Doc had a problem with a couple of small forwrds. Rick Barry, Larry Bird, Bernard King, and Marques Johnson being the ones who gave him the most trouble.
Doc was one of a kind. But i saw him vs Rick Barry and Barry gave him fits you could tell Barry wasn't going to attempt to play in the air he only left the ground a couple inches on his jump shot . All round Barry was better in my perspective, and I bet even to DrJ fans if they can be objective. I know this is a Dr J video but it's where I'm not preaching to the choir. I bet if you were to poll past NBA players they'd take Barry over Doc.

@tellthetruthg I liked Barry alot he was a very great player. I think he was Larry Bird before Bird for sure. He was extremely fundamentally sound and could shoot his ass off. I'm not totally sure about the Doc comment, but I think he presented problems for Doc, because he played fundamental against Doc on both ends. Barry does not get his true respect in the league.
@ShangoDC Barry is disliked for a number of reasons. Arrogant, the racial angle, to name two. I agree Birds game was a lot like Barrys except the rebounding edge you have to give to Bird. The rest is a toss up. The Barry over Doc I stand by. I think that the Dr J is one of the all time greats so fun to watch and as competitive as any NBA player ever. Barry is just my choice and it is totally subjective.
@tellthetruthg From an emotional standpoint and the revolutionary way he changed and expanded the way the game is played, Doc is my all time favorite not to mention being the bridge between the two leagues, but as a student of the game I've always deeply respected Barry's great skills and the way he approached to the game. Barry really had great offensive skills I'm sorry the league has not given him just due.
@ShangoDC great points. Both Men were great had different style game. What about Barry Bridging the gap from the NBA to the ABA ? I could be wrong about this . Wasn't Barry the 1rst maybe only "Star"NBA player to go to the ABA when it was in start up mode? That's bridging the gap in reverse. I saw him with the Oakland Oaks play live the ABA was electric from the start. NBA meets play ground 280 300 point nights happened regularly. Barry lit the ABA Score Board up. Great chatting with you. GO GSW
In 1969, A man died of limb decapitation from a Ghost named Leekee Leekee. The last thing that the man heard from the ghost was "I am the Ghost of Leekee Leekee, And I have come to chop your Deekee Deekee!"
