@sk8m4f14 actually 6 seconds. Start from ZERO obviously and watch the speedometer, not the tachometer. Maybe someone needs to go back to elementary school math.
It's nice to see people like mpgomatic putting speed runs for different cars like these, because now I can confidently say, with pride and bragging rights, that my 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE 5 speed automatic would kick the shit out of these new 3.6L Camaros..I get to 70 mph much much quicker than what I saw in this video.
" I can confidently say, with pride and bragging rights, that my 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE 5 speed automatic would kick the shit out of these new 3.6L Camaros..I get to 70 mph much much quicker "
Make a video and prove it. I would like to see it. Let me know. The world wants to see your Nissan beat a 5.8 sec 0-60 mph. There was a SE-R Altima in 2005-06 with Hi flow exhaust, stiff suspension, upgraded brakes, 18" wheels, 6 speed manual, did about 6 sec 0-60. Yours? Come on.

"I still don't know why a 50 yr old arguing w/ a kid "
It takes two! You wrote me. I wrote you back explaining. You argue more. Your sarcastic "sorry" & constant ref to my age shows you don't understand, "no replacement for displacement". My age is irrelevant. +30 yrs as driver, enthusiast, engineer, trust me power is NOT out of style. MORE DISPLACEMENT=EASIEST RELIABLE WAY TO MAKE MORE POWER! Turbos & race cars don't change this. Point of "fastest cars"? All have big displacement +6L.
I applogize; it takes 2. I love little high rev'ing turbo intercooled engines in $90,000 sportcars & $1,000,000 rally cars. It's ideal for tiny race cars that jump dirt roads. BTW rally cars have displacement & HP limits. NHRA top fuel 500ci (8.2L, 10,000HP) engines propel cars in 4.5 secs, +300 mph @ 1/4 mi, not suited for 2.0L, 300HP rally cars. Turbos can only do so much. IF YOU NEED more pwr, displacement always will be the easiest most reliable way but must match cars mission.
@gmcjetpilot i dont understand, can you explain to me,waht do you mean by displacement will add much more power than anything to a engine...waht is this "displacement"?
"can you explain to me,waht do you mean by displacement will add much more power than anything to a engine...waht is this "displacement"?"
Sorry I can't explain, didn't say that and don't understand your comment.
As for "waht is displacement", try wiki or google: "engine displacement". Read up on it. As you will see engines are almost always categorized by their displacement or volumetric size (bore x stroke x cylinders), in typical units of: cubic inches, liters, cc.
The avg fuel econ on that trip computer is impressive... 6 sec 0-60 is AMAZING for a car of this price, MPG, low emission and comfort.... It's not a drag car kitties. Most cars, even so called fast turbo, Italian, German cars are in the 9.5 to 11.5 sec plus range. Even a 1967 Camaro SS 350 did 0-60 in 8 seconds, got half to a third the millage, belched out CO, CO2, N2O and NOx like crazy. This is impressive fast... It is a rare few very expensive exotic production cars in the sub 6 sec 0-60.
@gmcjetpilot No replacement for displacement? Sorry, that's just not true anymore in today's world. I love V8s but you can have a Nissan GT-R tuned by AMS go 0-60 in around 2.5 seconds with a 3.8L V6. Only .2L bigger than this Camaro's engine, yet FI and some tuning makes it brutally fast.
@Motorfordtoyota Don't get me wrong. not trying to say its slow or anything lol I love it too; The whole reason I ended up on hear. I'm hoping to buy one after I get rid of my VXR and when I'm bit more older lol
Honestly you can't really go wrong with the V6 "musclecars'" today. If you're looking for outright speed, obviously you probably would want the V8. It's not always about who gets to 60 faster, but just having fun with RWD and some decent power. I mean for 2011 the Challenger, Mustang, Camaro, and Genesis Coupe (yes, the GC) all have 300+ hp, so you just choose the one that feels right! I love 'em all... just whoever gives me the lowest price, haha ;)
@Jrrath Not the same engine, not the same transmission. From what I could gather, the 2007 Impala V6 has 211hp, which is nothing near the Camaro's 304. The Impala also has a 4-spd auto whereas the Camaro has a 6-spd. The Camaro's engine is a DI whereas the Impala's isn't. I'm sorry, but this isn't close at all.
The fastest time I could find for an Impala (non-V8) was in the mid 7's.
@cheekocheeko96 A larger engine would actually be worse, it's more likely to be heavier. There's a lot that goes into determining which car might be faster, but just using the basic horsepower premise, with the Camaro being a coupe, and the Impala being a sedan, the Impala really can't weigh any less than the Camaro (at least it shouldn't) and since I know the V6 Impalas don't make over 300hp it shouldn't beat a Camaro. Not to mention the transmission isn't the same as in the Camaro.
@PantstofryPWNZ lol it really isn't 200 more hp 7.0L and only 100LBS more that is nothing considering you are getting 200+ more hp and alot more torque. The power ratio out weights the weight by alot so the benefit is huge. and this is taking a 427 which is a good size block and they are v8's out there that are actually lighter then alot of V6's
@nawzy202 100lbs is a huge difference in the dynamics of a car. It's not about brute force, it isn't a dragster. and yes, OF COURSE there are V8s out there lighter than a V6, you could take a frickin carbon fiber aluminum tiny V8 and it'll be lighter than a cast iron brick-in-a-box V6, that's just stupid common sense. But compare a V6 and a V8 of the same material, and the V6 has to be lighter.
I like V6s because the car can tear up a canyon, get good mileage, and be competitive.
@Hairyhole1 It's all about when, where, and how you drive it. The V6 Camaro is capable of some good numbers if you drive with a light foot and can avoid lots of stop-n-go traffic. Traffic lights & Stop signs are the enemy. =)
@Hairyhole1 yea its all about how you drive it if i drive with my foot off of my 01 camaro ss i can get 30mpg on hw and 25-26 city its all bout how u drive it
@Hairyhole1 Easy there. Just avoid using brakes and use more engine brake. Instead of braking from 60 to 30 on 60 yards, just lift your foot and do it on 200 yards. You'll have 140 yards gratis of gas and brake discs.
@bblank100 - BULL. My SHO will do 0-60 in 5.2 flat and I dusted an auto camaro in both manual mode and auto mode. It wasn't a 0.3 second difference. It was more like a 1-second difference. Unless you made some mods to it, there is no way that the Chevy LLT engine will do this.
@bblank100 keep dreaming!! 1st off spinning off kills your time and I know damn well your RS aint pulling 5.5 0-60 even down hill its not doing that. Hell down hill with a perfect lift off you are not seeing south of 6 no way no how!!
@mneja123 a manual transmission does 0-60 at a slowest of 6 seconds with a skilled driver and i can buy ur 03 honda accord for $10. And yes the camaro does look unique unlike the ten thousand honda accords i see on the street every day. And let me guess is the cheap japanese paint chipping off that piece of shit too!
Um I really do. I doubt your there viewing me do that. Idc what car you have but by the ways it sounds your cars a piece of shit but hey who am I to judge lol
@xCommando31 An 03 Honda Accord (auto) is around 7.5 and that looked like 7.5 to me. So it is that fast and Camaro's are butt ugly trailer trash. Not much you can do about that either.
I like how all these cumstang, I mean mustang lovers think that camaros are slow. I have a 2010 camaro v6 RS and I make 2009 and 2010 gts look like shopping baskets.
lol, I have an 03 honda accord and it can perform that well if not better, ive never put the petal to the metal and I take off faster than that while keeping the engine under 5000 rpms for the most part
@IAMC9H13NO3 If a person likes a Mustang more, yes it will shit on your Camaro. Grow up, practically no one drives over 60 in the city in this thing called "real life". If you do, you're just wasting gas and racing someone who isn't going to redline their car. Your Camaro also is made by a company that needed 50 bil. dollars from the gov. Got real "shit" on the Mustang now huh. Its a thing called preference. Look it up.
There really isn't alot of differences in the power being made by the new Mustang GT and the Camaro SS. Both cars are making 340 to 360rwhp and even if it has a stick shift it won't be that much of a difference to care. 7 seconds for a V6 sounds about right to me. Even with the stick shift it won't beat that by much. The weight of these cars hinders them and big rims don't help.
i just got a 2011 camaro v6 and to the guy that said the mustang gt shits on the ss......i smoked a gt from a dead stop and from a 30mph roll sooo dont talk shit till you drive one
yes i hve a cool air intake and a programer and a stage 2 clutch and i smoked a 2011 gt 5.0 my dad has the ss with 4:10 gears with the same intake and he smokes 2011 gt's all day and dodge srt's like i said dont judge till you drive one
@stevenhiggles Hahahaha maybe your faster than this guy that posted the video in your altima, but don't mislead people it's still rated with a slower 0-60 than the camaro. A professional driver would hands down beat your altima. Get a GTR and then brag about performance...
@rpo11231 Yep haha, thats why the SS version is a lil slower than the new GT mustang. The Mustang weighs as much as the V6 camaro. My car weighs just under 3200
man i have a 95 camero 3800 series 2 5 sp. rated 99 hp less and it will smoke that new dohc v6. and makes power off idle where the new motor dont make shit till high rpm. junk new cars
Skidoo, they will adjust the speed sensor to match the increase in diameter... those are factory 21's, mind you. They're not going to sell you a car with a inaccurate speedo...
@BossTracKey I agree that the car should be significantly faster then that. As noted in the description, this automatic V6 Camaro was fitted with the optional 21-inch wheel package. We saw significantly better times with a manual V6 Camaro equipped with smaller wheels.
The big question:
How does wheel/tire size/weight effect 0-60 MPH and 1/4 mile times?
@mpgomatic We need to compare the diameter of the tires. If they are bigger, the gears are longer... But I think that time is just normal to a 1700kg automatic v6... USA Car and Driver tested the manual v8 and gone in 4.8s In Brazil car and driver tested 5.8s in the automatic V8. THE GM AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUCKS! The manual V6 goes on par with a auto v8.
@mpgomatic "How does wheel/tire size/weight effect 0-60 MPH and 1/4 mile times?"
Ya it effects a lot...bigger wheel and tires will give a good grip but slower acceleration...U will never see any drag race of any car with 18" rims or bigger...
@mpgomatic smaller wheels are easier to accelerate, and also automatic transmissions dont have as 'direct' of power transfer compared to a manual transmission. hope that helps!
its a bit quicker than that, i rented one and did some tests myself. check out my video, this is the AUTO, i threw it in manual mode and let the tires spin abit and it got to 60 faster. i got the video to prove it :)
@mrdannyization wow EVERYTHING you just said is WAY fuckin wrong. the mustang v6 is faster (by ALOT)handles better gets better MPG, has way better interior looks and function and you can isnt the size of a boat , and you can actually see out the left side of the mustang, camaro has a 6 inch blind spot form its fuckin pillar, ive test drove both. Mustang > camaro hands down
Don't get me wrong i like it but for the money of the new camaro i would get me a 98-02 z28 or ss with the LS1 and probably still have enough money left for heads/cam and have a well over 400 hp IMO better looking car.
that seems slow

@bblank100 keep dreaming!! 1st off spinning off kills your time and I know damn well your RS aint pulling 5.5 0-60 even down hill its not doing that. Hell down hill with a perfect lift off you are not seeing south of 6 no way no how!!
cubbfann08 7 months ago
@bblank100 so tell me how are you getting that number? friend with a stop watch or are you counting after you step on it???
cubbfann08 7 months ago
@bblank100 so you are only a 1/2 a second slower than the ss ??? hahahahahahaha

@bblank100 My 2.0L ralliart, does in 4.9 ;(
jecht86 7 months ago
i know that car can do 0-60 in alot faster.
we just did a run 0-170 kmh in about 8 seconds! so i am sure you can do better than that. just drive it like you stole it buddy!
eyekadniistore 9 months ago
And no a camry does not do 0-60 in 5.8 it does it in 7.8 you should really research this stuff before you start shouting out random numbers
xCommando31 9 months ago
@mneja123 a manual transmission does 0-60 at a slowest of 6 seconds with a skilled driver and i can buy ur 03 honda accord for $10. And yes the camaro does look unique unlike the ten thousand honda accords i see on the street every day. And let me guess is the cheap japanese paint chipping off that piece of shit too!
xCommando31 9 months ago
about 6.8
kuhndog52 9 months ago
Even a Camry v6 does 0-60 in 5.8. So yeah
mneja123 9 months ago
@mneja123 Trust me its not 5.8 more around 7.5-8, my friends has that shitty car and cant keep up to anything.

Even if ur 03 honda accord was that fast.... Which it isnt. It still looks like shit and theres not much you can do about that.
xCommando31 10 months ago
@xCommando31 An 03 Honda Accord (auto) is around 7.5 and that looked like 7.5 to me. So it is that fast and Camaro's are butt ugly trailer trash. Not much you can do about that either.
mneja123 9 months ago
I like how all these cumstang, I mean mustang lovers think that camaros are slow. I have a 2010 camaro v6 RS and I make 2009 and 2010 gts look like shopping baskets.
Mr420chiefa1624 10 months ago
@Mr420chiefa1624 You really don't. I don't have either. I have a Bonneville ssei that will kill both the cars.

lol, I have an 03 honda accord and it can perform that well if not better, ive never put the petal to the metal and I take off faster than that while keeping the engine under 5000 rpms for the most part

Look it up.

MercedesFUN1 11 months ago
There really isn't alot of differences in the power being made by the new Mustang GT and the Camaro SS. Both cars are making 340 to 360rwhp and even if it has a stick shift it won't be that much of a difference to care. 7 seconds for a V6 sounds about right to me. Even with the stick shift it won't beat that by much. The weight of these cars hinders them and big rims don't help.
IROCwarriorAMC88 11 months ago
i just got a 2011 camaro v6 and to the guy that said the mustang gt shits on the ss......i smoked a gt from a dead stop and from a 30mph roll sooo dont talk shit till you drive one
pta32100 11 months ago
@pta32100 are you telling me you smoked a 2011 gt with ur v6 camaro ? because this is insane !
because the camaro ss does not stand a chance with the 2011 gt !
HAYSQ 11 months ago
yes i hve a cool air intake and a programer and a stage 2 clutch and i smoked a 2011 gt 5.0 my dad has the ss with 4:10 gears with the same intake and he smokes 2011 gt's all day and dodge srt's like i said dont judge till you drive one
pta32100 10 months ago
@stevenhiggles Hahahaha maybe your faster than this guy that posted the video in your altima, but don't mislead people it's still rated with a slower 0-60 than the camaro. A professional driver would hands down beat your altima. Get a GTR and then brag about performance...

MIketucky350 1 year ago
Skidoo, they will adjust the speed sensor to match the increase in diameter... those are factory 21's, mind you. They're not going to sell you a car with a inaccurate speedo...

how da fuck do u turn the manual on ... i have the automatic.. and i cant figure this shit out! .. i put it on M an she shifts on her own!
bo3adlah90 1 year ago
This is a bad video. That was around 7 seconds, and the car is much faster than that.
BossTracKey 1 year ago
@BossTracKey I agree that the car should be significantly faster then that. As noted in the description, this automatic V6 Camaro was fitted with the optional 21-inch wheel package. We saw significantly better times with a manual V6 Camaro equipped with smaller wheels.
The big question:
How does wheel/tire size/weight effect 0-60 MPH and 1/4 mile times?
mpgomatic 1 year ago 17
@mpgomatic the total diameter size because if the tires are bigger then you are traveling faster than your speedometer says
Skidoo1412 1 year ago
@mpgomatic not hard to understand if you own a brain!
mentalmonkey26 1 year ago
@mpgomatic
Quite a bit indeed! Wheels are rotating masses which should be as light as possible.
Airox2009 1 year ago
@mpgomatic We need to compare the diameter of the tires. If they are bigger, the gears are longer... But I think that time is just normal to a 1700kg automatic v6... USA Car and Driver tested the manual v8 and gone in 4.8s In Brazil car and driver tested 5.8s in the automatic V8. THE GM AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUCKS! The manual V6 goes on par with a auto v8.
eclampsium 1 year ago
@mpgomatic "How does wheel/tire size/weight effect 0-60 MPH and 1/4 mile times?"
Ya it effects a lot...bigger wheel and tires will give a good grip but slower acceleration...U will never see any drag race of any car with 18" rims or bigger...
Sourav70406676 1 year ago
@mpgomatic i would think it would be the extra weight of 21 inch wheels and the fact that a larger diameter wheel = slower acceleration
gtakilla22 10 months ago
@mpgomatic smaller wheels are easier to accelerate, and also automatic transmissions dont have as 'direct' of power transfer compared to a manual transmission. hope that helps!
Boggle122333 9 months ago

Nice video. If you want a camaro get the v8 version in my opinion...these v6's are too heavy and therefore slow.
Looks great though :)
pre9jm 1 year ago
@mrdannyization wow EVERYTHING you just said is WAY fuckin wrong. the mustang v6 is faster (by ALOT)handles better gets better MPG, has way better interior looks and function and you can isnt the size of a boat , and you can actually see out the left side of the mustang, camaro has a 6 inch blind spot form its fuckin pillar, ive test drove both. Mustang > camaro hands down
krypekeeper 1 year ago
Don't get me wrong i like it but for the money of the new camaro i would get me a 98-02 z28 or ss with the LS1 and probably still have enough money left for heads/cam and have a well over 400 hp IMO better looking car.
