All companies let out bad copies. Sigma stands by their waranty and replaces when this happens...Canon does too...both have good service. Sigma warranty is longer though. You decide.

@nya13 I've owned both, I had the 50 1.4G Nikon on a D90 body, and now the Sigma with a 5DII. Overall I like the Sigma's results a little better, but they are both nice lenses.
@jlcool007 In my case i had purchased the lens through amazon. I just did a replacement through them and the new one is still working perfectly. Good luck with a replacement, a spot on copy of this lens is really good!
a bit of wd40 will fix that.

@defboob my NEW one does this when going from inf to close range. did you go through sigma or through your lps (local photography shop)

I use an exact same kind of lens. Something is DEFINITELY wrong with that focus ring.
