And about CPU's: There is indeed a major difference between them per clocktick. ARM 9: Like 1.1 DMIPS per MHz. ARM 11: Like 1.2 DMIPS per MHz. the Cortex A8 however, a whopping 2 DMIPS per MHz. In comparison: PowerPC 750 (GameCube, Wii and Macintosh G3) 2.25 DMIPS per second. I know, not an ideal comparison, but sufficient.

Granted, without lot's of raw performance it is useless, however, because it is newer and has a more efficient architecture, it performs way better per watt. The SGX 543, however may deliver plenty of performance, although at the price of too much power consumption for handhelds, because it supports Multi GPU Setups. Named setups range from 1 GPU, 200 MHz and 33 M Triangles per second up to 8 GPU's, 400 MHz and 533M Triangles per second. That last setup should equal the XBox 360 GPU.
And the PSP is very powerful for sure, but I have never seen confirmed benchmarks that it really pushes 33M Triangles per second. The IPhone 3GS and probably also the IPod Touch 3G is however confirmed to reach around 7M Triangles per second in GLBenchmark. Lower than the theoretical 28M Triangles per second the SGX 535 is marketed with, but solid information. And compared with the PSP GPU, the PowerVR SGX GPU's have graphics features on par with PC.
As far as I know, the IPhone 3GS/IPod Touch 3G is the only application of the SGX 535, which is, by phone standards, an extremely powerful GPU. On standard clocks double as powerful (28MPoly's per second) as the SGX 530 (14MPoly's per second), not to mention, the MBX Lite (1Mpoly per second) in the IPhone 3G. Yes and why copy my name... You are partly right. The default clock is 333mhz, Sony has downclocked it to about 215mhz. On a PSP 1000 hacked, you can make use of the full 333mhz whilst on my 3000, you can't as it's not hack so it's stuck at 215mhz. The hacked 1000 with 333mhz clock is MUCH smoother than the 3000 or any other PSP for that matter at 215mhz. Some games clock it a little higher as well though not to it's max of 333mhz.
But also something called a "Media Engine" Which is also @ 333mhz.
Then the graphic card is @ like 111mhz which blows Iphones away, lol.
The media engine is awesome. Its able to render stuff. Real fast. With Amazing visuals (Final fantasy crisis core, assassins creed bloodlines, God of War, exc)

It's like night and day. Apple's marketing team are geniuses. They put you at a rock and a hard place. Tease you with a new product every 6 months. I'll stick with my 3g for awhile. I'm a little spoiled already when there are starving children all over the world who don't even have shoes.
Erm, of course it's real. The track used in the video is a very complicated one that the 3G has trouble with but the 3GS displays perfectly. You prob won't notice much of a difference when just using basic tracks. Learn to read before posting drivel.
Ya I got 32GB its a shear power compared to 3G. Must have for those who cant make up their mind. When product surpasses its predecessor by at least 2X and up to 4X in some cases in REAL LIFE speed it is worth EVERY penny. 32GB way more than I would ever need. Videos are choppy in darker conditions and really ugly when you or the object you filming is moving. Slow panoramic videos in day light come out great. Video camera will be the achilis heel other than that is way faster than 3G.
This is bull shit what apple has done now every one with the 3G like me are going to buy a game that is not optimized as there is no need on the new iPhone 3GS they just use the brute force of the new CPU.
Well that's the the worst case scenario its up to the developer.
If I were the developer, I'd still optimize. For two reasons. First, to date: 1 million iPhones 3GS, 40 million iPhones, iPhones 3G, and iPod Touches (1st and 2nd gen). So if they make the game perform poorly on the older platforms, they loose a huge market. Second reason is because their customers, like you, would be very unhappy with them. So no good reviews and word-of-mouth marketing. Let's hop most developers think like this.
I actually spent a lot of time optimizing AirCoaster for the 3G and the touch, and it works great on older devices. Remember, AirCoaster was released back in Feb, waaay before the 3GS was announced. ;-)
Also, as can be seen by the original iPhone with it's weak PowerVR MBX GPU yet astonishing gaming performance, it is all about software and optimization. Based on the performance of Windows Mobile/ Windows CE, the Zune HD is going to squander all that hardware.

It's runs crap only on this particular track. Most of my users are iPod touch users and they are not complaining. You can get pretty good fps even on a first gen touch. ;-)

The 3GS actually is powered by a PowerVR SGX Chip, not the Series 2 Chip the Dreamcast had. The SGX features unified shaders, Open GL ES 1.1 and 2.0 Support, higher clock speed and more. The When it comes to Power, dont forget, the ARM Cortex A8 CPU is newly developed, while the PSP CPU is some years old (and besides was developed, based on a VERY old MIPS Core) You cannot tell Performance just because of the clock speed. ^^° (I wont compare them, since their hardware is much too different.)

What demo? This demo is iPhone 3G vs iPhone 3GS.
According to AnandTechs article on the 3GS graphics processor, the 3GS can only achieve 7mil triangles per sec with a fill rate of 250mil pixels per sec at a clock of 200mhz. The PSP can do 33mil triangles with a fill rate of 664mil per sec, which is according to ExtremeTech.
You can easily tell without reading the specs by just looking at games like Resistance Retribution and Midnight Club L.A. Remix.

Are you blind as well? The PSP graphics effect makes it good for a handheld. Look at other handhelds. Also I own both so CURRENTLY, the PSP wins from what I can see.
I looked at the demo and am impressed. I do see that the 3GS has potential due to its faster processor and more ram than the PSP.

Yes and why copy my name... You are partly right. The default clock is 333mhz, Sony has downclocked it to about 215mhz. On a PSP 1000 hacked, you can make use of the full 333mhz whilst on my 3000, you can't as it's not hack so it's stuck at 215mhz. The hacked 1000 with 333mhz clock is MUCH smoother than the 3000 or any other PSP for that matter at 215mhz. Some games clock it a little higher as well though not to it's max of 333mhz.

But also something called a "Media Engine" Which is also @ 333mhz.
Then the graphic card is @ like 111mhz which blows Iphones away, lol.
The media engine is awesome. Its able to render stuff. Real fast. With Amazing visuals (Final fantasy crisis core, assassins creed bloodlines, God of War, exc)

And has that "compass" and sidewalk orientation. And about the bluetooth... it does have bluetooth but it's very very restricted... use some 3rd party apps and you'll get it to work. Erm, of course it's real. The track used in the video is a very complicated one that the 3G has trouble with but the 3GS displays perfectly. You prob won't notice much of a difference when just using basic tracks. Learn to read before posting drivel.

Ya I got 32GB its a shear power compared to 3G. Must have for those who cant make up their mind. When product surpasses its predecessor by at least 2X and up to 4X in some cases in REAL LIFE speed it is worth EVERY penny. 32GB way more than I would ever need. Videos are choppy in darker conditions and really ugly when you or the object you filming is moving. Slow panoramic videos in day light come out great. Video camera will be the achilis heel other than that is way faster than 3G.

If I were the developer, I'd still optimize. For two reasons. First, to date: 1 million iPhones 3GS, 40 million iPhones, iPhones 3G, and iPod Touches (1st and 2nd gen). So if they make the game perform poorly on the older platforms, they loose a huge market. Second reason is because their customers, like you, would be very unhappy with them. So no good reviews and word-of-mouth marketing. Let's hop most developers think like this.

I actually spent a lot of time optimizing AirCoaster for the 3G and the touch, and it works great on older devices. Remember, AirCoaster was released back in Feb, waaay before the 3GS was announced. ;-)

Also, as can be seen by the original iPhone with it's weak PowerVR MBX GPU yet astonishing gaming performance, it is all about software and optimization. Based on the performance of Windows Mobile/ Windows CE, the Zune HD is going to squander all that hardware.
