Besides, this performance has many deviations from the well-known studio recording, both in tempo, vocal colour, the free 'rubato' rhythm, and sometimes even the notes (0:39, 2:02). It's just impossible to lip-sync a song with this many variations. What you hear is 'natural Kate'. They hardly make 'em like this anymore.

I was 17 at the time and she appeared on Saturday night LIve. I had never heard of her before but her performance was etched into my seventeen year old memory. I never heard of her again in the US, but 4 years later while an art student in NY I was able to purchase her albums, all of them. I have been a fan ever since. She is amazing right?
