No they dont have feelings but if toyota works on this by 2011 we could be having robot intertainment at cafes you coukdnt even make a head of this thing made of plastic that does nothing let alone one that plays instruments and walks and toyota is very good with making band robots there very smart.

one important thing you aren't considering - toyota is a car company, not a record label! the point of this whole thing is to showcase the technological advancements they have made in the field of robotics, not how impressive their musical score is. if toyota had a human band at a robotics convention they would look like idiots...

Puppylove898: I agree. I've been watching a few of these Toyota Robot Music videos, and although it's an amazing technical advancement in some ways, as you said, there is no emotion behind it. With no emotion and feeling even the best music of the ages lose that which makes them amazing -- the fact that it moves the soul...

So congrats to Toyota for their technical advances, but there will never be a replacement for live human musicians...

There already is and has been for ver 100 years! Never plays out of tune, never takes a day off or has a bad day, adn all the emotion's there, put in by the human arranger! Perfect!

Not true - fairground organs are mechanical, but the emotion of the music is put in by the arranger of the music books I would say that if you got a computer to arrange the music and this band to perform then it would be truly boring, because I'd say this was arranged by a human

i'm not worried. although you can program robots to play pieces of music, they cant put any personal expression in it. They can never feel the chills that a musician feels when they know they are speaking the message the composer wrote into the music, they cant improv, unless you program a blues scale into their memory, even then, it will still be programmed. it also makes the musical experience worth 10 times more to hear people who worked on laerning the music play it. so robots will go nowher
