@ChickinSammichMan haha! jeez, just proves that they all have their hands in each others pockets :P although.. I cant complain considering these companies brought us the supra and impreza can I :P Does sound VERY nice indeed there chickin!
Saw the fr-s on motor trend and I'm sad that the fr-s and the 86 look kind of different I wanted the same car just a different badge here in america why did they have to mess with anything :(
This car is a big deal. It could trigger the repopularization of affordable sports coupes. Too bad North America has to get it badged as a Scion. Toyota North America doesn't care about sports cars, just hybrids and trucks. I'll buy the Subaru BRZ version thank you.
@sdlausen Totally. I'd love to have a Toyota sports car, and I love Subarus, but every time I see a Scion badge I can't take it seriously as a car. Like "Oh you got a Scion you must think that's cool, how much did you spend on accessories??"
this looks alot better than the Subaru version! I like the aggressive front bumper of this one much better.
the back also looks better BUT those see through tail lights look horrible these see through tail lights are the look of early 2000 cars they should have just used darker red shade for the tail lights :(
@mp4c12winning very true! I agree but man those ugly see through tail lights are from early year 2000! they need to be a darker shade. I hope the north american version looks like this one body style wise.
@mp4c12winning maybe the color because other than the badges they are identical in production version apparently...but the concept brz with the LED tail lights and front splitter looked best
Nice car but I really don't get why there bringing this in the US as a "Scion". It's as though Toyota has given up on making cool cars and is coming to US in disguise.
@SergeantVeteran - They're bringing it as Scion because it's the "youth/sporty" marque for the Toyota line now. They're aiming for a young audience with this car so Scion is the logical marque for it. So yeah, you're not too far off the mark with regard to the Toyota marque having given up on cool cars. The Toyota badge has become the Buick of Japan.
@swollpatroljg -- i thought the same thing ... exact damn engine in both ... only difference is the badge on the front !!! what a letdown for almost 4 years of hype (a Subaru STI version could actually make it bad ass)
@swollpatroljg - Toyota owns a controlling stake in Subaru's parent company (Fuji Heavy Industries). The only reason I can think of for having both a Subaru and Toyota version is to try to appeal to fans and/or loyal customers of both marques. Toyota needs something like this desperately since they have no serious sports cars in their entire product line any more. IMO a Subaru version is pointless on account of the WRX, esp. with Subaru trading on their "all-AWD" lineup for so long.
@Arguemento - what difference does it make if Scion or Toyota gets it? If you don't want a Scion badge on your car, you can always get the Subaru one instead.
this and the subaru brz look very similar

@grievsa07 lol they even have a scion version
jpwhatwhat1028 1 month ago
@grievsa07 Same exact car, different brand and different steering wheel position depending on market location.
It's got a Subaru Flat 4, with Toyota styling, Super low center of gravity (lower than Ferrari 458 Italia), and 53/47 weight distribution.
Amazing car, really.
Drifter Ken Gushi can whip a stock one around a track no problem, so it should be a good one (;

@turbo311 I agree with you 100%. To me, the BRZ also looks better and it just seems more mature. I suppose because it's not a Scion haha.

I wish they made the subaru version AWD. Still excited for the relase tho. Hopefully honda will catch up and release a sports car to compete.

I think Subaru should have made another AWD coupe to revive the Subaru RS coupe/22B and what not.
