  • God Bless Syd Barrett and Rick Wright you will be sadly missed x

  • pink floyd was awesome with syd but I think their best music was inspired by syd's break with reality and the band . Ironic.

  • u guys are being divas, pink floyd was cool even after syd left the band

  • i started my pink floyd cd and vinyl collection with piper at the gates of dawn hands down the best floyd in my opinion............ RIP SYD

  • pas mal la video

  • Piper and Dark side the best!!! We miss you Syd!!!

  • The piper at the gates of dawn: GREAT ALBUM

  • lucifer sam is the greatest song on this album am i right?

  • david is the best ,he teach play guitar a syd jajj

  • I've noticed that early Pink Floyd has a Doors sound to them.

  • @Callaghan4n6 They were both psychedelic rock bands then. Same genre.

  • acidtrip rocks

  • This is like a acidtrip!!!

  • Shine oooooooooooooon, Syd !!!!!!!!

  • This is great! I usually can't stand mixes, like medleys, they drive me nuts, playing only parts of songs, but this aptly showcases the album. I am now going to purchase the cd!

  • Idk how any of you can rag on later Pink Floyd, the band is a masterpiece of musical evolution during their whole career, obviously they have had their better times and worse times and I must say Piper At The Gates Of Dawn blew my fucking mind the first time I heard it, it's a work of true unfathomable art and Syd is/was the fucking shit, however this psychedelic stage couldn't last forever and I'm glad it didn't cuz the band continuously evolved it's sound and I love every fuckin stage of them

  • their high musical education is on all their composition....

  • Thank you! Angel Syd

  • Où était il à 01:48 ?

  • fuck sake. just say you like or you dont. fuck all the analysis please. I happen to like it and the longer pf went on the shitter they got and more up their own arse. Nice compilation btw. Was great and gave me amazing nostalgia

  • gah my ex gave this to me, I had no idea about pink floyd aside from the Wall etc. This shit is just out of this world amazing

  • Amazing debut album that only FLOYD managed to do.

  • Syd was trying to find a higher genius with psycedelic drugs, unfortunately he lost his orginal genius and the drugs brought on insanity that maybe was coming on or not.

  • jim morrison was deffiantaly not a prick

  • to the 10 little bastards that dislikes this video could easly go to my home and suck mi 9 inches cock all night long

  • @chainsawclownsyay only a few hundred more times and youll be on syds field.

    get it done dude

  • thank you for making this this is great.

  • Morrison didn't like being a sex Idol or anything close to a pop figure. So sometimes he was intentionally a prick, understandable.

  • @chainsawclownsyay when the stress of everyday life starts to rear it's ugly head and you just want to crawl back into a hole. Well, the rest is fuckin' peachy.

  • I'm in love.....

  • ☮ ♫ PEACE ♫ ☮

    DR.Z

  • hmm... im don't hear pink floyd for long, and to be honest, ive expected more from the "great" syd barret. i like david gilmour much more

  • @happyburial Gilmour and Barrett are not to compare, they are different in their own ways

  • @happyburial It s because you certainly have to buy new ears...

Syd and David are two genius and great artist,no need to compare them, they are "incomparable"

  • @chocobann

hmm no i don't think so. im very happy with my ears

  • Genio!!!!!!!!!!

  • syd was simply awesome.

  • Syd should have joined up with the Doors. I'm sure him and Morrison would have gotten along real well

  • @MastaChief117 Hell Yeah Great Idea!

  • @MastaChief117

    Morrison was a prick.

  • @MastaChief117

I'm sure Jim would have enjoyed a guitar player that played one note through an entire performance instead of playing melodies like Robby Krieger. Syd reached insanity, plain and simple. You can't play music with someone who can't perform, no matter how much of an idol they are.

  • @MastaChief117 thats an interesting idea too..... i had the idea he would have fit in real well with the beatles, considering they were right next door to each other in opposite studios 2 and 3 the same time in '67 at abbey road studios.. he should have left PF after this album and joined the beatles if he had the opportunity... play with people on the same level as him. if i was john i would have invited him to jam during the pepper sessions.... kick myself in the ass for not doing that!!!!!

  • @MastaChief117 ya no i said the same thing a couple of times

  • @MastaChief117 Two different psychological profiles. Jim had nothing in common with Syd but the talent.

  • @thedarkglobe Yeah but they had similar styles of music is what i meant and i think they could have complemented each other well. If syd could still perform of course

  • @MastaChief117 Probably not. I don't think anyone got along with Jim Morrison.

  • @MastaChief117

Makes you wonder that if he did, that he might just still be alive. Meh.

  • @MastaChief117 I'd quite literally give anything to hear what their album would have sounded like. Maybe get Hendrix on guitar.

  • @BreezesofConey Hendrix toured with Pink Floyd, actually. In fact, there's a group picture with Hendrix, Pink Floyd with Syd and a bunch of other people.

  • @MastaChief117 by the time he left pink floyd, he could barely have a conversation with a person before staring mindlessly at them for hours lol

  • @MastaChief117 syd wouldn't have fit with them

  • @MastaChief117 I remember reading somewhere about a guy who met Jim Morrison. When he asked him what his favourite band was, he said Pink Floyd.

  • @MastaChief117

I don't think reality would be able to support its self if 2 amazing minds like Syd and Morrison come together to collaborate music. Hahaha I wrote a paper on that in high school that if I had a time machine I'd do just that

  • I've got a bike

you can ride it if you like

    it's got a basket

    a bell that rings

and things to make it look good

    ...... ♪

  • Piper >anything the beatles have ever produced.

  • @DanielJoseDiego Now now! I love both them both. Lennon and Syd actually liked each other.

  • that cat's something i can't explaaaain

  • taşşaklarını öpem.

  • -pulls out bong and packs a few bowls-

  • god damn i love this album

  • Even though Pink Floyd has so many great albums, this one is def my favorite!

  • @kirkpatrick321 same here, this one and saucerful, my top 2.

  • Syd's music is more fun then Post Syd Pink Floyd!! Post Syd Floyd is way more involved musically though! Still Love Syd's music very much!!!! Both are amazing!!!

  • @zeppy215 It's like this, the later Pink Floyd was amazing, legendary and made history, but Floyd with Syd, was totally something else, out of this world. =)

  • @DanielJoseDiego

Yes! From a different planet or a fairy tale, still today.

  • syd barret is missed.

  • this is the real pink floyd, the crazy and fantastic pink floyd, when Syd died, the weirdness died with him

  • @gibranco syd left pink floyd about 35 years before he died..

  • @kaiks88bonzo He went and sat in a tree for a decade :D

  • @gibranco What? In 2006?

  • @gibranco cut the bullshit man.

  • @gibranco I can't help but nitpick, but syd didn't die out of the band, he was sort of; I don't know; left out. He didn't exactly get kicked out though, the others just stopped taking him to performances because of his drug problem. Also I don't think his music was much more surreal compared to that of Roger Waters era Floyd, it was sort of just a different kind of weird.

  • @gibranco I agree with you, although it does seem that they took a turn towards ballads before arriving at the Pink Floyd style that they are commonly known for. Great stuff and cool to see how they evolved.

  • @gibranco you do realize that Syd didn't die until 2006 right? He didn't die when David Gilmour joined. Pink Floyd got better with David anyway... Syd was awesome, David was better.

  • It is unfortunate but many of our most talented 'artist' (no matter what arena) are emotionally ill. The UP side (if there can be one) is that many with mental illness are able to bring out things that most 'normal' people might keep 'locked' up.

Taking drugs didn't give him schizophrenia! He was schizophrenic BEFORE he started doing drugs...which may have been PART of the reason he TOOK them in the first place. A sick brain is just that...sick. It cannot function as it should.

  • This is my favorite album. I think this is also contains Syd's best work.

  • Syd, may you rest in the most beautiful of places. Love and peace to everyone who loves your music.

  • The title of the album is taken from a chapter heading (thinks it's the last) in "The Wind In The Willows" by Kenneth Graham

  • Syd WAS Pink Floyd...

  • @Philmod68 I Agree

  • @apiperatthegates : I disagree. Syd was PART of the original Pink Floyd. You fail to give anyone else in the original group of Waters, Wright, & Mason credit for their capabilities? David Gilmour came on board & many forget there were at one time (just like the Moody Blues...) Five members including Syd Barret. David Gilmour picked up the slack where Syd failed the band due to drugs use & already knowing he suffered from mental illness. He did NOT push Syd out of the band. SYD LEFT!

  • The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is the debut album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, and the only one made under founding member Syd Barrett's leadership.

  • what album is this? and the songs in description

  • @mistercars0

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is the debut album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, and the only one made under founding member Syd Barrett's leadership.

  • Brilliant video. It's funny how a lot of Syd's songs can be sung as nursery rhymes. My kids loved singing his songs. We would roll our rrr's singing the Gnome... and now I'm singing them with my grandchildren. RIP Beautiful Syd.

  • I LOVE SYD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D <3

  • i love lucifer sam its almost kinda surfy

  • I listened to this album today for the first time, it was a wonderfully fucked up yet amazing experience, I look forward to listening to it again :)

  • today,.the anniversary of the piper!!!oh my god I love this with all my being!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The second song could have been written by the beatles honestly, but thats okay, I like the beatles :D

  • I've obsessed with this album ever since it was first released. Pure magic. It's my favorite LP of all time.

  • yes its all about the Pink Floyd

  • Yeah this is Syd man, The "new" Pink Floyd kicks ass, but not quite the same with out Syd, well ofc not. =( RIP

  • *syd*foreverlove*

  • a genius band - until the day they become comercial, when it was - everybody must decide for itselfs...

  • To answer asmorgan88, Atom Heart Mother has the same type sound. Relics has some of the same songs, and the overall feel of the album is the similar. Good taste, classic early Floyd!

  • He is an angel. It s all I can say. But I can t keep out him from my mind. I m not psiquic, but, it s true I have a friend in that other unknown dimension where someday we all will stay, where is syd now. I can perceive he accepts me, at least, even when never heared his voice. We are good friends, I m not joking, man, i m in a good-mind-health! He was a beautifull human and now a brighty spirit, yes he is. Sorry for my english, it s not the best. My delicate prince!

  • @AurigaSteel

    No, I haven't!

I have a very one-track mind when it comes to music...I tend to listen to the same band, songs, & albums continuously for years sometimes.

I've been listening to this album for a long time, & recently listened to "Saucerful of Secrets"...but, I don't know - it's not hitting me like I want it to.

I should take the uploader's advice & seek out Syd Barret's solo albums...but I've been listening to nothing but The Yardbirds for the past several months, or year maybe.

  • too hippie like??? Try to listen to The wall, and also understand the whole concept of the album, and you'll see how its not boring at all....

  • @Nofec2

"The Wall" is the most boring album I've ever heard by anyone...if that's what Pink Floyd is, I fucking hate them.

"PATGOD" blows me away though, "Saucerful of Secrets" is really good too...

  • @asmorgan88 eh? be on more acid next time and it won't be boring more like.. life changing. have fun be safe.

  • @killer3231

HAHAH - for me, acid wouldn't add anything to that album. I really hate it. I actually have tripped while listening to it, & still, I can't stand it.

It's not psychedelic enough for me.

Dark Side of the Moon wasn't psychedelic enough for me, either.

The first two albums are though.

  • legend.I Love it!!!!

  • This is the first time i hear all the songs on this album, and i must say: it is really good! The sound is absolutely great !

  • a great album, a work of art they also made recordings

  • Love you always Syd!!!! where ever you are...

  • best fucking syd barrett song

  • cooler song..

um was geht es eig. im lied?

    about what is the song?

  • Just listening to this album makes me feel high... oh god i cant wait till i get stoned :D

  • me parece bastante bueno el video junto con las imagenes

  • class

  • pls dnt be harsh to pink floyd, the baby of genius called syd. without doubt syd set the wheels in motion and proved the mettle, but waters, gilmour, mason and wright (rip) did carry on the legacy as well as they cd in true syd style. pink floyd are the trendsetters wd a certain mr. barrett in the drivers seat.

  • que maravilha de audio e ate melhor que o do cd

  • Taking LSD on this music fucked me up for life

  • Seriously?

  • lets hear it for Sid real Good Stuff .

  • g reat compliation

  • By far their best! Cant listen to post-Sid Pink Floyd anymore.

  • best pink floyd album

    the audio is really good

  • RIP sweet beautiful Syd: I hope you've found the peace you never found in life xxx

  • @mandiapple i dont agree,, i dont think syd didnt had peace in life he live like he want

  • @mandiapple not sure what you all mean syd was a genius he just did way to many DRUGS i wish he never met acid we would have the best songwriter that ever lived. but wishes are fishes

  • @suewhitesox

£$Ð frightens the shit out of me,

although, the only good experiences I had, was during Floyd's first two albums.

    and Hendrix' Electric Ladyland.

But indeed...you have to be a strong individual to handle LSD.I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

  • @PAULLONDEN

i somewhat agree, you never know how your mind will react to hallucinogens, its rather a game of russian roulette, the result of which is merely a matter of interpretation. like the good doctor said, i wouldnt recommend drugs or insanity, but it certainly has always worked for me :)

  • this has to be the best pink floyd album...you have to notice that after syd left, pink floyd became slow and, in my opinion, boring

  • Have to disagree with you frumble10, they're simply too different styles. Syd era is perhaps fresher and the expression, although very authentic is more on the raw side, The technique is definitely less refined than their later work because at the time they didn't know much music... they "couldn't play", as Roger put it. After Syd left they've had some moments of jaw-dropping genius, the expression reached incredible depths and created universal masterpieces, flawlessly put together...

  • i will love you SYD

  • Well, Syd was off the scene waaaaaay before youtube was invented. So most of his fans don't make a habit of jumping on the net to look up his vids like Lady Gaga's fans, who are all like 14 years old.

The fact that Syd is still so popular 40 years after he dropped out of sight is something Gaga will have trouble topping.

  • @RCAvhstape Amen to that!

  • well sed

  • @RCAvhstape which is, being real, natural, talented, and sincere. funny thing is that 40 years ago PF would call what they do "pop music".

  • this song got 147k viewer, But lady gaga bad romance got 3242354356436 blilions.. what happend to this planet??

  • syd oh syd......... im crying ty for the vid

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, great video. I didn't know there was so much footage of Syd out there.

Cool thing about Floyd is that there's so much unpublished and bootleg material out there that they will always have a sort of underground flavor to them, a cult following.

Syd is the guy we all wish we knew in our 20s. The crazy genius who moved the world with his brain and his guitar. RIP.

  • poor sid

  • You mean Syd? I'd like to be where he's now...

Didn't fall for this "live hard and die young' shit. I bet he's screwing angels...

    RIP genius.

  • British musicians own

  • get some shrooms idiot...

  • because weird people are the most talented!

  • Yes, they are more unique and are more expressive.

  • @ifoundthiscamera The opposite - the most talented people are usually very weird

  • @agontar how is that the opposite?

  • @ifoundthiscamera this is just simple logical statement. Most As are Bs doesn't mean that most Bs are As. Nothing personal. If somebody is weird it doesn't mean he is most likely talented, right? He could be just plain weird :)

  • @agontar I understand haha but at first I didn't get it...if you ever read Alice in Wonderland they go on about "Say what I mean is not the same as Mean what I say"

  • @ifoundthiscamera I agree!

  • @ifoundthiscamera Perhaps also it's that "normal" people are simply just so devoid of any type of personality or character because they're so busy doing what everyone else wants them to they go through life like cloned zombies.

  • RIP MR psychadelic,if only Piper was released before Sgt Peppers then PinkFloyd would of been the stirrers of the acid trend that was swinging 60's London rest in peace SYD.

  • ok i need to get this on record and on CD This is a great album, R.I.P Syn You are Forever missed.

  • The legend never dies. True talent lasts forever.

  • He shines on.............................

  • fuckest fuckin' musics

  • Syd is the eternal soul of Pink Floyd!

  • @BlueJoe21

    wrong.

  • you, you should not!

  • MAGNIFICENT

  • How crazy. My best crazy ones. Here they are. <3

    Shine on.

  • man, way bttr than "dark side of th moon"

  • Great compilation of a superb album representing the best era of Syd! RIP Syd! 5*

  • Great post, good way to remember.

  • Every album from pink floyd is completely different than the other, and that's why I could just listen to all of the different albums and never get bored. They're all amazing

  • I cant make up my mind on wich album i like the most. When i hear this i always think "this Is the best." And when i hear dsotm i think "no This is the best." etc. They never get old and they will always be the best.

  • i prefer animals and the wall to dsotm

  • I was just making an example of how i always think after listening to Pink Floyd. I just love every single album that much. Personally i cant rank them from 1 to 10 for example. I would just put every single album on the 1st place :)

  • yep I agree,it's just like that and with me that depends on the mood I am in and all.the albums are just timeless and each of them is perfect in its own way.

  • amazing=]

  • i dident like this cd much i wernt keen

but now i gota say i only now started to like it now i think its amazing
