Oil is a global disaster - one of the dirtiest industries on Earth, in both the eco-sense, and the ethical "Thou shalt not commit mass-murder" sense.
For millennia we rode horses, they go fast, pull buggies, chariots and carriages, and along with bulls, carts and ploughs. They are cheap or free to produce and run. We traded that for filthy oil. Poor us

@kimxxxyyy - You make many good points, but I disagree with your conclusion. Yes, it will be hard to return to Nature (easier if She decides to shrug 2/3 or more of us off and destroy the industrial infrastructure). But, if we did live a natural life, Mother Earth could support double the current population, easily. No more feeding 40% of the 3rd world's grain to our pigs and cows, so ppl can eat and waste cheap meat. No more pollution. Biodegradable living. Back to Nature, back to God! ^.^
