  • Nao entendi porra nenhuma! Hauahauahauahau

  • @Lavourah It's just reallly really hard to understand and he sounds spanish at the end. :P

  • thumbs up if you are portuguese and you don't understand wtf he is saying

  • Well.... i speak portuguese, it's my native language and this guy can't say a word in portuguese, he's terrible!

  • i could not understand a word

  • HHAHAHAH.... pelo menos ele tentou... Amo Shawn s2

  • what ep is that from??

  • Oh my god if I were his age I would marry James Roday... no I'd marry Shawn I'm not sure how funny James is.

  • @PineapplePyschic Lol. I love your username. Is it related with shawn? As he pretends to be a psychic and also loves pineapples? :))Although a little typo on the psychic thing. Anyway

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk q comedia!!! mais q portugues dificil d entender hein???kkkk

  • uau he REALLY can't speak portuguese... AT ALL

  • how do people miss that fact that this is a comedy lol

  • hahaha, Psych is incredibly awesome and random and funny as hell, my favy show :)

  • @Lecuser Random is DEFINITELY the word to describe the events that take place in this show. lmao!

  • whats this show called

  • @kris10ish Psych, it's really funny :)

  • @kris10ish its called psych or is it the specific episode that you are refering to? if so then its "theres something about mira" i highly recomend watching psych if you want to watch it for free just type side reel psych into the search bar and if you find an episode thats not on there type the episodes name along with the word megavideo i find that this is a reliable source even if it does come along with a time limit.

  • @megen1996 why cant i just watch it on tv ??

  • @kris10ish the season's over for the year, season 6 starts up again in july sometime on usa :) i recommend watching it then regardless, but to see the show from the start you'll have to go online or buy the dvds :)

it's an absolutely amazing show, so you should definitely give it a go :)

  • @kris10ish because one the seasons over it wil start again some time next summer but, in order to view the earlier seasons you either have to buy the dvds or go online. I, for one cant afford to buy the dvds so ive watched almost everything on the internet instead

  • @kris10ish if u get a netflix account u can watch it seasons 1-4 on ur computer

  • lol

  • qual é o episodio ? ?

  • @CarlaF17 11º episódio da 2ª temporada, "There's Something About Mira"

  • One who truly speaks Portuguese would never stress every other syllable as he did. For certain, the "se" would have been underemphasized and the "Só" would have had the stress.

Plus, it sounds like he says "peñas" instead of "penas" which is also wrong. No wonder it took me like four times to figure our what he was trying to get at.

  • @sdun86 Haha but thats what makes it funny =]

  • he is so cute in 0:20 - 0:24

    :P i <3 him and the show

  • lawl i understood it..at the 2nd time cos when he he says "usar as penas" (use the feathers) it looks like he is talking spanish so it would stay like "usá las peñas" and he said "peñas"

  • somente se você prometer que está a usar penas de cocar

  • only if u promise to use pens

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkk axei engraçado

  • guys dont you think all languages that he speaks sounds better when ever?

  • omg, I am portuguese and I didn't understand what he said loool

This made me laugh so hard

  • guys roday is half mexican so chill

  • last name is actually rodriguez...............roday is his stage/acting name

  • @sgreene350 yeah

  • Ha ha...these comments are ridiculous.

  • Thought I could point out: Shawn is not supposed to be smart. Half of what he says is completely wrong. He might have said it wrong on purpose.

  • @DanceWriteDream

he wouldn't be Shawn if he didn't keep you guessing.

  • He pronounced penas like "peñas", which is in Spanish. The actor must've assumed that the phonetics in Spanish and Portuguese are the same. Fact of the matter is that Spanish is closer to Italian in pronunciation, not Portuguese.

  • My translator says that, in Porguguese, it's "Only if you promise to use pens." In Spanish is "So promise to use it as punishment." But good try, Shawn!

  • this was spanish. there's no way that was portuguese. but it was a good try.

  • @bonesgotpsyched324 sorry he actually said: "só se prometer usar as penas", it has no "você"

  • @bonesgotpsyched324 nope that was portuguese

  • @bonesgotpsyched324 it was portuguese because of the verb "prometer"(promisse), he said: "só se você prometer usar as penas", only is accent is very bad, and don't try to contradict because i'm portuguese

  • He said 'Só se prometer usar as penas'.

  • And it sounds spanish because in america they learn spanish as a second language and not portuguese (just like in portugal we learn english french and german)

  • I think it means (roughly) he promotes the use of pineapples. Which is interesting since every episode has a pineapple reference.

  • No, it means 'Only if you promisse to wear the feathers'. :)

  • @DKRFilms where'd u get your translation cuz my translator says "To only promise itself to use the penalties"

  • Im portuguese and I speak fluent english. :)

  • @DKRFilms Yes. "Só se prometer usar as penas" would be the correct saying. I just think he started really well and then slipped into the spanish for a bit at the end.

  • i dunno how the guy in blue can keep a straight face hearing that XD and why do i feel like shawn should be holding a pineapple upside down cake? LOL.

  • yes... the accent is incorrect.. it was a good try:).... parece que ele diz"so sei prometer"... engracado....

  • WTF DID HE SAY? I was raised speaking portuguese!

  • lol my anscestors were portuguese! (I think) :) Good try Shawn.

  • HAHAHAHA I'm brazilian 'n I didn't understand anything he said at all ;) It sounds like spanish, not portuguese.

  • portugues aonde???lol.... pareceu é espanhol

  • tens razao... eu nem percebi xD

  • eu entendoo! eu sou do Brasil! :DDD

  • He was trying to say "Só se prometer usar as penas" which is, like he said, Only if you promise to wear the feathers in portuguese. The problem was that the accent he used was spanish and italian mixed together. He wasnt speaking spanish, he just used a weird accent.

  • * "Only if you promise to wear the feathers" in portuguese

  • lol that's portuguese all right , but a very bad portuguese , god try x)

  • LOOOL something something.. prometer..something.. pinhas!

wtf? xD thats not portuguese xD

  • he sounds sexy in any language. real or made-up.

  • guys seiriously.. leave him alone.. it was meant to be funny because Shawn speaks horrible spanish.. but in real life, James is half Mexican, and admits his first language was Spanish, even though his mother eventually weeded it all out because she didn't speak a word of it. So... James was butchering the language on purpose to make it funny. Leave it at that! please!

  • @Coconutty01 i <3 when he speaks spanish :)

  • @Coconutty01 thanx u!!

  • @Coconutty01 oooh my god is this real or are you joking. btw huge fan!!!! hahha

  • @1JKCOOL James Roday is also his stage name, he was born with the last name Rodriguez.

  • the guy mixed portuguese with spanish.....pineapple = abacaxi in portuguese, piña in spanish

  • shawn has a pineapple on his shirt!!!!

  • Shawn is so obbsessed w/ pineapples XD Its so amazing!

  • no it's portuguese, but it's not clear enough; Something like: So se le prometer .... pinhas^^

  • Looks Spanish Italian

  • i'am portuguese and i can only understand "so se ele prometer..."

  • thats italian...

  • Comment removed

  • it sounded more like italian

  • when i first saw the show i guessed james wuz mexican and i wuz rite!!! lolz

  • so entendi ele a dizer : só sei prometer e qualquer coisa pinhas lol

  • Shawn is funny :p

    Gus too.

  • Did you guys know that he is Mexican? His real last name is Rodriguez

  • Who? James Roday?

  • Yeah.

  • He is Half-Mexican.

  • nah way. :)

  • não entendi merda nenhuma...

  • I'm pretty sure the point was no matter what he spoke, as long as it would come across as possibly being Brazilian, they would learn whether or not he was telling the truth.

In the end, it didn't matter whether or not he spoke Brazilian or not. All that mattered was the response he got from it

  • there is NO language in the world called brazilian. brazilian people speak portuguese.

  • Comment removed

  • that's a horrible portuguese, Shawn! i had to hear it thousands of times to get it, and only after a friend told me that!

but it's Shawn, we know he makes fun of everything, so he's forgiven. this time! :D

    i'm Brazillian, by the way.

  • Don't get me wrong, I really liked the reference! it's pretty funny! We rarely see things like these on american television. and I liked it A LOT! :DD

  • o gajo diz. "Só se prometer usar as penas" mas só percebi á terceira ou quarta...lol

The guy realy speaks portuguese...but very very very badly, i only understood it the third or foutrh time i heard it

  • Sim, comigo foi o mesmo, porque ele diz "las peñas". Houve aí uma pequena mistura com o espanhol. xD

So yeah, the guy does speak portuguese, but says a couple of words in spanish.

  • @kikas3456 oh, I presumed since a lot of words in spanish and portuguese are alike, that it was correct...perhaps I'm mistaken, lol

  • @kikas3456 james roday speaks spanish fluently. he probably had to learn the portuguese but accidentally slipped into spanish at the end

  • @whitelotus234 Totally understandable.

  • haha i love all these replies saying "im portuguese and i didnt understand a word of that!!".....its becuase he made it up you morons..or becuase your not portuguese

  • Well, I'm portuguese and you can actually understand what he says in the beginning, but then it stops making sense.

Although I think that's because of the character, really. He knew the other guy was lying about going to Portugal, so it didn't really matter if he messed up, I guess.

  • you can actually understand nothing of what he says...

  • that's not true. it makes sense and means something. it's a bad bad BAD portuguese mixed with spanish, but after listening to it for a while you can get it. and laugh a LOT! :)

  • Or because they suck at their own language.

BTW, I'm portuguese and I got it the first time.

O shawn fala portugues, ou alias, espanhes, hehe.

  • Não seria Portuñol? Pelo menos é assim que o povo fala por aqui. XD

  • portuguese?

    sounds like greek!!!

  • i am portuguese and i don't understand a word of that

  • I TOTALLY LOVE PSYCH!!! :)-

    best show EVA.

when does the new season start?

  • july

  • agust @ fri at 10

  • haha, I am portuguese, and I thought it was hilarious, it would actually be, so se prometeres que nao tiras o teu chapeu de penas. So the last word was correct, ahah, I love psych, hands down my favorite show

  • Haha! Hadn't think of that one. xD

  • Pretty much all Anglophones whether American or English or Australian etc., have funny accents when they speak Spanish which is even worst then their speak French.

  • Shawn is hilarious. So unfortunate you decided to speak.

  • Lol! James Roday is awesome!

  • lol I've seen this episode but I never knew he was saying it wrong, so funny. XD

  • It was supposed be funny people. Chill out!

  • i'm portuguese and that's not portuguese guys

  • what episode is this?

  • This is from the 11th episode of the second season - "There's Something About Mira"

  • I think its spanish.... portuguese from portugal its diferent....

  • his real name is actually james rodriguez.. hahahaha

  • Well, he said: "So sé prometer usar las peñas"

in Portuguese it would be like: "Só se prometer usar as penas".

Although the accent didn't helped him, he also mixed-up words: "las peñas". In portuguese it would be "as penas" (feathers).

  • i'm portuguese and i didnt understand what he just said! thanks for the translations!xD

  • The actor James Roday has a spanish background of some sort, I've heard him mention it, but never went into any detail.

  • he's half mexican

  • "there's something about mira"

  • O per lamore del Dio

    That would be Italian

  • I don think that people realize how similar portuguese, italian and spanish really are!

  • Being Portuguese myself, I can see some similarities, but that's not always like that. It really depends on the words... Some are almost the same thing, but others don't really have anything in common.

  • i do realize that. i learnt spanish from watching tv and once i like went with school on one presentation that was in slovenian and italian and i almost understood everything in italian because it is so similiar to spanish and the words that are not similiar to spanish are similiar to english.

  • Portuguese and Spaninsh have a lot of similarities, if you speak one, you can understand the other. But I'm Brazilian, and I don't see too many similarities between Portuguese and Italian, I find Italian hard to understand, even if I'm reading it instead of listening it.

  • i just think he was talking gibberish that sounded kinda like portuguese so he could trick da guy into confessing, i mean sean does that alot, it woud b typical of him!

c'mon 'only if u promise to keep your feather headress on' ? what da hell. lol

  • i agree.

  • Haha, anyone who's seen the show can tell that he doesn't know what he's saying..."Only if you promise to keep your feathered head-dress on"? Effin' classic.

  • To all those who are confused, James Roday is in fact Hispanic. Here's a little tip: His full name: James Roday Rodriguez.

    I know. I couldn't believe it either.

  • well

his name is James David Rodriguez

roday is just a shortend verson of his last name.

  • No, actually, it's his mother's maiden name, which would traditionally also be part of his name, so James David Roday Rodriguez.

  • it sounds alot like italian... 0_o lol

  • I don't know, maybe...

I know it is NOT Portguese, though... xD

  • I am brazilian and am shure that that wasn't portugese.

  • I think he knows the guy doesn't speak portuguese so he's just saying anything he wants to confuse him and get him to confess that he's never been to portugal.

  • This episode was weird. I remember going "Wtf? The writers actually managed to make the characters OOC. 0_0"

  • it sounded like catalan to me...

  • Interesting... Didn't think of that... WEll, Portuguese I'm sure it isn't. xD

  • Portuguese is the brazil it be talking jargon

    kkkk só eu entendi

  • This is not portuguese!! It's spanish xD

Nobody knows anything about Portugal -.-'

  • Yeah... the thing is there used to be a portuguese guy in the crew, but he wasn't anymore when this episode was shot, so... ^^,

Maybe they liked the idea of something that had Portugal in it, but then it didn't go all that well... xD

  • At least they talked about our little and unknown country xD

  • True! You don't see that very often... and specially in one of your favorite tv shows, you just feel a bit better... ^-^

  • Well i'm spanish and i can't understand him, if it is really spanish the sentence doesn't make any sense.

Maybe is his accent or i'm completely deaf

  • I think it's a mix between portuguese and spanish lool

  • accent? James Roday is hispanic

  • that's the thing I'm from Spain and if it's spanish he speaks really fast with his mexican accent. I can understand something like (something)prometer(something)las peñas

  • I think he starts with Portuguese and then messes up...

Because, to me, he says something like "Só se prometer..." and then I don't get any thing else portuguese there...

  • Wat? no he's not.

  • uhhhh yeah he is

  • they mention Portugal more than once in this show, like going to Lisbon...and this :)

  • Btw... I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

  • This is not portuguese at all...

I´m brazillian, we talk portuguese, and i cant understand any word.. the last word sounds like spanish, but no portuguese at all!

  • I agree. I took Spanish in high school and it sure sounds like it to me.

  • Yeah, I know... I'm portuguese myself. From Portugal, really, and I didn't get all of it... I got the first bit, but the ending doesn't sound like anything portuguese to me... =P

And I just got addicted to this show... :) It's awesome!

  • Lol well since he is Hispanic ---and several ppl get Portuguese and Spanish mixed up but that's not the point---Anyways it's hard enough to speak one language let alone two. Now even though they are two completely different languages they still are very similiar and it could maybe very well be force of habit since i am assuming he grew up around Spanish and he's now speaking a language he's unfamiliar with
