The two semi finals this year worked well for putting a good selection through to the final but then in the final everyone could vote again so we were back to the beginning. I would like to see only the countries that participate in the final voting to try and stop these votings. I don't mind eastern european countries winning if they have a good song like molitva, but many are pretty poor songs in my opinion.

eastern music choices for the comp are anything but poor if one compares them with the western ones - chiki chiki, sebastien tellier, andy, denmark, sweden etc etc...they were all below the poor line. the only exception THIS YEAR was norway for me - and even that song was an average r&b ballad that is clearly not a winning song

I agree that western countries often have bad song choices but then even the vest ones go nowhere. Look at sweden, that was a great song and did nothing. The UK deserved to come last but places like andorra didn't even get to the final with good songs. I had three favourites, two of them eastern, bosnia and herzegovina, slovenia and andorra, though I also loved sweden, latvia and ukraine.

Alot of the time an eastern country submits the best song but a good western song...

...but when the eastern countries have a good song it is thrown aside, maybe it is down to cultural preference and tastes in music but then if that's the case surely it should be a non biased jury that decides the winner, but I suppose that would take the fun out of ESC.

Theres a solution somewhere, but as of yet, it's not been found. I love ESC, I just don't like neighbours voting for each other, on reasons other than songs.

i doubt that...the-not-so-big big 4 are not the only sponsors of the competition and by no means the only 4 countries in europe that can finance the competition. as svante said there are enough sponsors of the competition that there will be more than enough money without the big 4 and with the diaspora there will also be not much of a drastic change in the number of viewers - so nxt yr await the big 4 in the semi-finals buddy (the only ones worthy of competing in a pub) or out of the comp

besides lets have the big 4 out of the comp and let the others worry about the venue location. the only thing they do for the comp is deminish it and present is as an artistic farse with their idiotic songs and they wouldnt be much of a loss to the comp anyway. they hogged the comp for 50 yrs playing eenie meenie miny moe amongst the west since the competitions conception -just look at how many times france, luxembourg & switzerland won as well as ireland & uk & i didnt see ussr boycott the comp

Now we have loads of eastern countries that seem to always split up from each other and form new countries, and the countries there are constantly changing, and it's still going on, now we have kosovo as a seperate country too! what next-seperation of bosnia and herzegovina?

their political agendas have nothing to do with the comp as i doubt athey are splitting up in order to achieve high placement in the esc. it is a fact that everyone has since the beginning of the comp voted for their neighbour for any and every reason imaginable and the main one isnt really politics but rather cultural bonds and similarities which these countries share - especially in their music tastes hence vote in the way they do

All major west and central should pull out. The countries that provide the most money to ESC...UK, Germany, and Spain should all pull out...and also countries that provide the best entertainment/songs like Greece, Turkey, Sweden...all should PULL OUT!
