yup yup, just got this one too. I did my research and could not find anything better. I even compared it to 4 season, 800 dollar tents. The material is high quality.
This is a nice tent. Is there any mesh on the top pf the tent body? Does it come with a gear loft? Great video. Please note I live in my tent year round 365 days a year. I need a tent that will keep me dry and sheltered
@iruleallday I have owned the Mountain Pass(both 2 & 3 xte) and seeing them side by side the with the Apex...
Hands down the Mountain Pass is a more solid model, that utilizes heavier materials, and the fly is full coverage as mentioned in the review above.
You do have a weigh trade-off though. The Mountain Pass is a lil on the heavy side but its a very solid tent. Not quite as solid as my HIlleberg but no slouch in this regard.
...basically roll up the fabric and just have mesh covering the entry points to maximize ventilation in warm weather. Buttoned up there is a bit of condensation that accumulates on the fly inner but its no big deal. This happens with just about any double wall tent. I have used these in snow as well.
I own the 2 man and the 3 man version of these tents. They are bomber. I have actually had alot of correspondence with Eureka in regards to this model. I think it is better suited as a 3.5/convertible model. For the price they are pretty tough to beat. I have had many tents over the 30yrs I have been backpacking, Hillebergs, Big Agnes, and many more. If you are not weight conscious these are awesome. Nice to see a vid on them. Another thing is the door panels can be zipped to mesh entry covers.
@jshaley Yeah the timberlines are good tents. old school but cool. you'd be surprised if its not torn up bad you might have some one buy it for more than ya think! Your gonna love the mountain pass though. I just don't know why it's not promoted more. you'll see what i mean when ya get it. enjoy glad I could help!
Trouble is you did a great review on the Spitfire 2 as well! But the 3xte is bigger and most of the camping I do is with a group (scouts or family) so I think we will go for the 3xte now and I can consider the Spitfire later. Replacing a 22 year old Timberline 2 and a much newer Eureka The Timberline was a rock solid performer for many years - the Tetragon was disappointing. No more FG poles for me!
@jshaley No problem, you've probably checked the specs already the fly and floor exceed most 4 season tents, in my experience it handles up to almost a foot of snow no problem, heavy winds and rain are no problem either.! Enjoy this tent it will be your favorite.

Done deal - ordered the 3xte today. Now have to figure out to get my trusty (ratty?) old Timberline 2 to the curb without shedding tears ;<)

Respond to this video... I agree the tetragon is a bust, FG poles no good, the apex is a good tent, the just need aluminum poles to make them great.

Thanks. I think you saved me a couple hundred bucks. Was looking at 4 season but this 3.5 looks fine
