there is a lot more to it. but you can change the pitch of a talking drum by squeesing the ropes on the outside of it. that is how he got the tabbala-ish pitch variations.

He has a very serious unknown illness. As far as I know it's forced him to stay in his house for at least the last 5 or 6 years.

It's really sad. Art is his only creative output now i think.

You can't get these 2 but you can get John Lurie with Billy Martin and Calvin Weston doing similar stuff - "Men With Sticks". Came out in 93 or there abouts.
