I have to admit that this CD grew on me. At first listen, I thought it was a solid performance, but after listening to it a few times, I adore it. I'm a pretty hardcore Mk 2 fan, but I do love the bluesy sound of this work.

Agreed. Great album. I lent this to the guitarist in the band I used to be in. He frowned when he took it into his hand. Three days later, he called me and wanted to cover "Love conquers all". Ritchie is a fave of mine, and always will be.

This song is a favorite of mine. I get puzzled with people who shoot down this album because it doesn't sound like original DP. This album has its own power and style, mostly because Joe Lynn Turner is a very clear singer.

Shame on those who pigeonhole it just because they liked the first albums better.

Of all the cd's I ever owned...I got my money's worth the most on this one--EVERY song was GREAT! Wonder why these songs are never heard on radio???? Fortuneteller is my fav on this cd--wish the others were on YT. Thank you for putting this up!

i have all the dp albums but i really like this one. joe is a great artist , he wasnt right for purple though. shame gillans voice has gone now and dp is not right without blackmore

oh, YEAH. Deep Purple is superb! I think each singer did a good job in the band. Though DC is by far my favourite one I must say I love IG 's voice and the songs that JLT sings are amazing. ( I don´t include Rod Evans because I have only listened to 1 song ny him- I can't pass any judgement on him) DEEP PURPLE= GREATNESS

One of the best Deep Purple albums. I don't agree that it was 'abysmal', it contains some of the best Deep Purple songs. Very melodic, catchy and well prooduced. Joe Lynn turner does a great job.

Rainbow were a brilliant band..no doubt about it, but this album was just retreading Rainbow ground..and badly....doesn't sound anything like Deep Purple.

Its not that bad an album. I agree that House of Blue light and Perfect Strangers are better, but there are some gems off this album. Also, Rainbow is a good band.

I tell you only one thing: this is the ritchie blackmore's favourite album in deep purple.........

This was not only the worst DP album, it was also the poorest in terms of sales..in the DP book..Smoke On The Water..Jon Lord tells how Turner messed up some fine songs and turned them into cabaret.

Blackmore defends the album because he suggested Turner as vocalist after they fired Gillan.

I agree Turner is a fine singer, loved his stuff with Rainbow..but him and DP were a bad mix, this album proves that..they didn't make another album with him..and that tells its own story.
