  • How i suppose to find @wahthefkc's comment.....

  • There isn't a price on Greenfield's homepage. It just says: GET A NEW JOB!

  • @DaWeiland Well, they're custom made guitars...

  • One of my favorites :) One day I will play this song.

  • I just love this song... and that new guitar is sexy. hmm... is it just the camera, or does he really look thinner?

  • OMG THAT WAS SO AMAZING! I really love Andy McKee's songs! All of his songs just move me and take me to dream land.

  • the tuning is standard tuning, right? :)

  • @ChrisBrandsborg for a baritone guitar its like near standard with a b on low string or something like that but regular guitars its in standard

  • Me: Mom, I go and punch some guy in his ugly face!

    Mom: Alone?

Me: No, with 114 other guys!

  • @Raven2702 Oh wow, thats so original

  • why does it sound different and hollower than the other video? is he using an amp in the other video??

  • @datlibra17 different guitar

  • is this andy's song or don ross cover?

  • @Thisacchasnewsongs i hope you are kidding this is an original and one of his best. he cuts it short in this vid though.

  • did not know he's only 31

  • this guitar doesnt sound as good :S

  • @djos3 It's the camera. This is recorded on a handheld video cam. His other videos are professional recording equipment. Trust me, this guitar is absolutely amazing. If you ever get to be within earshot of him playing this thing, your life will be fulfilled.

  • @djos3 maybe its not mic'd as the other vids. I think its just a camera mic thats used here whilst the others he probably used a good quality condensor mic

  • Andy's so cool to the eyes.

  • I wish i had one greenfield guitar ... :(

  • Bring back the beard! Come on man! lol

  • Only 1 dislike. Must of seen "dis i like"

  • I can't believe how relaxed this has just made me, almost like it's saying "Don't worry, everything will be fine" :)

  • 2 min 39, mistake... lol

He has forgoten a part of his song, and we can see his face changing at this moment :p

  • @bichoune16071979

    I think it's correct...

  • @Tuloisboss

I have the original and he makes a mistake ^^

See his face at 2 min 39 ;)

  • @bichoune16071979 Nah mate, that`s a 'variation' ;P

  • Comment removed

  • @antevans1 lol everybody knows he never makes mistake!! :p

Just a little one here but he is amazing ;)

  • @Ratte1007 I think WarriorOfTheHeavens is Andys teacher xD

  • @5BlackJohn5 Ha ha ha, I am a guitar teacher (self-taught) I have only played for 2 years though, but I can play some of Andy's songs. Really I am too young to be Andy's teacher.. he was and still is an inspiration to me, to continue to excel at the guitar and never give up. I try and learn all the techniques I can, no matter how out of my league it is. Maybe it is the New Greenfield Guitar, that makes me feel that the song sounds a bit strange. You were right about me being a teacher though!LOL

  • It look's like Andy is having difficulty's with that guitar, a few mistakes here and there. I think he isn't yet used to that guitar in the video, at the time anyway.

  • @WarriorOfTheHeavens There is no mistake... Not anyone...

  • haha, same. i was surprized when i saw the starting of the vid....

  • why isn't he on tv yet?!

  • @JetStorm17277 because all tv cares about is lady gaga's mangina and ke$ha's auto tuned songs to attract teenagers

  • @WTFitsJimmy Tv sucks nowadays...

  • @JetStorm17277 exactly my point haha

  • @JetStorm17277 he doesnt need to be on tv...he plays sold out shows all over the world.

  • its cool to watch his upper forearm near the elbo - all the muscles that go to his fingers are poppin up and down, working hard to make music - lol does that sound creepy?

  • @kyuteh Haha in the wrong context maybe, but as a guitar player I like to watch guitar players hands and arms move while they play. It's really no different for us watching guitar players do things than it is for say a basketball player or gymnast to admire the movement of another in his/her sport. It helps us to learn what good technique can look like, or enlighten us to new ways of handling the instrument.

  • :) man this is great... i admire andy mckee for his great guitar skills.... annnnd his weight is not super important im sure he isnt super concerned. Because he is a nice size.... :)

  • There's something between technical skill and this emotion or "soul" that everyone keeps yammering on about. Andy has it, it's his own flavor, it's his own song. He's a living legend, a commodity that we all need to make sure keeps making music for as long as possible.

  • God I love this song so much, i could hear it over and over...He wore his weight well i thought :P

  • Agreed, for the money, you are def better off looking at custom guitars...Larrivee is an incredible Canadian maker...I highly recommend a Larrivee over a martin, gibson or taylor any day...

  • nice man love your songs ^^

  • I think it's all about what "Feels" right, my favorite guitar is my £20 strat copy I just fitted a better bridge & had it set up by my man at my local store & it plays beautifully-better imho than a genuine £900+stratocaster....My view is I don't give a rat's ass what it cost, if it plays nice & sounds good what's the problem?

  • Well a lot of people think differently but I'm on your side. I see people walk into the guitar shop and snag the highest price thinking it has the best sound, hell my guitar was only 300USD and it plays better than most 1,000USD guitars. No joke.

  • I can well believe it matey, another thing "most" amatuer guitar players don't do is have their guitar professionaly set-up & a big mistake I've been making for years & now I know the difference it can make that's the first thing I do now with any new addition to my collection....

  • @CaptainScarlet1961 well said, in fact I have been playing for almost 30 years and never had my guitar tweaked until last week ....and wow....the playing is easier the sound is better ....it feels like a different guitar. !!!!......

  • Same here, I snagged a used Yamaha Compass for $200 about 4 years ago and it plays and sounds better than a lot of Taylor guitars I've played on. It may not look as pretty but who cares IMO, I bought it for the sound!

  • A lot of big name brands like to overprice their instruments just because they know people will pay ridiculous amounts of money for them regardless of whether or not they're worth that money. Hence why I'll never buy a Martin, Gibson or Taylor. However, I don't think anything can beat a completely hand-made instrument. These instruments are worth the money to the serious musician.

I don't know if I'll ever hear a better factory made guitar than some of the hand-made guitars Andy's played.

  • I look at it this way: the guitar is merely a tool. This whole conception that there is this "perfect" guitar is a delusion that is so horribly common amongst people that are better known as "gear-whores". These are the people that fantasize about having the most expensive instruments and accessories because they're actually convinced that it will allow them to become a better player, or whatever they think now.

I own a Greenfield Fanned-G4. I didn't even play it before I ordered it online.

  • @MrSquitwet

...I own a Greenfield Fanned-G4. I didn't even play it before I ordered it online.

I didn't buy it because it had the perfect "feel" or "aura" or "energy" or "it spoke to me" or any weird shit like that; I bought it because it had the features that I needed in a tool:

1.) It needed to have a fanned fret system for altered tunings. I couldn't find another guitar company that offered this feature.

2.) It needed to have a 17" lower bout.

3.) It needed side-bevels for comfort.

  • @MrSquitwet

So, I purchased the guitar because I had a lack of a choice. If a crappy Takamine made in China had those features, then by all mean I would save myself the money and go and buy the cheaper alternative. But, unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

What do I think about my Greenfield G4? It's fine. I don't love it (I don't love inanimate objects). I don't worship it. I don't tuck it in at night and feed it cookies and milk.

I play the guitar. It's a tool. Nothing more.

  • @MrSquitwet Where can I purchase your music or have a listen to it? Thank you!

  • there are some instruments that when you play, you can just tell that it will make you play better. honestly would you rather play a wal mart guitar or a taylor?

  • @MrSquitwet To you and neomuttley please shut your yap we don't want you to argue here you're taking all the spaces here. Do it somewhere else like between channels.

  • I learned this in 2 weeks, but i'm still not satisfied with the result. There's a lot of practice needed to get the right feeling, it's not just playing the same notes.

  • I got to meet him last Summer. He's as nice & down to earth as he seems on Youtube. He had his $40K worth of Greenfields w/him. You can play 10 examples of the same madel guitar, & only feel right w/one. I hoep he is really happy w/both of his $20k Greenfields. I didn't bother to ask him that rhetorical question.

  • @neomuttley

What does the price of his guitars have to do with anything? Would it make him a better musician if he used more expensive guitars?

  • You completely missed the point. Buying an expensive, custom made guitar means rolling the dice. Just as I'd said. As for Andy's talent. He's one of the best acoustic players in the world right now. I'd say $20K a pop is more than expensive enough...

  • @neomuttley

...and, what do you mean by "rolling the dice"? Are you suggesting that buying an expensive hand-made guitar with a good reputation is essentially taking a chance that the guitar may or may not sound good? I don't know any custom guitars that sound bad. Do you?

Sorry dude, just not seeing where you're going with this...

  • Ten identical guitars on the wall. Try all ten, & MAYBE one has that perfect feel/tone to it. Up the ante to a high priced custom. Now, it's one or nothing. It can be perfectly made, but not have THAT perfect feel to it. That's as clear as I can make my point. Done.

  • @neomuttley

Once again: WHY DOES THE PRICE MATTER?

Why do you keep putting the price of the guitar into your posts? Would it make a difference if the guitar was cheap?

Honestly, why do you think there aren't direct prices on the Greenfield guitars on the website? Because the price is totally irrelevant.

You seem like the guy that looks for the most expensive guitar and goes "That guitar is the best guitar in the world because it's expensive; this guitar will make me a good player."

  • That's not what I've said @all. You're either being obtuse, or are seriously dense & clueless. Shut the fuq up, & try your "Dumb Act" somewhere else. Drop Dead.

  • @neomuttley

This whole "serious dense & clueless" is coming from the same guy that insinuated that having an expensive guitar makes you a better player.

    /rolls eyes

Keep in mind that Andy hasn't always played on a Greenfield. He played awesome, if not better, when he was using much cheaper acoustic guitars before he was endorsed.

  • @neomuttley

Oh and that is horribly shameful that a 44 year old man, according to your profile, lacks the elementary reading comprehension skills to understand my point: the guitar is entirely irrelevant in regards to playing ability; you can use a cheap guitar and sound just as talented as if you were using a $20,000 Greenfield.

I like it when people get frustrated that they can't wrap their heads around simple logic, so instead of trying to understand that person's point-of-view, they cry.

  • You're an asswipe. I said I'm done w/you. You are the one failing to see MY POV. Drop Dead, POS.

  • @neomuttley

I didn't know middle-aged men acted like that.

  • @ MrSquitwet

    WELCOME TO THE INTERNET!!!

  • you will never get emotion in to the piece when you simply bang it out in a couple of weeks. it needs time to jell with ur sole

  • Excellent clip, cheers for uploading.

That guitar has the most amazing harmonics. 5/5 for the music and guitar haha

  • whoa he looks good!

  • Andys defo lost the weight, hes in the best shape of his life, I'm happy for him hes came a long way since they late 06 videos.

  • Chef d'oeuvre. Chapeau mec

  • wow andy's lost weight haha

  • i noticed too! haha

  • @wahthefck mostly beard weight

  • @wahthefck I miss the epic beard of doom though... :(

  • ahah bunch of youtubenerds, upload some of the flawless stuff you have learned in 2 weeks. i learned some stuff sungha jung covered and some chet atkins-stuff and this is even harder. to get this piece down properly as a non-proffessional you need some frustration-proof endurance ; )

  • hahaha. go for it.

i've been learning other songs of his that are technically easier than this i reckon. managed to learn for my father and nakagawa san by ear. now this. going to take a whiiiiile haha.

    good luck also

  • Honest coment here... but i am going to devote my life to learning this song note for note. How long u think it will take me?

  • 2 months

  • 60 years

  • Depends..how long have you been playing? I devoted my life to it and finally I can play it now. It took me a couple of months.

  • That depends on two things: 1) how good of a guitarist you are, and 2) whether you are doing by ear, by video or by sheet music. If you are an average guitarist, I would give it a week if using notation, 2 weeks if using video, and about a month or so if going by ear. I say you use all 3 techniques (they are obviously available) and knock it out in two afternoons or about 8 hours. This is for a relatively flawless performance of the piece.

  • BTW, that little triplet/eighth note deal on A will definitely throw your rhythm off a bit. But, that is one of the hardest parts.

  • i bet you couldnt do it in two weeks, sucker.

  • wow that guitar is so loud lol

  • he lost alot of weight

  • why some idiot did vote OnlyOmar -negative- ?? omg tards, cant understand a fact,Omar is right,he did:) over weight kills person,he did a right thing:P geting removed 25kg's from your belly' is not a bad thing:) Andy rockz

  • just for tuning lower without vibrating makes 2000 dollars differnce with the other normal classic guitars ?

  • Its usually not 2000 dollars more for the option of a baritone. Please note that baritones are unlike regular guitars in various ways. Its a perfect fourth lower as well. Thats HUGE. Tuning that low on a regular 25.5" guitar sounds like shit. :P

  • I would assume that more tension to remove the vibrations would require more/denser wood along with a denser truss rod to hold it together, but I'm not so big on guitar construction.

Adding more metal and more spruce would definitely increase the price.

  • yup....guess im not buying a baritone hehe

  • what's the difference of this guitar ?

  • it can be tuned lower than a standard guitar, without bad vibrating

  • the clarity and resonance of that guitar is amazing ... worth every penny ... time to start saving.

Although I wouldn't trust anyone to ship it to the uk incase anything happened to it.

  • i agree it sounds like its plugged in u know u have a good guitar if it sounds like that.. haha..

  • what the place I buy this acoustic guitar?

  • dream on man

  • That guitar will run you over $13,000. So good luck. Try reading the description.

  • This a standard set, or with Baritone?

Either ways, I like the sound like this. Less reverb than on the official song :3

  • the guitar is unglugged, read the "more info"

  • Excellent Sir

  • that new ending sounds great!! i love the fade-out too, but this new one just gives a whole different feel to it...

  • that is a beautiful acoustic

  • awesome andy!

question: are the lower bass strings supposed to sound "twangy" on those guitars?

  • Thats because he's muting the bass strings with the palm of his right hand while plucking them with his thumb. xD

  • yup!

thats a traditional technique for fingerstylists ^_^

    i do it too

  • i've known this song for quite a while but i just gasped all of a sudden while listening 0_o

    i am impressed....again

  • What a masterpiece.

  • I have no idea how he manages to do the string tap with his left hand, i try and it sounds rubbish!

  • Keep at it! Eventually, it'll "click" and you will nail it!!

  • try try again...

    all the best!

  • The most beautiful song in the world!!!

I like the sound of this guitar.

    Cheers from France.

    Guillaume. :)

  • Enfin !!

Ce mec va enfin venir faire des concerts en France !!!

  • Génial, je l'attend avec impatience.

    A+++
