kind of wrong...

  • YES, the spelling thing! My name is Whendy... Honestly, did my mom absolutely have to put a random H in there? Most teachers think it's a typo...

  • @Lilydrop Oh and that's without mentioning that I live in Quebec, Canada, which is French, and a lot of people can't even pronounce it properly. Including my grandparents...

  • Ooh it'd be pretty cool to be called Rogue though. :D

  • I'm named after a library, a star trek character, and old english people that live near birch trees....

  • I have always wanted to have two boys and name them Lucas and Claus...

    Why you hatin?

  • when I grow up, I wan`t to have 1 boy named Emile (i got it from Chuggaaconroy) and 1 girl named Evelo, i made that one up, is it to weird? ...don`t look at my user name...

  • There is only one girl's name that is absolutely off limits to every parent in the world, regardless of how it sounds coupled with their surname.......Fanny. DON'T DO IT!!!

  • ... Your name is William?!

  • My parents were really lucky that kids never realised that my brother and I are called Sam and Ellie, sometimes 'Ella' therefore Sam and Ella after the food poisoning. My mum said she realised this before naming me, evil.

  • @LJSuperwoman The Mason-Dixon Line was a line that most people used to divide the north and the south during slavery and the Civil War, though the line was originally created over a border dipute in revolutionary times.

  • I'm the 4th Beth in my class... -_-

  • hank? william? close enough!

  • Even if you do speak the native language of your country of residence if you're a foreigner you should ask the locals for help. Here in Canada I know a couple of friends named Ashley because apparently in the UK that's a common boys name...here it's not. Oh how they suffered in school.

  • I would be a mean parent and would name my kid after a video game character, like Cloud, Tifa, or Aerith, but I have also decided to not have kids in the near future, so it doesn't matter.

  • Firstly, the 'parents' naming their kids this are still kids themselves so in my mind they are not classed as sensible, mature or thinking adult parents. Secondly, I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. I have 10 names at home >.>

  • I am proud to report that there is a kid in my grade with the name Mason Dixon

  • @iWantThatPoster ... So?

  • @iWantThatPoster Being fair though, most people probably don't understand the reference.

  • I was lucky!

  • my name is luna and I am so happy with it <3 and come on there is a harry potter character names luna :D

  • "The two top baby names of 2010 were Jacob and Isabella..."

Please don't tell me that the second most popular boy's name was Edward!!!

  • @PassTheMarmalade1957

Nope, Jayden. At least people realize what a creepy, petrified, diamond chupacabra-thing Edward Cullen really is.

  • @shikamaruisfit His middle name is Henry, and one of the alternative names to Henry is Hank (Some people use their middle names instead of their first names.)

  • woo my name is awesome, SOREN.

  • Why are you called hank if your name is william?

  • Is it weird that I'm 15 and i already have the names of my 4 children? Not going to let me future wife have any choice in the matter

  • my school has a lot of nathans. theres only one i call nate or nathan and the rest i refer to by their last names, until today when i anagrammed one of their names. "anal rash dent". good thing he's my friend and i can get away with calling him "anal rash"

  • Jacob and Isabella? Wow. People have been reading too much Twilight.

  • Is that the Hunger Games book three (Mockingjay) that I see behind where your left arm is...?

  • My name is Zach and it pisses me off when people ask whether there is a K in it or not, it is an H

  • Did you just say Autumn Greene?

    Thats my name.

  • lol my future children are legitimately screwed... since their an'da is obsessed with strange names full of apostrophes. that being said, you didn't really say anything about hyphens and apostrophes, did you? too bad, sen'jin would be an awesome name... or maybe not.

  • I know two boys named Harley and Axel. Their dad is a mechanic.

  • @IllogicalOccurrences My cousin has a one year old named Roisin and we all call her Raisin :P

  • Oh mah days, Jacob and Isobella, Twihards much??

  • @ligzreadathon Speaking of which, my cousin named her son Cullen... barf

  • My names Roisin (Row-Sheen) you wouldn't believe how often I get called Raisin

  • I want to marry a man with the last name starting in an E and then have a son who becomes a spy and he would be called Mr. E. Mystery.

  • I know two boys whose parents named them after military ranks. Colonel and Major. Their last name is Khan.

  • I know a girl whos name is "Tess T. Cole"

  • Jacob...Isabella...*facepalm*

  • I'm naming my son "Doctor" and thats that!

  • two top names were jacob and isabella? stephanie meyer is more sneaky than i suspected.

  • @qwerty12268

Sadly, no one will name their child after a character with substance like Hermione, Luna, Albus or Severus. Besides Harry Potter of course.

  • a profession? I'm naming my kid "doctor" ... oh wait...

  • @JuLiAzCrackers don't forget the The!

  • it would be bad to name your kid cheddar cheese

  • My first name is Crystal… My second name is Jade. My last name is Douma, but people change it to Diamond. So, hello everyone! My name is Crystal Jade Diamond!

  • You think Ima Hogg is bad? My friend's cousin's name is Ima Hoare

  • You remind me of captain America, during his procedure, he's not SUPER skinny, but he's not as bulky as he ends up being.

  • The thing I have learnt in this video is that Hank is the short form of William.

  • I did not know your name is William...do I even know you anymore??

  • Like when parents choose the French spelling of Ashley (it's asshole with accents). One of the gym teachers at my school named his son Atlas Danger Planakis. That kid will either get made fun of or be very popular, or do really stupid shit all his life.

  • Balaji not blank that was my auto correct talking

  • Lol my name's Blank ( bah-la-jee)

  • Oh god, when he said Jacob and Isabella I wanted to rip every Twilight book ever printed.

  • If my name was Olive Green I would love my life.

  • LOL my name is KAYDEE no 1 can guess how to spell it and there are only 2 other people on facebook with my name (we friended each other)

  • There's someone I know with the last name of "Piecarcyk." Pyuh-karr-chick. Freakin' Polish name. We ended up calling that person "Pikachu."

  • There was a girl in my class named ladasha. It was spelled "la-a". WHAT THE FUCK

  • My name is Daren, people spell it Darren 90% of the time because Darren is the "Normal" version, however people don't realist not only the pronunciation difference (Darren is more of a Dar-Ren and Daren is more Dare-en) but the cultural difference. One is Gaelic, the other was adopted by White men but carried to South Africa where the spelling was changed to change the what it was enunciated in order to suite not only the former inhabitants before fencing them all out but also to fit the accents

  • @7ShadesOfBlue I have a very similar problem with my name, Alissa. It is always spelled with a 'y' even though that makes no sense to me what so ever, why I'm 'Alissa'. 'Alyssa' is a form of the name' Alyson' and is Greek while 'Alissa' is Hebrew. Each name has a different meaning. I have not yet met one 'Alissa' in my life, but I have met very many 'Alyssa's

  • My name's Monica and my sister

s name is Veronica. Nice going mom and dad

  • I'm naming my child Twilight Sparkles. But if it's a girl, then she's getting the name Butch.

  • My cousin is called Hollie Wood XD

  • Ha your name misspellings remind me of the Irish spellings of names. But I think they are more acceptable since they come from a language. Odhran(pronounced oar-on), Aoife (eef- a), Aine (Anya), Siobhan (Sh'vonne).

  • @MessedUpGrasshopper don't forget Eoin (Owen)

  • @TheManxAndrew And, if we go the Welsh route...Ianto. Owen and Ianto. Torchwood. SO AWESOME.

  • @MessedUpGrasshopper Seanne, looks like see-annie but pronouced Shaan

  • mom had a girl in her class.......Goldie Locks. It was a one room school housh in N.H.

  • People spell my name wrong...

    It's Annabel.

  • My name is Morgan (female.) I've never met another Morgan, but when people shout for their kid and they're called Morgan very often it's a boy. If I have a son I'd quite like to call him Tyler Matthew or Tyler Marcus, because I actually have a strange reason rather than just liking the name.

  • @morgyvids In France, Morgan is a common female name... :)

  • @funfuz Really? That's really cool! :)

  • @morgyvids Tyler Durden. Oh, yeah :D . But, seriously, although Morgan has been gaining in popularity as a boy's name lately, most of the Morgans I know of are girls.

  • Karleigh. I'm always impressed when people spell it correctly without my assistance. But I guess it's not so bad.

  • @msravenpuff "Carly? Carley? Karly? Karley? Carlie? Karlie? Kaywinnet Lee (Aw, yeah, Firefly!)? Alright, fine, just spell if for me." XD

  • @crystalguada24 You're pretty amusing :P
