I'd absolutely believe that. You cannot do what he does without first possessing an unusually high IQ. Such an IQ can provide a significant barrier to social relationships in high school, where most everyone is a moron. Consider for a minute that while everyone in your high school was watching sports, picking boogers and getting drunk, he was composing this. Sometimes, people isolate themselves for very good reasons.
I ordered both of his CDs two years ago. Still nothing, even though I wrote to the management company asking when I was going to receive it, six months after I placed the order and they said in the next two weeks.
Anyone have an ideas on this? Or anyone have more success? His website no longer works....

this young man seems much more a dynamic performer and guitarist than either gareth pearson or joe robinson. so far, i enjoy him infinitely more and this is only the first vid i've watched of kieran. although i don't disregard joe's pure talent, i find gareth boring, to a degree. this guy fucking JAMS, i love it!

Guitarists can be analysed and compared till the cows come home but the main differences are this; GP and JR became world class composers for the guitar through practise and technique -- Kieran Murphy was born one.
but kieran murphy blows gareth pearson out the water with shear musical ability. yet he is still on top at the moment.
so your theory doesnt really hold true, kieran just had rubbish managers with a joke company and so his media coverage suffered greatly.
besides, rumour says that he wanted to go to college, which may also cause the sudden dissapearance but he has since graduated and has a record label with sony.

@tommie997 In all fairness i'd say in terms of composition kieran does blow gareth out of the water, but not in terms of technical playing or the overall command of the instrument, if you look at th "per se" and "always, francesca" there is not one cover or arrangement, as opposed to gareths new cd which is about 50% arrangements of pop songs
@pmckee90 Your exaggerating a bit Gareth only has 2 pop songs he covers (which he covers very well and has received praise for covering those songs which is why its on the album) so technically about 15% of the album is covers! and listen to some of his originals such as 'The Beauty of Discipline' and 'Adrenaline Rush' and hopefully you'll understand more that Kieran does not in my opinion anyway blow Gareth out of the water when referring to songwriting too.

Only 2 are popcovers and a tracklike blue smoke is never ever played the same twice its one of those 'acoustic standards' so u must take that into account and yes Gareth does cover those song but his covers are excellent and its not as if he copied a cover also songwriting skills are not about HOW many songs u write(just becos Kierans written more)but also hw good they sound nd Gareth originals sound pretty good! Maybe inyour view Kieran is a better writer but he doesnt blow him out of the water
@tommie997 only two are pop covers? there's clearly more than two ive just listed.. also go and see gareth live, about 70% of his set are a mixture of spiced up standards (travis/jerry reed melodys) and covers of popular music. chuck in about 3 decent tunes he's written and thats what you get. no disrespect to gareth but comparing there writing ability is comparing rembrandt to banksy.. just ask sony..not even tommy emmanuel would be considered by such a label, only kieran has that profound 'it'

I never said he would be accepted by Sony. Where did i say that? Your missing the point however, its that kieran doesnt blow gareth or even tommy out of the water and playing fingerstyle doesnt necessarily make you poor, Look at Tommy he performs to thousands of people night after night. Joe Robinson is playing at Bonaroo music festival, thats about 100,000 people, look and Mckee hes doing extremely well, its just about talent and how youre going to promote yourself.

Can we just enjoy the beauty of the music he (or anybody else) is making rather than pointing out a guitarist against another one? Joe is absolutely a master and a very good friend of mine (in fact, there's a song for him on my page) and Gareth is fantastic as well. Now, I say that Kieran is great too. Everybody has different opinions but let's enjoy the beauty of Kieran's music now. And... let's remember that Tommy brought out these guitarists for a reason. Pretty obvious why! :)
Agree with what you say, Birdman, but there is a big effort to try and re-invent Kieran........again, Hhe does not need a website when he can use Tommy's). What name he will have, who knows. BTW, he was his own manager from what I have been told, so its his own ego that trumped him. Joe and so it seems Gareth are more down to earth people IMHO with no egos. Kieran is probably upset that Joe is Tommy's new boy.
