Totie Fields was such a talented lady. During her show she told jokes but she also sang and had a beautiful emotional voice that was from the heart. Totie was a true orginal we miss you sweetheart! There's a dvd avaliable of one of her last shows it was an HBO special.

Ahh Totie; love & miss ya! Back in the days of actual variety shows, she could usually be seen on on the other, & the roasts - how fun were those ?! She was the precursor to the likes of Rosanne & she always did it so well! As Bob-on-the-road-for-Texaco-Hop­e would say, Totie, thanks for the memories.....

What year was this? I read that Totie's leg was amputated in 1977, and was plagued with health problems the last two years of her life. She died in 1978, at 48. She seemed pretty healthy at this event! BTW...Did she say "fag"? No one laughed like when Kathy Griffin or Lisa Lamponeli says it!

totie once told a joke i will never forget:

she said part of her daily regiment to keep her face young and to rid herself of jowels and a turkey neck. it was to take the back of her hand and slap it under her chin over and over again. she said it did nothing for her chin or neck, but it did wonders for her hand.
