PS....the CPU upgrade + graphic card upgrades + ram upgrade will run you around $1200. Never mind the cost of the laptop. If you have one now...it might be worth it to you to upgrade. But honestly....it would be kind of pointless. For the cost of the upgrades you can buy a new XPS Laptop with 16gb DDR3 Ram, i7 Core processor, and dual graphics cards of your choice. And soon dell will also offer 3-D screens for laptops like Orgin is doing already.
I put in a Kingston SSDNOW 128 GB 2nd generation into my friends Dell XPS M1730, and it wont boot at all, just a black screen with blinking cursor. System wont boot even if im trying to boot from the regular hard drive, if the SSD is plugged in. I tried installing Windows Vista and/or 7 on the SSD and it freezes at the language selection.. remove SSD and it works. How did you get your SSD to work? My SSD works on my desktop and my HP HDX 16T laptop.. so i know its a good SSD
I've got the same system m1730 with 9800m GT sli.
The problem is that the games are running very slow.. and 3dmark score is 1950...
There are no conflicts in system and everything works normally. I installed win7 64bit and now xp 32 bit and video are both very slow in 3d..
I installed the newest drivers from nvidia for 9800m GT.
My question: What drivers did you installed?
Thanks!

Saying "go mac" for gaming is like saying race a VW Beetle against a NASCAR.
Or comparing a Saturday-Night Special 6mil to a Vulcan-Mini Gun.
Like bringing wet spaghetti to a knife fight...you just don't do it if you have even half a brain cell.
Believing otherwise is pure ignorance or intensional delusion.

What model of solid state drives are in there? And where can you purchase them?
