Fact: Better graphics don't make better games. Gameplay is the first priority. It's only when you have the same game on multiple platforms that you can start talking about graphics.
Fact: Games on PC will almost always look better than on console. You can't deny that right now, the current console generation is about half a decade old while a well kept pc will always have the current hardware. It's expensive, but that's just the price of keeping up with the curve.

BF3 and Crysis 2 weren't just ported onto consoles, they were developed for consoles, and therefore they had a lot of things cut, that might have made them seem "too complicated". Also, BF3 was actually developed FOR consoles, and it shows. Consoles have VOIP, PC doesn't. Console versions are also more stable.

@cronochos OK, It's because that there are some hardware restriction on consoles, or some hard programming skills that makes console games have low graphics. In other side, You can max out graphics on PC because, when there is a hardware limitation, you can easily upgrade your system, and you can program games easier. =)
@unrefillable well yeah!! all games are made on a PC engine but are optimized to run on said consoles.. the chips are over 5 years old so yeah PC will always have better graphics.. by the time the ps4 comes out there will already be a better GFX card thats just how it is.. also they have to program the games to run at a smooth constant frame rate as well so antialiasing get cut out almost completelt except for maybe a few ported games.. nice talking to you man
@cronochos The GP card inside of consoles are from the same manufacturers of PC, PS3 uses the GP card from nvidia, so the xbox from Amd. The thing is fun with PC is you can set up resolution, antialiasing, also more extreme things like overclocking just to get games run better, which you can't do on consoles. Anyway, PS4 will surely have better graphics, but I'm assuming that it is either from nvidia or Amd but midrange level of the GP card of PC. I am also thinking that consoles will copy PC.

We are definitely in diminishing returns territory now. The jump in graphics performance just isn't as great as it used to be. Surely we should be looking beyond direct x for graphics solutions now. Otherwise gamers won't invest in new hardware. I just feel underwhelmed by this demo.
@uberCgs yes. go at their site at the link, and download the basic edition (which just doesn't include performance chart making). i'd suggest you to download their Tropics and Sanctuary benchmarks as well, they're really well made testing tools.
man I love this benchmark it's awesome. I get 85.7fps maxed out with extreme tessellation without antialiasing, so its smooth enough even to use the walkthrough mode to have some fun (jumping the rope bridge is pure lulz)

That card still serves me well (even though the fan controller on it blown up, and i had to hardwire it), under tessellation-specific load the GTS450 will pose a threat. Just accept that the Radeon team has serious work to do with their DX11 performance. speaking of it, new 3960X is 3x faster than the FX-8150/20% on the 980X.. douche ha
@UzumakiNarutoKun96 while the power question is indeed true (but irrelevant, only fags with crappy PSUs worry about that) CF sucks as much as SLI, if I had to pick one, it would be SLI, it's tweakable, unlike the stupid Catalyst AI. Furthermore, 5870s no longer are on par with 480s, their drivers were as immature as the GPU manufacturing, and today (290.xx drivers), 480s outperform GTX570 cards pretty easily in most games, if not all, especially in high resolutions you know.

@UzumakiNarutoKun96 once again, you got facts wrong. 6990 has dual Cayman XT GPUs, 6950s are Cayman Pro. they lack a couple clusters from the XT part, which means it's much faster than the 6950, in fact the 5870 beats the 6950 is most tests, especially the eyefinity edition that has 2 GB and a higher clock speed. furthermore, not even the 6990 can tessellate as fast as a single 480/570/580, it does what you want, fine, it doesn't do it the best or the fastest way.

@UzumakiNarutoKun96 not really. not only unlocked 6950s don't exactly work as nice as 6970s (issues with the lower VRM's, incorrect circuitry and shit) but just only the old HD6950 cards can be unlocked, few months ago AMD started laser cutting the dies on the newer revisions of the HD6950 so it can't be unlocked anymore. and obv a 6990 is 2x 6970, pretty much like the 5970 is 2x 5870
@ctmngr You can still get the unlockable amd cards on newegg.... Also i looked up the 5970 and some benchmarks and the sound it makes is unbearable and it gets really got when pressing it. something you wont suffer from the 69xx cards
@UzumakiNarutoKun96 it's not noisy, really. unless you push up the fan speed, then any card is loud. mine after extensive use, got its fan controller worn off so i had to hardwire the fan, now that bitch's loud. but thing is; don't really care about it being loud, I just care that it gets silly lag on dx11 games over crappy tessellation, and that's just massively hindered by its small framebuffer, the card's too damn beastly to have 1gb usable.

@Graviteh ATI has had a tesselation chip in their GPU for over 6 years, the XENOS(ATI GPU in xbox 360) has had this fucntion for a long time, this is why it's possible to do tesselations on the 360, it's got the chip for it.

If they've done it for so long, why not do it right, because last I checked even the 6990 sucks pretty hard to tessellate shit, and their "awesome bottleneck-removing, dedicated tessellator" in fact does everything but remove the tessellation bottleneck, in fact it causes one. Personally I consider HD5000/6000 GPUs half-assed DX11 cards where you can barely use DX11, they're more like DX10.5

@cronochos OK, It's because that there are some hardware restriction on consoles, or some hard programming skills that makes console games have low graphics. In other side, You can max out graphics on PC because, when there is a hardware limitation, you can easily upgrade your system, and you can program games easier. =)

@unrefillable well yeah!! all games are made on a PC engine but are optimized to run on said consoles.. the chips are over 5 years old so yeah PC will always have better graphics.. by the time the ps4 comes out there will already be a better GFX card thats just how it is.. also they have to program the games to run at a smooth constant frame rate as well so antialiasing get cut out almost completelt except for maybe a few ported games.. nice talking to you man

@cronochos The GP card inside of consoles are from the same manufacturers of PC, PS3 uses the GP card from nvidia, so the xbox from Amd. The thing is fun with PC is you can set up resolution, antialiasing, also more extreme things like overclocking just to get games run better, which you can't do on consoles. Anyway, PS4 will surely have better graphics, but I'm assuming that it is either from nvidia or Amd but midrange level of the GP card of PC. I am also thinking that consoles will copy PC.

We are definitely in diminishing returns territory now. The jump in graphics performance just isn't as great as it used to be. Surely we should be looking beyond direct x for graphics solutions now. Otherwise gamers won't invest in new hardware. I just feel underwhelmed by this demo.

man I love this benchmark it's awesome. I get 85.7fps maxed out with extreme tessellation without antialiasing, so its smooth enough even to use the walkthrough mode to have some fun (jumping the rope bridge is pure lulz)

I tested my laptop PB Tj 75 with intel i5-430m, 4Gb, ATI HD5470, with setting DX10 < no AA, 720P,, I got 9 FPS on average ^^..
I do same with my brother laptop HP AMD P960, 6Gb, AMD 6650m,, It got 15 in average.. this game never playable on medium laptops

That card still serves me well (even though the fan controller on it blown up, and i had to hardwire it), under tessellation-specific load the GTS450 will pose a threat. Just accept that the Radeon team has serious work to do with their DX11 performance. speaking of it, new 3960X is 3x faster than the FX-8150/20% on the 980X.. douche ha

@UzumakiNarutoKun96 while the power question is indeed true (but irrelevant, only fags with crappy PSUs worry about that) CF sucks as much as SLI, if I had to pick one, it would be SLI, it's tweakable, unlike the stupid Catalyst AI. Furthermore, 5870s no longer are on par with 480s, their drivers were as immature as the GPU manufacturing, and today (290.xx drivers), 480s outperform GTX570 cards pretty easily in most games, if not all, especially in high resolutions you know.

@UzumakiNarutoKun96 once again, you got facts wrong. 6990 has dual Cayman XT GPUs, 6950s are Cayman Pro. they lack a couple clusters from the XT part, which means it's much faster than the 6950, in fact the 5870 beats the 6950 is most tests, especially the eyefinity edition that has 2 GB and a higher clock speed. furthermore, not even the 6990 can tessellate as fast as a single 480/570/580, it does what you want, fine, it doesn't do it the best or the fastest way.

@UzumakiNarutoKun96 not really. not only unlocked 6950s don't exactly work as nice as 6970s (issues with the lower VRM's, incorrect circuitry and shit) but just only the old HD6950 cards can be unlocked, few months ago AMD started laser cutting the dies on the newer revisions of the HD6950 so it can't be unlocked anymore. and obv a 6990 is 2x 6970, pretty much like the 5970 is 2x 5870

@Graviteh ATI has had a tesselation chip in their GPU for over 6 years, the XENOS(ATI GPU in xbox 360) has had this fucntion for a long time, this is why it's possible to do tesselations on the 360, it's got the chip for it.

If they've done it for so long, why not do it right, because last I checked even the 6990 sucks pretty hard to tessellate shit, and their "awesome bottleneck-removing, dedicated tessellator" in fact does everything but remove the tessellation bottleneck, in fact it causes one. Personally I consider HD5000/6000 GPUs half-assed DX11 cards where you can barely use DX11, they're more like DX10.5
