With that much accuracy why go for hitting the heart/lungs? I'd be going for headshots!! At my usual hunting range of ~75 feet it take the bolt only 0.18 seconds to reach the target. If I had the $1,600 for the new TAC 15i version I'd snap this thing up. I do agree that this is the best crossbow.
now if only it had that shotgun pump action mechanism instead of the crankshaft. I understand why they need the crankshaft. But by the time you cock the string back, your target either 1) got away 2) killed you 10 times.
I have a question. Will an Airsoft m4 lower work with this? Because I don't currently own a real AR-15 (cheaped out and got an ak74) and an airsoft lower would be a heck of a lot cheaper than a real AR lower.
@huntnfishtosurvive you can silence the crank by depressing part of the mechanism as you cock it, besides, it would already be cocked and loaded by the time you saw your quarry, so you would just have to draw a bead and fire
The crossbow is not 1400lb, it is 175-200. 80# is too small for deer and such, but it is fun to shoot. The strength of the strings on the ar-15 is 1400 lbs, not the draw weight.
Awesome! but ya AR reciever not realy necessary!! Cant buy an AR 15 in SA for a start :( Are there other bows with a crank mechanism? need to do large scale culls but so need a carnk!?
@TheSurferdogg yeah you can buy other bows with a crank, or dawing aid, just outta interest what part of S.A and what are you culling? im just getting into crossbow hunting atm
@oldstock1607 it's for people who are used to their handy rifles and the weight it takes to actually set the trigger off. its is a lot more like shooting the AR than a crossbow and they are trying to achieve the comfort of a rifle.
cross bows are like inline muzzleloaders . It's cheating cheating to use them during bow season. I'm glad it's illegal to use them during hunting season here unless your disabled.
If your deer doesn't die quickly then you are doing it wrong and should not be hunting bow. Also i don't hunt bow anymore I hunt black powder with a .50 cal flint lock.
I can't believe you made that comment. I did the same exact thing. I no longer bow hunt and hunt only black powder. Most states offer great seasons for the smoke pole. Was in SD last year. Say Whitetail that were unreal. Couldn't make an ethical shot. Don't want to wound a 5-7 year deer. Rather see it walk away and have the memory in my mind !
why is there a crossbow at an ATA show (amatuer trapshooting association) unless thats a different ATA. other than that this thing is wicked this should have been in a rambo mvie
make it shorter, add a pump-cocking mechanism, a bolt magazine either at the top or at the bottom, and a bull pup configuration. Also include an extra rail at the bottom for grenade launchers, laser sights, etc.
If you're walking with a bunch of Boot wearing Bigfoots making noise I highly doubt you're going to hear a crossbow bolt headed your way especially one traveling as fast as this one does.....
it is a whisker biscuit style rest for the bolt. The bolt sets in this disk and passes through it when shot. Just like the whisker biscuit on a compound bow.
its kind of like a novelty thing almost, i mean i wouldnt buy one seriously but if i had plenty of money to waste and time to mess around with an AR-15, i would definitely get this, cuz i mean its just so fucking cool
Crossbows are NOT bows. The hand held bow has one characteristic that distinguishes it from a crossbow or any type of firearm. The internal ballistics are a function of the shooter, his or her physical geometry and capabilities, shooting form, consistency, and reaction to stress and trauma. In the crossbow and other types of firearms, the internal ballistics are fixed. Every action of the VERTICAL BOW shooter contributes something either positive or negative to the interior ballistic process.
Unless someone makes a AR-15 lower receiver or some functional facsimile, so that it can't ever be used as a firearm component, everyone but us Americans are probably out of luck.
You know, I'd write PSE and say you'd be interested in a version you can actually get past your government. :)
:) Nice of you! May be they must think something about their foreign customers. I've heard from our local dealer that they will also use the base from Kalashnikov, but somehow i don't believe it :) :) :)
Crossbows are archery and shoot an arrow just like any bow they should be legal for the entire bow hunting season. Sure this thing may be fast with lots of energy but imagine taking it up a tree stand or stalking with it, a vertical bow would be way easier to use.
Even at 412 fps I would not shoot an animal at more than 30 yards. The only true advantage a crossbow has is the bow is cocked and you don't have to draw. The down side is they make lots of noise and balky. Its still a bow.
That's just dumb...I'm not sure what the point is? You can get great accuracy with much less draw weight and speed and still harvest deer. This just gives ammo to the anti-crossbow types out there, and from a vertical bow manufacturer!
I would not say that I am an anti-crossbow hunter. I just don't think that it should be used in the early archery season. Put it in the regular season, thats all.
Yeah, I have been waiting for such a crossbow, I mean, this kind of crossbow is the real hunting crossbow, like hunters used in the mediaval times. My only problem is.. I think this crossbow has a price that an avarage crossbow archer can not pay... :(
I think this particular crossbow is because of it's range issues, but not others. I have hunted with a horton crossbow for the last 7 years and am making the switch to compound for the benefits: less weight, noise, size, concealability and yes more range. My cross bow is so loud even with the sims system that anything passed 25 yards a deer will jump the string after the shot.
LISTEN to the video. In addition to range, you have a cocking device that allows users to pull 170 lbs,its shoots 412fps,has 160 fp of kinetic energy, its serviceable w/out a bow press, has an anti dry fire mechanism, the Representative said that NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED TO SHOOT ACCURATELY,you can carry it around cocked and loaded,it is equipped with a stock,a forearm,a scope, its held at the shoulder when fired,it has a safety,a bipod, and anyone can shoot it.Does that sound like a compound to you?

That's one loooooong crossbow. It gets 1 inch groups at 100 yards because the bow's already touching the target! :D
If I want to decock my 150 pound crossbow, I can do it by hand. I can cock it much faster than their hand crank.
$1299 retail price... plus the price of an AR-15. Seriously, it might be worthwhile at 500 bucks, but $1300 is way too much.

OK, I know this is an advanced model but this is the case for most crossbows.

I honestly don't think you are very well informed with crossbows. They have more disadvantages than the trigger and others advantages can make up for.
I would be much more confident with a compound than a crossbow out in the open. Now inside a blind or box you have some room to talk.
