  • I bought a very good twist mabeline eyeliner (midnight master) (about 8 dollars). I loved the feel and look of it, but it only lasted me 2 weeks. I decided to buy a pencil liner, no matter how much I thought it br bought it on sale for the same price as the mabeline one and it has a smudger on the end and has a longer last (oh my goth by annabelle). the usual price is 9 dollars (canadian) but it came down to 7 dollars (canadaian). So, i saved 2$ and got a longer lasting product 4 da same price

  • You can return opened and used makeup at CVS, Wal Greens, Rite Aid, Kmart, Wal Mart, and most drug stores.

  • I dont find your tips to be that helpful...because we all know that over the counter makeup are less expensive...I would like to know ways to buy high end for less money

  • no offence ladies but when youare low on cash your natural instinct kick in and you will know exactly what to do to save on cosmetics you dont need to get tips from another.

  • you can go to band h website they have 120 different eyeshadows for under 20 dollars and pallattes of lip glosses also black radience is good milan, in drugstores cheap but good loreal hp,sephora, sallies, queen latifahs brand these are just cheaper options

  • I love your videos! Looking great need not cost a fortune! And btw, even though Wet 'n Wild is cheap, they have the best pencils of any brand. You can use them to line your eyes, color your lids, and even line and color your lips, few pencils are as rich and colorful!

  • many fash mags have coupons inside and the sunday paper always has coupons on drug store brand makeup. also look for printable coupons online and free shipping codes for higher end/specialty brand makeup

  • @barbiedefined

Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful tips. You are so awesome.

  • ILIKE WET AND WILD BUT ELF SUCKS

  • Thank you for this helpful information

  • This was really helpful! the only thing for me at least, is that I often spend money on things they don't sell in my town (like MAC for example, I have to order online. We dont have an actual store:P) so it's really hard for me.

  • this really helped...i was going to probably buy make up tomorrow. thanks now i have a better idea of how to go about it

  • I like purchasing drugstore makeup products at CVS, because the have a return policy on beauty products, that if you use it and aren't 100% satisfied, you can return it for full refund. Not to mention CVS tends to have a lot more beauty sales then other drugstores.

  • MAC is def. not the best product for African American women. Everyone I know (that is AA) and wears MAC either have some type of reaction or look VERY OVERDONE (as many of these YT girls look) Don't get me wrong their eye colors and brushes are great but the foundation and powder are the pitts!

  • Oh yea I so had that problem! I bought a foundation from maybeline (I think I just have the mother of all sensitive skin cause it was mineral and when I took it off it looked like I had sunburn)

But they must have different rules in the states cause in the UK if the product hurts you or really irritates your skin you can get a refund....

  • Usually you cannot, however, there are some stores in some communities where if there is a problem and you call the store and speak to the manager and explain the problem, they will often give you a refund. We have a local grocery store that does have a make up isle. If you leave a bag of groceries behind and someone else takes it so it is not returned, if you call, they will give you the groceries you forgot so long as you have a receipt. Most stores though will not do this.

  • OMG I hate buying foundation that ends up not being my color! There was one that was pretty close, but when I went back to the store, it wasn't there anymore. I'm afraid they discontinued it. =(

  • i was wondering how you can get the samples from MAC

  • I don't know if Mac offers FREE sample. However, you can go to any MAC store and have your skin matched for the right foundation and/or loose powder. This way you know you are at least getting the right color.

  • I was at Riteaid and got a buy one get one free deal and there was rebate too so my foundation that was $12.99 each, I got it for $3.50 each. :)

  • I talk to a saleperson at Mac and she informed me that I could return a product that I did not like, but she did not indicate if I could return for credit or get my money back. I would suggest to call Mac to verify their return policy, because their products are too expensive for them not to except a return.

  • you remind me of Moe from canadas next top model, very pretty and i love your advice on the show! its excellent.. im subscribint =)

  • save money on make up enter make up cotest win free make up ;) alot of yt people do this.. thats just one way! much love

    macmamas408

  • mac shoukd have given ur money back especially if u have reciept hmm i never had a problem on a return wow thats not kool.. i like this product but yes alot of people i know cant use it i buy drug store brands now im on a saveing no buy mac haha i lov mac but i use all brands great vids hun!

  • Great video, I have a vid that is similar...I'll post it up!

  • that makeup looks good on you, you should buy that brand, yor skin looks flawless!

  • i just came across your videos today and i'm hooked! :) i just wana tell you that you can definitely return the MAC foundation you got bought, used or not. Tell them you had a bad skin reaction and they should take it back. If you don't get your money back, they would at least have to give you a store credit which you can use for their other products like lippies! :)

  • same thing happen to me with the MAC. i was so upset. now i have been trying samples like you said and i love it. saves so much money

  • Wow i sure will request samples! I love this vid, its really helpful!

  • I totally agree with you! I stopped using the MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation because it irritated my skin AND it was not worth the money. Love this video!

  • ur style is awesome!!!! love it

  • how much are the samples?

  • you don't pay for samples hun, you ask for them, they're always free..

  • I'm not sure if they do this everywhere, but ULTA, Walgreens and CVS will take your return within a week if you keep your receipt. It dosen't hurt to ask if it saves you money

  • actually it's not only within a week, it should be more than that. the receipt should say it.

  • This is a good video.

Also to add on the list there is a store that sells Estee Lauder companies such as MAC, Clinique for 30% off of the original price. the name of the Store is called Cosmetic Company Outlet :)

  • thank yo so much for this tip.....i usually shop at sephora because i know things can be returned if you dont like it , but I didnt know MAC does the same thing, and finding the right foundation has alsways been hard for me...

  • wish oil of olay made make up for sensitive skin people im very sensitive on face and neck i break out on them with makeup.

  • This video is soo helpful!!

I added this as a FAVORITE

  • You got it right and it happened to me with Mac also I was furious, I went to a different Mac store and brought my Mac fix studio and told the girl what had happened to me. This time I selected on my own and she told me that she will take it back if I was not satisfied, well I am satisfied. Sometimes we need to state what we know and select for ourselves because many of the ladies at the Mac counters are only sales ladies or have very little experience. thank you.

  • I dont know who told her that you can return your products back to mac if it doesnt work out for you. ive returned so many items back to mac lol its isnt funny. but it is better to get samples then sending your money on the item.

  • I like the LOREAL HIP products! I usually get them BOGO at Walgreens or Rite Aid. They run about 7.99 without the sale!

  • Thank you so much for the information extremely helpful advice. When purchasing my makeup I would usually only get free gifts or what they offer but now I will make sure to ask for samples if paying over 20.00 dollars..

  • Oh i love the video, very helpful...Cant say that it happened to me b4 but i still love the video...im subbing!

  • iVE HAD TiMES WHERE MY F0UNDATi0N WAS T00 LiGHT 0R T00 DARK. • Thanks for the tip!... And yes is a very good one!! you can get samples at mac and sephora... I have, and it's very good because you get to try de products in combination with the products you already have and see if there would be a reaction between them,,,

  • try the ysl, im not sure if they give samples, but you can always try =]

  • what if you dont have a mac store here an you have to purchase it online an it dont work well for your skin what can you do then? even with lipglosses btw :)

  • very good idea this has happened to me like lots of times ive very sensative skin so thanks for this dont think ill ever use a mac foundation then lol great video!! u so pretty

  • love ur style girl! Can u do a video on this style?

  • If you have ur reciept you can return it to MAC within 30 days. They throw it out, so it doesn't matter if it's used or not.

  • In Canada, MAC and Sephora have very good return policies, even if used, as long as you have a receipt, you can get a full refund, usually within 30 days

  • Sometimes I will go to the makeup counter and have sample makeup applied to my skin by one of the professional makeup artists and then if I like the colors and brands, I look for them on eBay, brand new never opened of course. Sometimes I save money like this.

  • YOU LOOK FLY! Great info beautiful.

  • Girl, you are the bomb! Your tips have been saving me money and are very enlightening. Keep spreading the positive message:)

  • This is so true. Even though I do try the samples at times. Not everyone knows! You're terrific and so informative!!! Good Job. By the way "Thanks for joining the group."

  • Good idea. I have stuck with Fashion Fair for years. They give samples. I have tried others and will again. Thank for your show.

  • Hi D,

One way to prevent purchasing a make up product you can't use (did not work for you) is to find out the stores return policy before purchasing.

The M.A.C Studio Tech compact you purchased is returnable within 14 days of purchasing....with your reciept. If you purchased it from a M.A.C counter or store. If they won't take it back.....sell it on ebay.

    Blessings Lovely

  • Girlfriend,

Thank you for this informative information. Unfortunately for me, I tried the makeup off and on for several weeks before I tried to take it back. By then, I was well past the return policy date. It was a costly lesson to learn. But I promise you going forward, I am going to take your advice. Before I purchase anything over $10 I will know the return policy. It's crazy, I do this all the time with clothes but I never thought to apply this principle when it comes to makeup.

  • This is such a great vid I have come into that same prob before. Thanks so much for sharing

  • great tip thanx

  • thanks for the great tips.

  • wow.. that was so helpful! thank you so much for sharing this advice!!

    brii

  • Great tip! It's very frustrating to purchase make up that you later find does not flatter you. You feel that you can't do anything but try to make a better choice next time. Wear those samples out!!

  • i cannot believe that you were NOT able to return that. well i used a product from mac and sent it back when i thought it was not my shade. at any rate if you use the lipstick do the "back2mac" program and return that compact for your complim. lipstick. Loreal HIP and NYX have been a life savor...Thanks again "Trendsetter" i luv it

  • So true. I've wasted money on makeup all the time.

  • I had problems with makeup that doesn't work for me before, but they're drugstore makeup. What i found useful before buying makeup is research--lots of it! Whether on youtube, makeupalley. com, or magazine articles, I try to get info first. Then after I decide on what to try, I wait till that product is on sale at walgreen's etc. I only buy drugstore makeup though coz I spend more on skin care. Thanks for the tips! I love the samples idea.

  • luv ur channel!

  • SO great hun much better you were like way more relaxed !!!! Great tips as always XOXO

  • great tip.

i also found that in terms of saving money on makeup, buying palettes such as the 88 color palette for coastal scents saves me money because i can play around with different colors and see what colors work best for me rather than buy a 14.00 eyeshadow that ends up making me loook washed out
