Hey, Kevin. I think what you do by speaking to people about depression and your experience is great. Just a footnote, though. My name is KEVIN HINES as well. Do you realize how many people mistake me for you?! Can you guess how many times I've been asked if I'm OK? MORE THAN YOU KNOW...
Too bad I don't live in San Fransico because I would be dead already but I kinda wish I visited if only to maybe meet you. I bet it would really hurt hitting the water so fast.
that is wonderful, I am so thankful for the work that you do. Maybe some day we can work together in some fashion, if you'd like my speaking information please let me know. I have now traveled around the country and parts of Canada for 10 years and reached over 250,000 people. I hope we can stay in touch.
I am currently working with someone who uses the ASIST model as well thats why I ask
Kevin, I work for a childrens charity, but in Scotland the suicide prevention programme that we use is the Canadian model Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training - the main message being that it is everyone's responsibility in the community to reach out and help prevent suicide. The course gives people the confidence to do this. Jill
Kevin I read about your story in a book called Survivors Club and I tell it when I deliver suicide prevention programmes (ASIST). I believe that we all need to try and reach out to others to help prevent suicide and these course give people confidence to do that. Wishing you well, keep strong. Jill
It's brilliant what you do Kevin, and everyone else on the board. A friend of mine unfortunately didn't survive the jump, like many others.
Being in the UK I had no idea about this until I heard my friend had died 2 years ago, now more and more people in this country are learning about the devastation of suicide and that all bridges should have a barrier of some sort!
Kevin you just saved my life! I saw parts of the bridge on hbo and I decided to research the suicides! I watched it and felt a mixture of sadness and envy! I'm not living in America but if I was I think I'd be a number! Just another jumper! I want to thank you so much after hearing your story my heart hurts a little less and for that I thank you all the way from Trinidad! It just hurts so much sometimes I just wish it could go and stay gone! Take Care Kevin!
@LoveJahAlways Trinidad wow, Ive just become an international speaker maybe I can come their some day. I am glad you feel i helped you live, I hope you stay alive and well always.
I tried to email kevin as I also have bi polar and was in a proper state just recently. Also wanted to tell him how I admired how he has turned his life around but it wouldn't deliver cos Im a Londoner and it wouldn't deliver to america. thats bollocks!!!
Kevin, I was very touched by your story on the documentary I saw. I don't suffer from Bi-polar disorder, but I have a problem with anxiety disorder. Your story has in many ways given me hope and i just want to thank you.

God shmod, no god would create anyone with mental illness to begin with and no guy with mental illness is fit to refute scientific evidence that god is about as probable as the tooth fairy.
Kev whats crackin man, I hope all is good with you. You inspire me. You are an awesome person, the earth could use a few more like you. It is so good that you are taking advantage of the second chance the lord has given you. Keep it up.
I attempted suicide in 1979, I was 21 years old then. I put a 12 gauge shotgun to my chest and pulled the trigger. Why I survived is a long story but I will never forget the first thing I thought when I heard that gun go off. "No, I don't want to die!"
Those aren't suicides they are homicides. Only the terrorists who enact them count as a suicide stat. And generally war ridden/miserable areas have paradoxically lower suicide rates.
Hello This is John Kevin Hines, I just wanted to thank you all for your wonderfully kind words. Your words keep me working hard within the cause of Good Mental Health and Preventing suicide. Today I have reached over 186,000 people, doctors, students, church groups, and foundations alike. to try and help those who have lost hope find it once again.
The things that you are doing Kevin, are a true proof that you and every man or woman can do a big diference. You are blessed by God and I am happy that you've reconized it! Someone said that if one thinks that he cannot alone make a difference, he was newer in a room with a single mosquito. God Bless! Greetings from Croatia
Keep up the great work Kevin. Its crazy how there was something that helped you up when you jumped off the bridge. Your too good of a guy and im glad you survived. Nobody should committ suicide.
that is so geat you get to help other people out now. i have bipolar disorder too so i know how it can be be good for you! i am so happy to see you are ok ! i saw the movie! god bless! {hugg}}}

i have been stunned at 2 things. First that the bridge is the number one suicide destination in the world.
I wonder why
Second the repulsively disgusting comments on other videos of suicide regarding the bridge
Nice to see there's messages of support
i wish you well

I seriously doubt the GGB is the place where the highest rate of suicicdes occur.
Perhaps you've heard of Israel, Palestine, the Disputed Territories, suicide bombings. I figure that's where it really happens.
