Fantastic film, full of symbolism representing Spain in the final years of Franco. The house represents Franco's Spain - it's old, falling down with an empty swimming pool. For me the most telling lines are when Ana often says "Quiero que te mueras" - said to her aunt but it is really the emerging young Spain saying it to the old dictator.

One of my favourite movies ever. It gets under your skin: childhood, memories, great music, and the kids all too cute, especially Ana. Buy the movie, it's more than worth. Another masterpiece with Ana Torrent: " The spirit of the beehive" by Victor Erice (Spain).

Me encanta esa película, es maravillosa. Lo vi por primera vez con mi madre hace 20 anyos y aún me acuerdo de la canción. Se me metió en la cabeza y no se me quitó nunca. La primera canción en castellano que conocía. Gracias por poder recordarlo después de tantos anyos, me hizo despertar emociones únicas!
