where i worked we charged 1.50 and got like max .95 when gas was like 3.50. and we recived 5.15 an hour our store owner was rich too he had 20 stores.

To all of the people complaining about the high cost of the pizza and the delivery charge and using that as a reason not to tip, here's a suggestion. Learn how to make pizza from scratch, or get dressed, drive to the grocery store, and buy a frozen one. Having a pizza delivered to your house should be a treat when you can afford it. If you can afford $20 or more, you can afford 15% or more to tip. I never delivered pizza, but a hairstylist. We remember who the cheap customers are, too

First off YOUR TOO LAZY TO GET OFF YOUR ASS so you have someone deliver to your house a luxory for you and a convenience. second whos car is being used theirs not yours. bad weather you go no where you think its too bad for you but fine for the delivery person. cheap owners who dont pay minimum wage for delivery drivers. so you dont tip, if you can afford the delivered food you can afford a tip if you cant afford 5$ tip then you shouldnt be ordering to begin with

I've stopped having pizzas delivered thanks to posts from you guys. The hostility you drivers express toward the customer is astounding. We're not responsible for your $4/hr wage. Your boss is. You are. Comments like "YOU ARE STEALING MY WAGES!" and "I will remember your address" aren't helping your cause. At all.

Tell your boss to suck you balls if he thinks you're gonna work for $4/hr. Don't take it out on people that are already overpaying.

if you can afford to order delivered food you can afford a decent tip. remember this bad weather people have food delivered but do not treat the driver with any respect it is horriable to be stiffed when soking wet or driving in the snow. all 90% of drivers do is remember the people who treat us good and remember the plates napkins chees peppers and such, then we just deliver to them first when on multiple runs. why do people decide on a tip 90% of the time before leting the driver earn it.

for the delivery people, if gas is an issue then do what i did....get a motorcycle or a vespa scooter. they get like almost 100 miles to the gallon on a 2 gal. tank. they can be cheap to buy and they have side saddle bags and racks and stuff.

Most drivers are only paid minimum wage. Now that minimum wage has gone up, myself and many other drivers are now paid LESS than minimum wage! When min wage went to $6.55, my wage was CUT to $4 an hour while delivering pizza. This is called 'tip wage credit' where tips are allowed to make up for wages. I know I'm wasting my time...but consider what the delivery guy goes through to get you your food. (first of all,he's not going to quit. Sales in the food industry are declining, so people are getting fired, no one's getting hired). He has had a gun pointed at him more than once. He has been treated like shit because he works in the service industry. His whole paycheck barely pays his bills, and now his tips go to gas. And guess what people? He genuinely cares about the people who tip him.

Understand this: People don't realize it, but drivers DO remember those who tip and those who don't tip. It is the defining difference between whether you get your food first or later...whether you get apologies for delays or just shrugs...whether you get a smile and a heartfelt "have a good one!" or a sarcastic thanks...oh...and whether you get free food or not. Drivers dote on good-tippers, to the best of their ability...as much as they go through to bring EVERYONE their food on time.

It is a thankless job, but (and pardon the cliche) someone DOES have to do it.  How about this...if you don't want to tip the driver. Come in for pickup...OH! that's right. You don't want to waste money on gas! Drivers do it every day...and the corporations are doing NOTHING to cover the increasing gas prices. And the delivery charge is NOT gratuity. Like I said..tipping is a choice. A choice that can mean the difference between a driver going home with nothing...or something.

We have a regular who lives out in the middle of nowhere. We call it the Renshaw-order. Drivers will stab eachother in the back...for the Renshaw order. If you aren't a tipper...and you're house is 2 minutes away...and the Renshaw order came in 10 minutes AFTER your order...the Renshaw order is going FIRST. He tips $10 EVERY time. Every time. And we give him 50% off every time because of it.

Um, Domino's doesn't charge for delivery, but yes, you should tip their drivers, more so than places like Pizza Pizza who already charge you $3 and pay their drivers a higher per delivery wage.
