  • Can you upgrade to lion with this

  • i cant understand this nerd talk

  • same mother board !!!!

  • Hey, I wondering if you could answer a question for me. If you where just to copy the hardware that apple use, say copy the iMac motherboard, graphics card etc is that a way to get everything to work?

  • how is it a scma whne evrythin works?

  • THANKS A LOT FOR THIS WARNING, I was thinking on it and close to buy one.

thanks beline also and will go to google and lokked for chameleon or boot-132.

Again thanks a lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice video

  • @loubano its not a scam, scamming means to cheat or to trick, but the product does exactly what it says it does, it doesnt give you a virus or steals your information, it just does what it says, and the prices of efix went wayyy down.

  • lol 7:51 "I live here"

  • that senior executive stuff is probably a fake...an apple executive wouldnt be wasting his time threatening with a comment on you-tube, if it was real they would go straight the company, not bother with a free instructional video on you-tube...

  • Thank you.

  • Mine just stopped working after like 3 weeks. It doesn't even show up in the boot menu anymore. Fuck that shit! Seriously!

  • does the chip still allow updates without any problems?

  • I am going to say this again. EFI-X is NOT an option anymore.

Again, do NOT build a "Mac" with EFi-X in the equation.

Again. AVOID this product. AVOID EFi-X.

    Again. SCREW EFI-X.

Google Chameleon or Boot-132. Go buy a $15 USB stick, and go to town.

EFI-X is just open-source code with a HUGE pricetag.

I will admit that I was had too. I fell for it. I was a schmuck as well. But DO NOT buy the EFI-X. PERIOD. They are a sham!

That is all folks... End of story...

  • @beline thanks for sharing dude I was planning on including it with my hackintosh setup!

  • I agree

  • @beline how do u get chameleon to work?

  • I'm confused about what whipmaster4 is trying to say so i'm going to break this down for anyone who reads this.

Apple products are over priced yes but they are perfect for people who you don't want to provide tech support for.

PCs/Building your own PC: This is the best value overall you can pick all your own parts and future proof it as much as you want.

Build your own PC+ EFI-X = Cheap Mac that out preforms Macs of equal spec.

  • Unfortunately when you build a pc it was wires every where and doesnt look as nice as the inside of a Mac Pro - No you just suck at building PCs and i bet that PC cost about 1/4 of the price of a mac pro too

  • Mine does Mac is a proprietary piece of crap hard ware not upgradable and the least adaptable computer on the planet so enjoy getting ripped off and believe everything you see on tv people like you keep mac in business you important to them not me ---Maxxus TN Hillbillydelux

  • As for breaking the EULA...

I'm not really caring... Now, if Apple wants to send me a Cease and Desist, they can go for it. I will turn and run. But to be honest, I'm not to worried...

  • Dear Mr. Beline, I am one of the senior executives at Apple, Inc and we feel that what you are doing is a violation of our EULA laws and see this as a threat to our interests and OS. We therefore ask that you CEASE AND DESIST all activities with regards to circumventing and or installing mac os x on a non-Apple piece of hardware. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

    Edward Klugman,

    Senior Executive director, Apple, Inc.

  • Yeah...

You don't have a life do you?

PS: I enjoy your profile. You are a man of high moral and professional character. I can tell you are going to go far in life. I bow to you...

    Now, would you kindly, gtfo...

  • Wow, the "Senior Executive Director" of Apple Inc. just got told by a YouTube video uploader. Soo....Mr. "Big shot i can tell anyone i want what to do" are you gonna send me a threatening comment saying i should stop using Boot-132 on my PC that epic'ly surpasses the power of your over-priced Mac Pro. Go f*** yourself with a retractable baton.

    Kind as ever,

    l.o.t.b. 123

  • What an ass this is the man working for Hollywood and copyrighters ever where OSX should be open sorced or sold for pc you will circle the drain screaming our hardware better

a G5 is a piece of shit that you cant plug cable tv into so if your so energy efficient why not eliminate the tv ----Maxxus jr TN OH kisss well ya know

  • @Nadav34

Mr. Edward Klugman you are such a Nimrod, This is called Education, unlike Steve Jobs stole Xerox GUI and that is your CEO. Nevertheless as much as I like Apple, however people like you, can kiss where the sun don't shine. Get a life.

  • @Nadav34 Well I don't blame people for getting the disc and installing Mac OS X on their PC. I love Apple's Software but I can't buy one of your computers because they are to expensive.

  • Ok everyone. It is true, the EFI-X device IS a farce. There are numerous posts and articles on-line that open the device up, display it's "Mystical" internals, and compare vanilla XP installs to installs using this dongle and other open-source solutions.

    The shocker?

This dongle is not magical, it doesn't use all the special materials they list. In fact, the magical pieces consist primarily of hardware encryption that hides open-source kexts and other open-source code...

    Avoid...

  • just buy a mac

    you are breaking the EULA

  • still working?

  • cool i will definitely do that instead of buying a mac pro

  • Exclusive Report: EFI-X Mac Booter, A Scam?

Read Toms Hardware and OSNews reports.

  • It works. But not necessarily stable.

Allot of problem, and its expensive.

  • Holly cow. I read the whole article, and wow.....

  • Screw apple! Efix is the way man! By the way dude. I live in Singapore does Efix ships there?

By the way I have a gigabyte 965P ds3 motherboard I bought 2 years ago and is still using on pc. I wonder if getting the efix would work on this motherboard. My White macbook is getting laggy and has smaller memory to take large files when editing.

  • Some CUTOUT :

    ----

    2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.

    A. Single Use License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, unless you have purchased a Family Pack or Upgrade license for the Apple Software, you are granted a limited non-exclusive license to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-branded computer at a time. You agree not to install, use or run the Apple Software on any non-Apple-branded computer, or to enable others to do so.

  • i7 920 with evga x58 compatiable?

  • I don't get it. What you are actually doing is raping a great system and celebrate yourself here. This is nothing else like "stealing" and the cops should ring at your door... and thats for all of you. I actually never understand that no one is shutting this down.

  • All he is doing is taking something that he legally bought from Apple (the OS) and using it in a way that was not intentioned. This is not legally or in any other way considered stealing. Its called hacking, hence "Hackintosh."

  • And the "intented" - thing is the deal. IMHO you are not allowed to installed OS X on non Apple Hardware. This is why Psystar is getting into trouble. your turn.

  • True, what Psystar is doing is illegal, but that what they are being accused of is copyright infringement. This is because the they are profiting by building and selling Hackinintoshes, as long as you aren't doing that, which is what he's doing it is perfectly legal.

Just because you are breaking the EULA, doesn't mean what you are doing is a felony.

  • pshhh

  • If you built the computer the messy wires are your fault.

  • it comes with 2sided yape. you dont have to tape ur self.

  • The red thingy (fan?) inside the computer case plays tricks on my eyes! ;)

  • The whole video doesn't make any sense. Basically Efix is as the uploader claims for people who don't want the hassle of getting OSX to work, but on the other hand, people who want to do this need to build the machine that's on the hardware compatibility list, so why would they then buy this for a lot of moeny if they already were prepared to go through the hassle of building a machine to begin with?

  • Because installing the Hackintosh is just a hack.

And you can safe huge on a simple Quad Core system (16 GB RAM withouth FB-DIMM's) compared to Apple.

    I love my EFix.

  • bootcamp. even a %100 compatible system will not boot osx. this bridges the gap. no need to hack, simply plug in the dongle.

  • if you get caught you would have to go 5 years in prison

  • is apple really going to go after a single person just for installing os x on non-apple labeled hardware.

  • I read about this item months ago and obviously have kept an interest. I mainly Ubuntu as my choice for an Internet box OS, but use an old Quicksilver for fun. This looks like a great way to have MAC PRO power without MAC PRO price.

I'm wondering though how well/reliable is the boot 132?

Paying $189.00 to $240.00 for this EFiX is kinda high, but you still save $ vs buying a true Apple.

I would think buying a good used Apple G5 would be a good option as well.

  • Hey, nobody told you to do this, go ahead and pay $2,500 while others pay $1,200 hehe. And as for being faster; for that $1,300 dollar that you save you can buy some top of the line proc\essor, video card and memory that just blows the Mac away lol

And as for being caught? No home user was ever sued for running an illegal copy of Windows and hundreds of millions have such an illegal copy....nice try clown hehe

  • eah, i know that you have a low intelligence by exaggerating the use of words like "lol" and "hehe"

  • Typical juvenile response of someone with no life who watched over 27 thousand videos and who is so dumbed down that he fails to have the intellect to come up with an intelligent counter argument.

  • Sweet video, dude! I saw this a long time ago, you've almost convinced me to buy one...

  • yes the cd that comes with your macbook but if you havent bout fix i recomend trying something live ipc or XxX

  • try boot 132 CD

  • LMFAO @ 7:50 ahahaha "I live here!"

  • Great video but the EFIX website is absolutely shocking. Its so unusable that they need a down arrow to make you scroll down to where the information is. The only problem is every time you click on a page you need to scroll down again. How annoying!!$%^&*(

  • Preety steep price at £169 / €200

  • can any one help me finding a blu ray drive that will work with OSX

  • did u try googling it

  • no entiendo nada

  • Es un dispositivo que se conecta al ordenador y te permite usar Mac OS X, el sistema operativo de Apple.

Primero tienes que asegurarte del hardware que tienes, que sale en la página: Placa base, procesador y gráfica

  • okay.

  • I've been using Mac ever since, and I am definitely building a Mac Pro when snow leopard comes out. I'm going to use the Intel Quad Q9550 and than going to overclock it. I should be getting it up to 3.5ghz. NICE!!

  • building a mac pro ????

  • How much did you pay for the EFIX?

  • thanks I enjoyed your video - I want to do this on a gigabyte ex58-ud3r but the HCL states "Coming Soon" for x58 boards...

  • How does it handle EFI updates that are issued from apple as a part of its update process? For example from time to time software update will say it has an EFI firmware update, and you have to shut down and hold the power button.

  • You choose not to install the firmware update

  • LOL "I live here" Classic! Nice video btw! I might have to check this out!

  • Does any one know if Snow Leopard will be supported and will they have to right new codeing because the new OS is going to be 64bitt

  • If you can upgrade from Leo to Snow Leo without changing hardware, why wouldn't it work? I don't think it would re-flash the EFI

  • Nice one mate i needed to know that - Have u got one because im thinking of geting one but i may just get a mac only because its the real thing no mods no hacks

    Luke Jones - SPUD

  • I don't own one, it's kinda expensive, it's 155 euros, and I think x86 mod would be cheaper.

  • No mods or hacks ive used macs for 5 years but i had to get a pc for collage and want a cheap way of geting a mac

  • Does any one think it will run Snow Leopard when it comes out ?

  • Not Found

The requested document was not found on this server.

  • You pronounce it O S Ten not O S X.

  • THANK YOU. It's so irritating when people don't even know what Roman numerals are.

  • agreed

  • Comment removed

  • Does it work with hd 4870?

  • not yet

there ois a better and free way to get mac on pc without efix usb boter

4870 will be suported on snowleopard for 100% with a custom natit i believe

    insanlymac . com

  • I would challenge the "better" portion of that statement.

  • cool

  • OS 10!

  • LessthanJake14 - This does not emulate a lockout chip. EFi is a type of BIOS. The EFi-X essentially loads this type of BIOS. It just so happens that OSX requires an EFi BIOS, and no one else actually uses them. So all PC hardware you purchase to build a computer is lacking EFi, this just 'gives' an EFi BIOS to a compatible motherboard.

Rojer64 - Uh... what was the problem?

  • This is so irritating ... I quit after several minutes of watching, having learnt NOTHING about what this thing actually is ! So Mac like :)

  • does software like istat menus work? Can you view the temp of the cpu with any mac compatible software?

  • my E-Fix card works like a charm!

  • does the internal sound card work?

  • Absolutly. I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3. Plug n play baby!

  • A genuinely useful video, much appreciated.

  • Apple should take the hint and make tower computers around $1k or less.

  • Thats a good idea dude

just sold my old G4 i so miss using a mac and the efix sounds good

  • You Don't need BootCamp, The Bootloader is Far beyond what you think, it uses a BPU, which bypasses your Bios, and Loads EFi-X™. When you start the PC you will go into the Bootloader where you select your drive. So there is no need for Bootcamp.

  • how is that compatible

  • Because it emulates an apple lockout chip. Yeah, the ONLY difference between a Mac and a PC hardware-wise

  • Got mine on friday ....works Exactly like your video post.....thanks a million .....

  • Awesome!

Hope you really enjoy your new computer.

I am recently re-thinking throwing my mother at the world of Apple. I prefer it, but I find I am setting up a majority of her apps to run in Unity (Windows Virtual Machine). I might just keep her with XP, since that is her world, haven't decided yet.

Either way, I am planning my build for this spring... We'll see.

  • If you guys need help I am Moderator on forum . efi-x . com

    thank you for your order

  • That's pretty cool.

I had heard of stories of broken/breaking EFi-X devices. Can you comment on this?

  • The EFi-X™ Device are not broken, some of the EFi-X™ device had corrupted firmware, so you simply contact your vendor ship them back and will be fixed.

  • Sorry, but corrupted firmware is broken in my book, especially if it takes a guy like this weeeks to get it by mail, imagine that you really NEED that machine and that you have to wait 2 to 3 months (2x mail)...seriously!

  • Again, I have not tried this myself, but it is my understanding that the EFI-X boot loader can be used to boot any OS that supports the EFI BIOS.

For any OS that does not support an EFI BIOS, one can still interrupt the boot process and select the correct boot device.

This issue is once the user reaches the EFI-X bootloader screen, the EFI-X has already initiated the EFI BIOS. At that point you can select any bootable device connected to the computer, but if it doesn't support EFI, your SOL.

  • I do not exactly know.

I would assume so, but as there is actually another step in the start-up process (power-on, [load "PC" BIOS], load EFi-X bootloader/OSX), it 'might' interfere with the BootCamp process (I have never used BootCamp myself, this machine currently runs VMWare Fusion in the Unity flawlessly though, FWIW).

If you try it or find out, let us know.

  • Can you run multiple Hackintoshs with only one EFiX at the same time?

  • I am not sure what you are asking, but yes, you can have multiple installs of OSX on the same system.

If you are asking if you can boot multiple machines at the same time off the same dongle, I do not beleive so. It is my understanding the dongle must remain connected while the system is running, and I do not want to chance it.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hey. Thanx!

  • this thing only is for lazy people ... everyone can install a Hackintosh on a Gigabyte Board, anyone can do on nearly any Hardware ! If u re lazy pay ... if u re cool go into HCL of OSX or join a hackmac forum and have fun !!!

  • You are right, but also wrong.

It is for lazy people, I suppose. Or rather, people who value their time, and figure that ease of use, their sanity, and simplicity are worth $170. I said in the video, this is my mothers computer, simplicity is of the utmost importance, and it was worth the $170.

Now, by all means, keep on keeping on with your Hackintosh. Lord knows it just makes you the kewlest of th kooool, G.

  • is it legal?

  • 100% legal.

The dongle only "emulates" (wrong word) the EFI BIOS. It has nothing to do with Apple or OSX. It just so happens that it makes it possible to run OSX.

  • Why are there so many people like you who have no clue? It is NOT legal, because Apple does NOT allow you to install OSX, even if it's a legal retail copy, on anything but an original Mac! Get your facts straight!

  • Actually the EULA states that it must be installed on one "Apple-labelled" computer. It doesn't define what Apple-Labelled means. It could be perfectly acceptable to stick one of the Apple stickers that you get with each retail copy on the case. That could be "Apple-Labelled". It's not as clear-cut as you would like us to think.

  • Hmm just read about this, but how much is the dongle ? Fasinating and it seems totally legal also ?

  • The EFI-X ran me about $170 USD.

  • They are actually Switzerland Distributer. I ordered mine few days ago and they sent me a tracking number yesterday.

What's your specs? I can't wait to get mine all set up! Thanks Bro.
