today out walking the dog i ran into philip steir (who was the summer in Consolidated). it was great to see him and have the chance to chat.
great to see this video after so many years. i happened to be on the street the day they were out and around the financial district making this video i encountered them on new montgomery and thought "who the hell are these guys with the megaphone?".
I haven't heard this song in... oh, wait. I listened to it just last week! Great track, and brings back some great memories. I got to see Consolidated in concert back in the day. Small club concerts rule!
Here's a little music trivia: Philip Steir, a remixer perhaps best known for his mix of Steppenwolf - "Magic carpet ride" for the "Go" movie soundtrack (often incorrectly attributed online to Fatboy Slim or to Moby), and for his remix of the theme from the film "300", was an original member of Consolidated. I only learned that recently, but I can definitely tell the similarities in sound, even after fifteen-odd years.
Funny, i remember when they played in Hamburg in 90 or so..there was a flyer floating around saying they were Stalinist...and the first thing they did even before the concert started was to state "We are not Stalinist!" and then a small number of people immediately left the Concert..LOL. It was cool though, i liked them.
The audio is perfectly fine, geez. When I read that comment, I was expecting something with horrible, glitchy sound, and this sounds completely o.k. to my ears.
Thanks for putting this up! Excellent stuff, and it was good to find this memory on YouTube this AM.
Wake up! You'll address and rectify a personal history of general disregard for all life - human and environmental. You'll behave in a manner befitting your stature. You'll exhibit profound humility in the company of all women and peoples of color. You'll abstain from acts of idol or wrongful gratification. You'll abstain from substance abuse or profit off exploitation. This is no consumer product, help us win the war against inequality - racist, sexist, and economic before it's too late.
The manifesto - this is truly great. I'm so glad this is here... Thank you!!! (Saw you guys back in the 90s - you still rock and your words still carry so much weight.)
don't worry, we'll be wearing the chinese digs before long. already wearing their threads. (where's gandhi when you need him?)

Haven't heard this in a LONG time. I think I disagree almost 100% with them politically and philisophically, but the song is great.

Great band and are even better live! The open mic forum at the end of their show was always intense to say the least. Thanks for posting.

Consolidated hasn't been shown on TV.
Consolidated is not obtainable in stores.
Consolidated is not even a consumer product...yet.
This is no rock and roll band.
It's a unique creative vision
of a small, isolated group of individuals.
A team that's skilled and dedicated, searching for the knowledge
that will enable them to improve the quality of their lives
and the lives of those around them.

You'll reassess and prioritize your life in accordance
with the principles of intelligence, compassion, and accountability.
The status of family, friends, and community are foremost

This is no rock and roll band.
It's a democratically executed forum
for social and political transformation...in effect!
