Windmills are great, the positive outwieghs the negative's by 100 times. They don't really take up alot of space.(energy factories(coal, oil) need alot of space also) Wind and solor do however need coal and oil to produced them. Thats why we need to make these while we have fossil fuels left. If we don't we will be left in the dark.
bad ideas in one spot, what is the life span of 1 wind mill? how long will the bearings, windings last? how much energy to make the windmill factory, the materials, get the materials to the factory, than to the site, the installers, bulldozers, roads, concrete,by the time (and if ) the windmill generates enough energy to be even it would have to be replaced.
This idea that it takes more energy to produce a turbine that it can contribute back is just silly. The average turbine today produces 1.5 MW of energy. Soon 2-4 MW turbines will be mainstream. They can be operational for 20 years. Yes they need bearings and other maintenance, but do you think traditional generators don't need service. Do some research before you post silly rants like this. This kind of misinformation fuels an idiotic debate. If you hate wind power research grid issues.
Acctually, the largest wind turbine farm in the USA is in Sweetwater Texas. It spans from Trent to Snyder with plans to go as far as Lubbock! google it!
were is it?

@cineaction i think you searched for biggest windmill, but this is the biggest windmill farm in the us

It's an area almost twice the size of San Francisco...Put together, the windmills generate enough power to light up two-thirds of Stockton."
Anyone else see the huge problem here?

jonnysport89 Each windmill takes up almost an acre. Please read the sidebar and see the inequity between space vs energy provided.
