me and 2 other friends all started guard armies at relatively the same time, i started it for a gw store event, 1 friend started them bc he likes the vestroyan models and the other started gaurd because he wanted a death korps tank army, non of us have lost against marines or MEQs. i fact i havent lost a game with my guard, to be fair i have only played 3 or 4 games and unless the list is stacked againstalot of tanks, my friend doesnt lose much either.

Sounds to me those guys who you are talking about don't know how to SKILLFULLY command an army. You personally use the easiest armys to paint and probably can't be bothered to paint skintones on 100+ troopers. To me, all you care about is winning and not even playing the game for fun... As is was intended to be.
By the way, if you need to rely on space marines, you don't truley know how to play the game with strategy and meet new people who know how to properly play imperial guard.

And space marine tactics are just as hard cause of the cost of points at least being 20 points per model vs 6 points a model for ig if im correct so again calm down

Just remember, there are many people that are thinking about playing warhammer 40k and do go onto youtube and watch these videos. Since this video is telling people "imperial guard suck" it will make newbies not choose the imperial guard making the sales on the IG not go up meaning that when the new codex comes out (and later in the future), there will be less new models for them.
I see what you're saying, don't take IG if it's your first army, take Space Marines or something. So the Space Marines are "Warhammer 40k for Dummies"
It sounds like the guys you speak to dont have much luck and don't know how to play the guard properly. Thats all. I personally run a Light Infantry Droptroop army, which just means that all of my units deepstrike, and I specialise against heavy armour Infantry, every special weapon is plasma. I agree, Guard is hard for a new player, but its good for people who know what they're doing. you should come to the forum sometime
You just don't know what you're talking about. IG can be extremely effective, even for a beginner. You can make some truly fierce IG units. Just look at what you could do with an assault oriented command squad.

Dude, Guard are amazing. I have less than a 30% casualty rate. You need to learn your armies. I haven't lost a single game to orks, Space marines, Or any other army for that matter. People that lose that much need a new army.

I agree that the gaurd may be shitty for beginners, but in teh end every army has its perks the only thing that wins teh day in teh end are the tactics you use with your army no more no less.
dude u can still get good hits with strength 3 i have a commander w/ strength 3 that can pown up any other commander with a 2+ to hit and to wound with NO ARMOUR SAVES. also what air soft gun do u have im getting one and noone has any good recomendations.
buy Tokyo Marui, G&G, or KWA only things that are reliable for a low price. Don't buy from Jungle Toy because they used parts that were in old guys and just put them in new bodies
