To think that there was once a time when actual music was popular. Pop music has gone down the shitter.
I hope and pray every day that somebody will get up on stage and rock it out again. And, no, I don't mean a fucking ancient rock reunion group or anything like that. We need to keep rock music alive. What's wrong with the youth today?
I'm almost sure that Johnny Marr used the riff Weller plays at 2:14 , for his This Charming Man (The Smiths). You can hear it in the studio version of this song.
wow... you may be right... but it kinda makes sense an awesome band (Smiths) possibly paying homage to this freakin' amazing song. The composers of The Smiths both liked The Jam didn't they?
Oh yes! (Singer) Morrissey covered That's Entertainment, and described A Town Called malice as a ''timeless record''. And Johnny Marr recently played that same song on stage with Paul Weller.
weller was a genius at this point " you pull out some weed and the bullets are warm when your young" fucking brilliant lyrics and fucking great song!!!! what a band they were.
England at this time was unmatched for Rock Bands. From the other side of the pond I could just watch and revel in the genius that was springing up from behind every verge.
In the US you would to the local Record Shop and every freaking week there was a new 7" of brilliance arriving from England.
Oi mates! Absolutely top! The best of all time lads and I wish I had just that much cool in me pinky....phuck! They all sound so great here. Thanks for posting!
This is possibly the greatest episode of a music program ever. Watching the two bands' performances from completely different things (JD on here, The Jam on their DVD, etc.) is like piecing together the Grail Tablet in Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade.
Lovely Rickenbacker sound shit wish I was young again cheers for the post

This lasted from 1977 to 1982 or abouts.
