  • With our electric costs 4 times higher than the US and 40% import duty on already very expensive A/C equipment, I'm willing to try anything to lower the sweltering heat and I do not live in a trailer home! Even if it just sat on my desk and kept me cool while I work on my pc, it would be worth it! Good on you for being so ingenious. I just might give it a shot myself.

  • @barbalote2

i wasnt saying salt water would be a good idea, i was saying that salt water is very easy to make by putting salt in water. look at the comment i was replying to.

    good video BTW

  • @xFallenAngelx

"could you make your own salt water"

no offense, but if you pur salt in water you get...

  • @KillerInTheShadows6

the salt will deposit in the radiator....

  • Stacking two fans would only increase the torque of the air pushed but it won't increase the cfm.

  • Good idea but it's not really efficent :) Frosting the water is probably heating your house more than cooling it. And you need energy for freezing and then again for cooling...

  • just remember to clean your cooling coil

  • If the inside of the aluminum cooler was coated in a corrosion resistant material you could use saltwater in your cooler which would produce a much colder air.

  • @gridarmorfix really? that's interesting. Could you make your own saltwater or would you have to get it from the beach/ocean/lake, etc..?

  • Nice

  • Yep def a trailer

  • i think i saw that on the a show called trailler park boys haha

  • @ErJerProductionsx

    good for you!

  • is the fan pulling the air from the comprsr or puting in the air in the comprsr??and how did u placed the comprsr ?? comprsr= radiator

  • Grate idea. Is that a heat exchanger for a cars heat?

  • great job i liked the part about the aquarium filter now go buy a real one

  • Not being funny, but I bet this guy lives in a trailer.

  • @2003MARSSKILLS

why are you assuming that everyone is like you?

stop being a sad little boy!

  • @2003MARSSKILLS Who cares where he live...At least he has some skills you most likely don't have.

  • cool cold air conditioner :D 5* ..did you made yourself or buy it from somewhere?!

  • @RomanKnight88

    i made it :)

  • @barbalote2

the link you put in is broken..could you make an instructional? also, how big of a space did this cool? I like the sudden drop in temp when you held the temp sensor up to it..

  • Were did ya get da radiator from

  • what kind of Digital Humidity Temperature Monitor Thermometer you are using???where i can buy it? it seems really fast to check the current temperature, looks like usb and seems super portable too! thank you for the answer!

  • @seemegzllusion

the model is 'basetech mini 1', i have it from Germany, it only measures temperature, in Celsius and Fahrenheit. it's not usb but very portable and it has fast measuring.

    try searching on the web.

  • this reminds me of my portable swamp cooler i bought years and years ago. doesnt cool like an airconditoner but it helps

  • I dont know if i want to try to make this or not but it is better then the other vids on youtube with the copper tubes and foam coolers that like to leak.

  • the oil radiator seems like it would work better than some fucking copper tubing, that's for sure.

  • @1978atcarroll

it does, it's made for dispersing heat or cold :)

  • dont think connecting the PC fans like that would work well either why not put one on either side? one sucking one blowing

  • @techgoofdotinfo

i tried them like that, this is the best configuration for the fans.

  • @barbalote2 yea thinking about it theres actually a helicopter that uses the same idea. 2 sets of blades. my computer actually blows out cool air but then my laptop pushes out twice that in heat.

cool unit tho. i don't really need air con being in a basement lol

  • lol oh btw im not talking about the banana helicopters im talking about helicopters with 2 rotors on on top of the other.

  • Can i use coolant rather than water?

  • @TheGlueFace

    yeah , why not.

  • @barbalote2

So would it be really cold?

    is it worth making it?

because im looking forward to do one as soon as i come back home

my idea is to use coolant and ice packs

and search for something like copper tubing or a radiator if i can get my hands on one

but my question is = is it really worth it? is it cold?

  • @TheGlueFace

it did worth it for me at the time.

don't expect too much from it(it's not an A/C) , but on a really hot day you put it in front of you and it will cool you down, if you have enough ice to keep changing it , it is capable to cool a room down as much as you like, but it will take some time. i have a real A/C now , portable one and it takes about 1 hour to cool 1 degree centigrade in my room.

  • Try using multiple coils and spread your flow across more area and it will flow faster.

  • it looks cute XD no sarcasm..!!

  • great idea having the frozen water bottles saves even more on ice!!

  • Cool

  • Wow about 55* that's awesome

  • I'm using a very small diameter refrigerator radiator but the problem is it's about a quarter of a centimeter and i'm using a 1/2 inch pond pump with it, the pump runs at a high rpm all the time and very little water comes out, there's no cloggs it's just hard to pump through such small tubing, any ideas? Cool ac thoe :)

  • @MrTpengineer

i non't know, try a fuel pump from a car, that pumps through small tubing .

    or an aquarium pump.

    good luck.

  • @barbalote2 ok thx, i'll try it :)

  • Hi,

Nice job dear.I am from India and the part I am living in is quite humid. Now let me know will it work in high humid places? As you have told the radiator is oil cooled now where should i put the oil and which oil?

Can i use a peltier plate to cool the water?(keep it in mind the quantity of the water)

    Thanks

  • @darmarbera

yes it will work in high humidity, the radiator is not oil cooled , it is an oil radiator from a car but there is only water running in it. you can use peltier plates they work great but keep in mind the power consumption of those plates.

  • good improvement for cooling conditions 13 degrees celcius and reuse car radiator too nice good idea

  • Looking Cool

  • @Donbadajoz I hate asinine comments where people whinge and complain about nothing because they have no life

  • It's cheaper to buy an AC that you don't have to "recharge" every min. Besides, this is so redneck...

  • good job!

  • @bluefly46

    thanks

  • hey i wanted 2 ask.. is it possible 2 make this air con with out ice? just like a normal liquid colling system? and also can you make an air compressor with jsut differnt size tubing? that way you will an heat exdchanger with out the need of ice? plz message me back i need 2 make an ac fast!!

  • @toxicliquid1

you can make one using a couple of thermoelectric plates(thats how mine works now), and that will cool the water down.

it will not work with an air compressor, you need something that evaporates to suck the heat from the air around it. good luck!

  • @barbalote2 Can we see a video of your improved AC unit?

  • cool idea, great for short applications in hot places. but one question- when the air goes through the outer radiator, there is condensate. where does that go? or does the floor around the machine just get really wet?

  • @flyboy21141

there is a small hole near the heat sink (the one on which the radiator sits on) and the water drips in the cooler box.

that's why i put the heat sink there, to make an inward dent in the lid of the box.

  • Hey how do you suppose that would work if it were dry ice in that ice chest...even colder? and last longer?

  • @ICUC007

it won't work, the dry ice will freeze the water and it will stop running in the pipes!

  • @barbalote2 well shucks. ok, thanks

  • @barbalote2 well shucks..ok, thanks

  • This is great! I made my version last summer using a broken window a/c unit, I removed the compressor, cut tubes on evap coil, hooked insulated tubing to them, connected to water pump, placed in a cooler of ice water, and wired the pump to a low voltage isolation relay in conjunction with the a/c units thermostat, so the water pump shuts off when room cools to temp. I can cool my 10 by 10 bedroom to 68 on a 84 degree day with low humidity, only drawback is it does not dehumidify like an a/c

  • @theonemam omg you got 2 teach me . i want 2 make an air con with out ice water. and jsut using a simple air compresoor ( like differnt size tubing 2 create an commpressing effect. and passing air though an radiator. got any idears?

  • Unlimited energy sources are out there! But the Establishment doesn't want ppl to know this,Find the real deal, a free energy device at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be a part of the energy revolution!

  • OK NOW THATS INTELLIGENT!!!!

  • so will it cool a small room ??????

  • YOUR MY HERO!!

  • cool yea

  • I made one using the same principle but I ran it through the heater core in my 92 s-10 and it works so good you have to cycle the water pump on and off to keep from getting too cold in the truck. I got the interior of the truck down to 58 F once! I like the idea of using the bottles mine burns through ice too fast.

  • this is amazing i have all of these parts laying around my garage, how did u mount the fans just screwed right into the frame? what kind of battery are they hooked to?

  • @poorforlife21

    yeah there just screwed in.

there is no battery, the fans run on 12 v but i have them hooked up to a 18v transformer and work fine they spin faster.

  • I think the idea is instead of buying a $100 1500W 8000 BTU window unit to cool a large room or multiple rooms you can use the already existent smaller more energy efficient Refridgerator compressor to "store some cold" in a few 2L bottles for quiet use in one small area of the house. This is far better than a fan, I think you got Mr. Dyson beat.

  • it will fill more humidity in the room which will b so hard to live in . isnt it ?

  • @nadeem5476 Not really because the water part of it stays in the cooler or sealed in the tubing. If anything the cold heat exchanger will condense water and remove humidity.

  • wow nice work dude ! is it an oil cooler from a car ? ;-)

  • @Tennassy

    thanks dude, yes it is

  • 5 stars work

  • @TELORINODELHOYO

    thanks

  • Uhm, I don't know how much energy costs where you live but freezing 8L of water is not cheap. I dare you to build one with a real compressor next time ;-)

  • @Maverick104729

    it's not that expensive,

if i buy the compressor ,evaporator and condenser, i will be batter of buying the real thing ;-)

  • @Maverick104729 why yer freezer is on anyway and yer supposed to keep yer freezer full anyway

  • @Maverick104729 It really is pretty cheap. A consequence is a warmer kitchen though! But that's ok if you're just cooling like your bedroom a few weeks a year.

  • @Maverick104729 I dare YOU to build one that will only run on 12 volts.

  • Possibly the best idea for summer i will get on to Making one also

  • Awesome

  • hello there

  • Hi,

I wanted to ask few questions about your air conditioner:

-Will this work in a high humidity climate, like in Florida, or will it work only in dry climate?

-I also wanted to ask you how long it will take to cool down a passenger car - I really want to make one for my car, after finding out that fixing my car's AC would cost at least 750$ for parts and labor.

    Thank you very much

  • @mosheg77

it will work in any climate, if you live in a high humidity climate, the water vapor will condensate on the radiator so you will have to make a hole in the cooler box top fore the water, so it will be able drain in the box.

i have no idea how long it will take to cool down a passenger car, but i think that it will do it fast enough.

    good luck

  • whats that on the top ?

  • that's AWSOME!

best homemade a/c i've seen on youtube.

  • thanks man

  • Do you know the cooler fan diameter and litres of cooler box?

  • the fan diameter 4.72 inch, and the box 2.5 to 3 gallons

  • Comment removed

  • Could you tell me the power and flow rate of the pump?

Also could you give more information about the car oil radiator (from which car, year etc)?

  • i have no idea for power and flow rate of the pump.

you will not find the car in the US, it is a Romanian car.

it dose not matter what car you take the radiator of, it just has to be a radiator.

  • @barbalote2 you can get a heater core from a car and use that. They are about the same size thats on the video. call the junkyards.

  • @oneslowride

    exactly

  • @oneslowride Actually call Kragen Auto parts I just purchased a 73' ford truck heater core for 19.99..brand new....

  • for a home made air conditioner it works fine

  • pls tell me how much area keep cool for this ac thanks

  • a room about 4 meters by 5 meters

  • really great dude! thanks for giving an idea, its hot in the phils.!

  • thanks

  • nice design....those look like computer case fans

  • whered u get that temp pen thing?

  • from Germany

  • it looks great, where do i get the radiator like yours?

  • from a car

  • how to made it? can u explain tihs in detail plz

  • @ray891011 you can see the old VW bus or a bike one are small

and the 12volts fan from a computer power supply

  • I enjoy watching people make useful things...you are a badass, thank you!

  • thanks a lot, i appreciate it. :))

  • the cooler is from a 20 year old romanian car

'oltcit', but it doesn't matter what car it is from.

i used this one because it has small intake and outlet holes and i can use thin hoses.

the fans work on 12 volts and the pump on 220 volt, there might be 12 volt ones, i don't know. you could use electric fuel pump from a car that works on 12 volts.

  • can you please make a vid on how to make it(diy)?

  • where did you got that heat sink plz tell me

  • computer gpu cooler, the heat sink has no role, just to hold the radiator of the plastic.

  • thanx for the reply

  • can you make a video of how you made it?

  • 13 degrees

  • @anderas You know thats in celsius right?

  • nice

  • thats awesome is that a tranmisshin cooler?

  • it's oil cooler, oil from engine.

  • Cool air conditioner.
