Insurance companies are only required to payout 70% in claims. They keep 30% to pay CEO, board of director and post BIG PROFIT. It only cost 4% for Medicare to operate because this is a NOT FOR PROFIT. That means 96% is going directly toward health care. So the way to get an immediate 26% reduction in health care cost is to get rid of the insurances co.

I'm completely about constitutional, campaign and electoral reform as well has insurance reform. Unfortunately, no one is talking about insurance reform. Preventative care, eye and tooth care would also add to overall nat'l well-being. We need a holistic response to our health care needs and we need corps and politicians to behave responsibly.

Write your senators and tell them to vote against this bill. Email them too, but letters have more impact. Calling them helps too. The pressure needs to be put on now, they need to understand that the majority is against this legislation.
Show me one government program that is being or has been run efficiently(excepting the IRS of course which they manage pretty well, oddly enough) and i will support government intervention or participation in our healthcare system. the U.S. Constitution was actually just a piece of paper. Personal freedoms and the right for individuals to choose was first dimmed when corporations gained the status of "personhood". Corporate protectionism is why we are facing the complicated fiasco of unraveling the current healthcare cost crisis.
I WISH that the U.S. Constitution stood for more - but who was it that said it was just a god-da**ed piece of paper? Wasn't that the 43rd President, GWB?
The Articles of Confederation was the original constitution. While flawed, it did not do what our revered Constitution did, which was to mirror the aristocratic government of the British Kingdom.
It is surprising, isn't it. God knows GWB was adept and finding the public to pay for his special interests. I guess I'm still awaiting the nails to come out of that constitutional coffin.
Boehner is one of the very few that I like in Congress, and Im not even a Republican. It is now obvious to ANYONE with a thinking brain that Congress DOES NOT listen nor care about what the People think. 70+% did NOT want the Public Option.....Yet there is 220 members of the House who just didn't care. Well.... Still America sits quiet, and takes the usual rear pounding.
It *will* die in the Senate, hopefully. The process is just starting. 2010 will see a GOP victory that will dwarf 1994 - with a lot more committed conservatives. And then, with proper checks and balances, we shall get to the truth of Obama and his goons.

You are the reason the rest of us have to pay such high taxes. Last year, the State of Oregon had a budget shortfall of $800+ million. It so happens that the state's revenue service said we had an equal amount due in unpaid taxes.
How does it feel to rob the rest of us tax payers.
We have to pay high taxes because it is the law. It has nothing to do with my wanting to pay. There is no free lunch. National defense in enforcement of contracts have a price. I paid part of that when I served from 1969 to 1975.
If you expect something for nothing, you should be a Democrat. If Democrats paid their taxes, we would not have a national deficit.

Seems like free lunch is being served in plenty of the smaller states where senators can get a bridge built to nowhere, while a state like California is treated as a colony, providing more to the Fed than is ever returned, producing more than its sustainable capacity of food for the rest of the U.S. It's always a bit more complex than left and right, city and country. But we do agree that special interests are killing the country. We just might not agree on what those special interests are :/

Insurance companies are only required to payout 70% in claims. They keep 30% to pay CEO, board of director and post BIG PROFIT. It only cost 4% for Medicare to operate because this is a NOT FOR PROFIT. That means 96% is going directly toward health care. So the way to get an immediate 26% reduction in health care cost is to get rid of the insurances co.

I would hope that this one side health care bill is SCRAPED because it is CRAP.
It won't be reform until we can by our health care across state lines, thus competition will reduce costs.

As far as his exchange with Rangel is concerned, the point Boehner was making here is if it takes the Stupak amendment passing to get the underlying bill to pass, then the Democrats are all for it; only to use that as a tool to get what they want and then toss that in the hopper at some 3:09 a.m. as well. Why even bother holding a vote at all if something can be scrapped at will?

I'm completely about constitutional, campaign and electoral reform as well has insurance reform. Unfortunately, no one is talking about insurance reform. Preventative care, eye and tooth care would also add to overall nat'l well-being. We need a holistic response to our health care needs and we need corps and politicians to behave responsibly.
Frankly, I'm in favor of promoting free medical college to all qualified candidates who intend to become doctors, nurses and dentists. Crazy, I know.

the money will come from medicare at the expense of the seniors who earned their benefits. The government can't do it all, leave the indigent in the care of private organizations, salvation army, catholic charities, and jewish relief organizations. These charities can be helped by the government in the form of chits, at a much lower cost, and less of a bureaucracy.

As an entrepreneur myself, I have to spend a fourth of my income on health care - a fourth! And there isn't even anything wrong with us. Healthcare int eh US costs 50% more than in any other Western country. Fiscally conservative? NOT.

Seems like free lunch is being served in plenty of the smaller states where senators can get a bridge built to nowhere, while a state like California is treated as a colony, providing more to the Fed than is ever returned, producing more than its sustainable capacity of food for the rest of the U.S. It's always a bit more complex than left and right, city and country. But we do agree that special interests are killing the country. We just might not agree on what those special interests are :/
