I saw this live in Madison in 1967 with my future wife and another couple who have been our best life long "old friends". It was Paul and Art and Paul's guitar on stage. Thousands there. Never forgot this one.
i love this song so much! the guitarplay and the voice sound so great together. i learnd this song to play and sing and it feels so good to perform it! a masterpiece (:
I´m crying... This song is my "mind soundtrack" and leave me back at the end of 2000. My dear uncle has died and I was far away from him. He still lives in my soul. Thank you for post. Thank you.
I saw them in LA for the reunion tour like 4 years ago. Went with my mom, $600 total for 2 crappy seats.....it was worth every single penny and I'd love to do it again.
imagesunlimiteduk..noticed you didn't sing the song..only picked it..so please try not to get too frustrated! Art had a tone quality that really captured colours...and feelings. He still has that quality even as an older man..that is class! Nice harmonics for the drops of rain!
This is the seventh day that I have been listening to this video. I am still so very much hooked to it. It's just soooo darned good!Unbeatable! Perfection!
Paul Simon, it is within the framework of Simon & Garfunkel miracle, vocal permanent, that he has reached these summits. This must be hard, sometimes, to have affected the legend and to have chosen to be more then « that » an excellent songwriter...
I saw them in Oslo,Norway in the summer of 2004. A moment i had been waiting for (but never thought would happen),since the first time i watched their Central Park Concert on TV, back in the early 1980ies.
He wrote some amazing things that touch your soul none more so than this song. Art's voice is as smooth as silk and i had the pleasure of hearing this as i listened in awe last year in London.
I saw Art sing this at the MSN arena, Manchester a few years ago on the Old Friends tour... I've never heard a more perfect vocal... the whole audience was spellbound. It really was one of those moments when time stood still.
heartbreakingly beautiful

This isn't just one of Paul Simon's best songs; it's--especially lyrically--one of the finest songs ever written.

I hear the drizzle of the rain like a memory it falls, soft and warm continuing, tapping on my roof and walls.
And from the shelter of my mind through the window of my eyes, I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets to England where my heart lies.
My mind's distracted and diffused, my thoughts are many miles away. They lie with you when you're asleep and kiss you when you start the day.
And a song I was writing is left undone. I don't know why I spend my time writing songs

I can't believe with words that tear and strain to rhyme.
And so you see I have come to doubt all that I once held as true. I stand alone without beliefs; the only truth I know is you.
And as I watch the drops of rain weave their weary paths and die, I know that I am like the rain; there but for the grace of you go I.
Such beautiful lyrics, like the thoughts of angels.

*speechless*
This song needs no words.
It needs a world behind closed eyes, where soft humms sway on silent notes!
(yes yes, I can be poetic)

Art really sang it with so much feelings that it came out even more beautiful than ever.
