Alright a you haters who will be doomed in the last days: poke all the fun at us you want. But you don't see us making fun of jew or buhddists or methodists etc. Why? It's not good to do it
If your god is omnicient, why is ancient book the only medium he is capable of using to spread his message. You'd think he'd be capable of something a little less archaic and misunderstood. @lookforthetruth11 by the way we beleive FULLY in the bible and the b.o.m. as well. and we don't worship joseph smith in anyway we worship our savior Jesus Christ that's what the definition of being "Christian" is. I'm studying the bible again this year and I love it! :) alot of people are way off on the church that it's hard not to laugh :) half of the info out there is false facts and false rumors in the media an throughout the world
Mormons have to lie to themselves everyday all religion is bull but man is it obvious joe smith was a fraud and there whole book is based on lies and there whole religion as practiced by joe smith and brigum young was centers on multiple wives but even though they were prophets of god tax exempt status is more important. What a joke wake up from your indoctrination
Jews in Yemen have existed in isolation from their coreligionists for nearly as long as the Jaredites and Nephites, and yet they still spoke an intelligible dialect of Hebrew, read the Torah, gave their children Biblical names, kept the Laws of Moses, and were distinctly Hebrew in every other area of their life. Why did these New World Hebrews speak unrelated languages, pray to Quetzalcoatl and Viracocha, write in Mayan glyphs or Qipu knots, and name their children 1 Hunahpu and Pachacutic?
Hahahahahaha I can't decide is this a parody? Mormons are a parody of christianity which is a parody of itself. Please people stop believing in stuff just because your parents lied to you and claimed to know the mind of god(is it possible to be less humble than that) we are all atheists about every god ever invented except our own, some just wake up and go one god further.
@truefreedom2011: if you think Mormons worship Satan, then you need to look at the name of the church: THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS
Are you fucking kidding me with this shit? I would say more but My stomach hurts from laughing too much...in fact, I am about to bust a lung...ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hey, did you know barbara streisand was really an alien. she becomes mecha-streisand with the triangle of Zenthar! Its an ancient Sith holocron. ha!
According to a prominent, Mormon, FAIRblog contributor man can, indeed, intelligently, honestly and reasonably conclude from the evidence that “manifestations by the Holy Ghost” and other varieties of religious experience are not really of divine origin; that God is not as Mormons and Christianity believe him to be; and that the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Book of Abraham are not of divine origin or literal history.
American Indians are not of the lost tribes of Israel ... DNA evidence has proved this... and what happened to all the ancient ruins left by those who supposedly had large cities populated in the millions ... Mormonism is such a big lie and is NOT the Word of God but Lucifer/Satan father of lies.
the book of mormon is a complete fabrication and the only truth in it comes from the Bible... joseph smith was a 33rd degree freemason and was not divinely inspired but demonically just as freemasons are ... he was killed in a gun battle where he killed two men for revealing the secrets of freemasons to outsiders... go to a mormon temple and you won't see one cross ... nothing but upside down pentagrams (satanic) and bulls heads (demon worship) ... Jesus was NOT lucifer's brother ... get real
I guess so..so that means that the Solutreans that made it across the ice cap from Europe after the migration through Beringia were from ancient Israel too. But where is that missing 14,400 years? And how come the Mormons jump right over the stone age, who made all those Clovis points that are scattered all across North America? I always thought it was the folks that crossed over from Asia....And the guys and gals in the film look pretty un-Asian to me.
Outstanding!! I agree and, "Verily I say unto thee let us ignore +15,000 years of the fossil record and believe in the words of the holy prophet Joseph Smith and his giant wooden ships that could circumnavigate the globe." And further, "let us cast opposition to the truth of Nephi and Big Joe into the dirt and grind it into the dust of the balance under our hobnail boots."
Guh....good intent, bad budget. I didn't know Nephi was a Jedi Knight! I just can't watch this movie. It's horrible. I'll stick with the 2 books of Nephi.
When we die we are judged by Joseph Smith? Joseph Smith died for our sins and made a bigger sacrifice than Jesus Christ? Wow
There is a council of god's and the head god elohim had two sons one was the devil and one was Jesus and he sent Jesus to earth and had sex (yes actual sex) with the virgin mary to produce Jesus. Wow you guys have a very believable religion!
You guys all arguing over religion are f*cking retarded. How much time have you spent coming back trying to get the upper hand. Whatever "word" you're trying to spread is tainted because of your lack of GENUINE sympathy and the ability to let it be.
How come the second coming did not happen when Joseph Smith gave us the date? - "It is the will of the Lord that those who went to Zion, with a determination to lay down their lives, if necessary, should be ordained to the ministry, and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, or the coming of the Lord, which was night -- even fifty-six years, should wind up the scene", Joseph Smith Jr., 1891, (The History of the Church, vol II, page 182)
Mormon history? Do we get to learn about Joseph Smith as a fraud who practiced mysticism, necromancy, and polygamy? To learn that the world is only 6000 years old, and that the native American's were not from Asia, as science has proved, but from Israel?
@DrOstentorious Christ practiced necromancy. twice that we know of. It never says the Americas were void of people, it says just the opposite. The Mormons were a very small part of the population.
"There arrived in this land a man whom they called Quetzacoatl... His countenance was white and he wore a beard. His manner of dress consisted of a long white robe... He was considered just, saintly, and good, teaching them by deeds and words the road to virtue... He gave them laws and sane doctrine... He said that in the year that would be called Ce Acatl, He would return and then His doctrine would be accepted, and his children Lords and heirs of the earth."
We read in the Book of Omni that “Mosiah discovered that the people of Zarahemla came out from Jerusalem at the time that Zedekiah king of Judah, was carried away captive into Babylon” Omni 1:15. We cannot be sure that the Mulekites departed from the port of Sidon, however, circumstantial evidence suggests that they were transported by the sea faring Phoenicians. The port of Sidon was their major port around 600 BC.
name Sidon was undoubtedly a name given by people of Zarahemla, also referred to as the Mulekites, to the major river that ran through the land of Zarahemla in the new world. The port of Lebanon, which is south of Beirut, is also called Sidon. Sidon is a Hebrew or Semitic word which means “fishery” or “fish waters.”
@cjdallas85 Again your weak position is dubious at best. You got nothing. give it up trying to pick on Mormons. We are the church of God, and it the only true church on the earth and it's baptisms are the onlys only ones that count. The foundation of our religion is the 12 apostles with the apostolic authority tracable to Jesus Christ.
Well it's true, they bash and talk trash and make false truths and lies about us. The facts still remain facts. Jesus Christ started a church with a Foundation of Apostles with authority to recieve the revelation to lead His sheep. But that foundation was killed off and the Apostacy begun.
Joseph Smith restrored the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Lord Commanded it to be so. The restoration is biblical.
Soulmage if you like the bible much then why wouldn't you want more of it?? You obviously have not read the book of Mormon so before you diss it READ IT and then you see if you feel the same way
"We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God." Anyone who is an honest seeker of truth can get to know for himself if the Book is Mormon is indeed a word of God just as the Bible is. Both of them testify of each other and testify of Jesus Christ. I know because I've been studying both sacred books for years. Study along with prayer will enable everyone to know the truth.
@wilmenda Serious question: What exactly is a "personal witness"? Is it a message from God? Did you hear God talking to you? Out loud? In your head? Was it a written message? Did you have a vision of God? Or was it just a feeling? How did you know that was a message from God?
@wilmenda The truth is that the Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible on dozens of occasions, the prophets and apostles contradict each other! The temple ceremonies are based on Masonic rituals, Mormons believe that black people bare the mark of Cain and have changed revelation in an attempt to seem less racist! The Mormon church raised $22million to take away the rights of gay and lesbian marriage in California! Makes Nazism look tame!!!
@tattoodfreeek Get over your lies. You got nothing. How about you go back to your PS3, because it's obvious you parrot shills got more to do in life than lie about the church of Jesus Christ. The temple is based on the temple of Solomon that was the true one, and it is the same. It will be LDS temples that are build in Jerusalem when the LORD returns.
BTW your name tells us allot about you. That the truth is not in you.
@LDS4Life71 My name tells you a lot does it? I think 35 years in the LDS church says a lot! And what lies? You don't have to look too far to find proof of all I've mentioned above! It's sad that people are so sucked in by the lie that is the Mormon church! A religion created by a con man, a religion no better than Scientology! And why go to a MORmON web site for more of the lies you've been indoctrinated with? Open your eyes and do some real reading!
@tattoodfreeek I don't have to read, because I own a Kindle. Joseph Smith was undoubtaby a true prophet of God, and he sits at the table with the other prophets of God. I have been a member for over 40 years, and you got nothing. I really pity you.
@LDS4Life71 Well, considering there is evidence that Jo Smith was a convicted felon, guilty of fraud, swindling and embezzlement, I kind of feel sorry for you! He must have been damn good to still have 14 million people fooled today! If you aren't willing to do a little bit of digging, then you'll get what you deserve! Jo Smith, like Thomas S Monson today was a fake, a charlatan and as far from being a true prophet as I am!
@LDS4Life71 And sadly, you only know the rubbish that the church has force fed you! Maybe someday you will open your eyes and see for yourself the contradictions and the lies the church tells you! And I hope you do, so you can feel the true love of Christ! You have my sympathy
@LDS4Life71 Have I Mocked any Christian? No, I'm just trying to make you aware of the lies of MORmONism! MORmONs are not Christians! Right from the word go, MORmONs have called Christianity the Whore of Babylon, said that Christians were swimming in darkness!! MORmONism has condemned Christianity, and now want to associate themselves with Christianity!!
Sadly, you've proven that you're completely blinded by a false religion, and what a hateful individual you are
@tattoodfreeek I am born again, and the epitomy of Christian. The church of Jesus Christ is restored, and the apostacy and restoration of His church is completely biblical.
@tattoodfreeek Of course God loves me. I'm part of HIS church.
Jesus saves, but not in our sins. We are expected to repent. The cities which were destroyed were unrepentant even after many warnings. Let us learn from their mistakes. Let us be saved by the great Atonement of Jesus Christ by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel. And live by the Spirit so as not to be deceived.
@wilmenda I hear what you are saying because I too had this mindset. What do you think about the book of Enoch and the Gnostic Gospels of Thomas and the Gnostic Gospel of Mary? Read a bit about how the Bible came into being. If you had a child would you want him not to do drugs because you said so or because he's made an informed decision not to? Same thing here... make informed decisions. Read a bit of history on the Bible.
@wilmenda Do you just repeat everything your leaders tell you? I heard that exact same quote and was taught it. Think for yourself instead of being a sheep. The Bible contradicts itself and so does the BofM and D&C
As if The Holy Word of God was not enough for us. Books that compare itself to the Word of God are simply abominations to the Truth. As if God didn't get it right. These are the workings of man alone. Next they will need a New Christ because the one who was Sent by God wasn't enough teach the book of Mormon. A Second bible, third bible, fourth bible, fifth bible, sixth bible, seventh bible and so on in this fashion. They say they follow God, but do not keep HIS Word but their own!
The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible and is a record of God's dealings with His chosen people in the New World. The main purpose of the Book of Mormon is "to the convincing of Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD, manifesting himself unto all nations." (Book of Mormon Title Page) It was written by ancient American prophets for our day (Mormon 8:35) and is an American testament of the Lord Jesus Christ.
@zionram Well archaeology hasn't yet been "done" there yet. And which hill are you referring to? The one in NYC named by David Whitmer or the one in Guatemala where the battle took place?
Actually scholarly archaeology has proven the ancient meso americans stamped out the Nephites, and Teotihuacan was a Nephite city found empty, and that the temple of Quetzacoatl, the white bearded God, will soon reveal the truth that the ancient meso americans did sealings and templework.
"Book of Mormon cities have been found, they are well known, and their artifacts grace the finest museums. They are merely masked by archaeological labels such as "Maya," "Olmec," and so on. The problem, then, is not that Book of Mormon artifacts have not been found, only that they have not been recognized for what they are. Again, if we stumbled onto Zarahemla, how would we know? The difficulty is not with evidence but with epistemology." John E. Clark, Professor of anthropology
@LDS4Life71 And these "artifacts" that you claim support Book of Mormon have been objectively studied and authenticated by what unbiased sources?? National Geographic Society?? Smithsonian?? Any Non-LDS affiliated university's schools of Anthropology and/or Archaeology???? By what Central American Government's Dept. or Ministry of Antiquities?? You make some mighty big claims for someone who has so little to support them!!
Why all this talk about "truth" and "proof"? We're not talking about a court of law here; we're talking about a religious faith. Yes, "faith"; you either believe a religion is true, or you don't. Could the Hindus prove that all the gods they believe in actually existed, and did the things described in their holy books? No. Does that make Hinduism invalid as a world religion? No, it doesn't.You're confusing "faith", with "proof" and "evidence."
@Hoosiercorporal You're confusing faith with truth. Truth welcomes objective analysis & critical scrutiny. Given the claims of BoM, there should be clear, discreet, scientific evidences to support it. Truth is not ascertained through fervent feelings, "burning in the bosoms", testimony, or faith. If BoM is not founded in truth, then all you have is faith rooted in falsehoods. If BoM IS founded in truth, their should be a plethora of credible, independently authenticated evidences to support it.
There is no such thing as darkness, only the absence of light. There is no such thing as cold, only the absence of heat. You say things must be seen or heard, touched, or smelled in order to be true. you say there is no God. Why because you haven't seen him? Well i'm not so sure that you have a brain. I haven't seen it, I haven't heard it, I haven't touched it or smelled it. So according to you, you don't exist. I guess that's where faith comes in isn't it?
@nosnurb100 Apparently, your "powers of discernment" are as lacking as those of LDS's so-called "prophets". I've never stated that "there is no God". I'm far from being an atheist. As for your doubts about whether or not "I have a brain"?? Those are doubts coming from someone who believes in a "prophet" who stared at magic rocks in his hat??
ROTFLMAnti-MormonAO!!!!! ROTFLMAnti-MormonAO!!!!! STILL ROTFLMAnti-MormonAO!!!!!
Then all you simply have done is contradicted yourself. You say the book of mormon is not true because it lacks what truth requires- scientific evidence. Yet you believe in a God for which there is no scientific evidence of. Faith is believing in something not seen, then you must not believe the bible is true either, seeing as you haven't met the writers, and you weren't around during the time period. "I am the same yesterday today and forever". Yeah we read the bible.
@nosnurb100 Your premise is flawed. Study. The sciences of astronomy, zoology, human anatomy & physiology, geology, oceanography, and other sciences clearly support the existence of a "God", although my perceptions of that higher power are clearly outside the mainstream. As for The Bible?? Certain parts of it ARE supported by the sciences, just as other parts of it are discredited by the sciences. As for The Book of Mormon?? A total FAIL.; not supported by the sciences at all.
@Hoosiercorporal Wrote: "Why all this talk about "truth" and "proof"? We're not talking about a court of law here; we're talking about a religious faith."
Amen!! Why would any thinking person want to muddle their religious beliefs with such trivial matters as "truth", or "proof"??
Mormons are very strong about ancestry and yet genetics now conclusively prove that there is no Jewish blood in any native American. Despite some poor attempts by church leadership to whitewash this issue, what does that say about Levi, Moroni and the whole 'ancestry' of the Church of the Latter Day Saints?
Any archeologist worth his salt will tell you that if there is a battle where millions of people died in a relatively small area, there is NO WAY you can have a battle that large and not leave a single trace of evidence, even thousands of years later. The Bible's battles can and have been traced, even though they are much smaller in size. There is proof that it actually happened. The best the BOM can do is try to twist findings to match their viewpoint. You don't have to do that with the Bible.
Actually @RoliQc, your comment is very subjective and simplistically incorrect. Yes, this one is a fraud, but if you genuinely seek the truth, then you will find the truth. Not all religions are the same.
@robatrhema Well, it depends on what you mean by seeking the truth. People who are religious usually don't seek vey hard, they tend to take things on, well... faith. So I don't quite understand where you're coming from when you use the phrase "seek the truth" in relation to religion. I think that's what scientists call a paradox.
@LDS4Life71 Ok, There is absolutely tons of evidence against what you are saying. But lets just go down this road for a minute. Even if that was, as you suppose, "mislabled", that was evidence that was found. What about the evidence NOT found. Specifically on mount Cumorah. There was supposedly several huge battles there, and there is absolutely no archeological evidence to support these claims.
@LDS4Life71 Furthermore, the plant life spoken about in the BOM doesn't exist in the regions that the claims speak of. Wheat over thousands of years, doesn't just stop growing in an area.
This just looks sad. Didn't they already mess up the first version, so this one should be done right? Peter Jackson should direct anything done on the book of mormon than it would be totally awesome to see. LOL
I will agree that reading the book is way way better.
@LDS4Life71 sure it's Biblical that they were pricked in their hearts because they heard it. Truth certainly has an emotion attached to it. Lies also have emotions attached to it. I'm not saying that emotions aren't a part of life, I'm simply saying that one cannot ultimately judge truth based simply on how they "feel". Many feel there is no god, and many feel their is. 1 must be wrong. Both sides are just as sincere as the other. People can be sincere, but they can be sincerely wrong!
@aaronjames05, I'm not trying to mock it, but the entire religion makes a mockery of christianity. People can point to this and say, "Look at what 'christianity' brings you, people believing in stuff that is just absurd, and has absolutely no proof of being truth. Other than "that's how I was raised" and "I have a warm fuzzy feeling deep down" is there any concrete reason for believing the accounts given in the book of mormon?!? You ask me that about the Bible I can give you plenty of evidence.
@Cristy16Ioan Again the turning away from the original truths, and accepting false doctrines from the 1st-3rd centuries is documented. The restoration of the church of Jesus Christ is biblical.
@Cristy16Ioan Apostles, and bishops are not the same calling. The church was destroyed, and reconstructed by the emporer Constantine, and didn't have any authority from God. The foundation of apostles was removed, and the church was left in the air void of a foundation, and revelation. The church was infultrated by wolves dressed in sheeps clothing. Constantine and his friends were those wolves. Don't be decieved. Revelation 14:6-7 indicates the church would be restored.
There was a breakdown from Within and from without the Original Church, the apostles couldn't replace the spots fast enough as the people around them were not ready to accept the truth in their day either and the Apostles were killed by wickedness.
Like any structure with no foundation the original church fell into darkness and interpretation of men.
Constantine and his non Christian, uninspired friends of Nicea were NOT true christians, and were the wolves that entered the flock and destroyed it utterly as he decided to start baptizing infants, and putting the mark of the beast on their foreheads as revelation speaks of.
@aaronjames05 What a mockery Mormonism is. Its sad. I have very good friends who are mormons. However, they are just wrong. They are just believing a lie. There is absolutely NO proof to what the book of Mormon says, unlike the Bible which is FULL of verifiable truths.
youtube.com/watch?v=dTtq62XQ4jw
It's plain as day if you are honest with yourself. The book of Mormon is nothing but a lie, and Joseph Smith will be destroyed for the lies he taught.
I never saw a movie made which was better then a book. When you read the book, your mind is working as well as your heart. The movie is playing with mostly visual effects. To get the most out of this movie you truly have to read the book, in this case, BOM.
Some of you may be calling me names and whatever it will make you happy, But 1 thing is true, if you consider yourself a christian, you'll respect others believes.
If I'm wrong, & you are right, the time will come when we'll know the truth
eh, doesn't seem a epic from what I imagined as a child when I read the damn thing. It'll be a good addition to the B-rated fictional section at your local movie store...
Well, the book was an alright read so I suppose I'll watch the movie. From an atheist's point of view I find religion so fascinating... It's like mind control. Brilliant.
The English speaking world recognizes "scripture language" as found in the KJV, such as thee and thou, and certain verb endings (goeth), but the BOM avoids archaic (17th century) vocabulary such as "ken" (to know) or "shew". In general it uses contemporary vocabulary.
I have no interest in continuing this conversation here, so if you have additional questions you know where to find me. (I don't need "backup", thankyouverymuch.)
And do you believe that you will get your own harp in heaven. Will you get music lessons or will you already know how to play it. Will you have a halo?
This is called the cartoon version of religion. Harps, planets, halo, etc. It's easy to mock someone's religion to make it seem absurd.
And do you believe that you will get your own harp in heaven. Will you get music lessons or will you already know how to play it. Will you have a halo?

i just wish they'd include a map with it. dont forget to explain how all those animals, metals, and plants disappeared after these fictional events were over.
i hope they show joe smith (a kid) running through the woods with a 200+ pound golden book leaping over logs and stuff. he must've been one stout feller.
@cdowis well, that certainly explains joseph smith quoting people from the 17th century (parentheses like these were clarifications, not actually in the greek and hebrew manuscripts) when he translated it from 600BC language into 19th century english.
to clarify here's what joseph smith said he did: read something written in 600BC, translated it into 17th century english (which was copied nearly exactly like the KJV for some reason), and he did all of this in the 19th century... right?
@cdowis which part is correct? there are thousands of reasons why the book of mormon falls to pieces when it comes to evidence but just one of those is that it quotes the king james bible (quotes that are not in the greek manuscripts) when the book of mormon was supposed to have been translated from plates that were written 2300 years before the king james bible was written... how do you reconcile this logical hole?
You are asking some very intelligent questions. I will be happy to post your question on mormondialogue org, General Discussion. I will give my answer, and put it up for general discussion (both LDS and critic). We need for you to give specific examples, and we (LDS and critics) can respond. It does not lend itself to a "quickie" answer here on youtube. You can also make some followup comments.
@cdowis i have no interest in wearing myself out on a mormon forum trying to give biblical truth to people that dont want it. i asked you a question, if you can't or don't want to answer me directly just say so and move on.
You can leave this Earth believing in Him in which case then you will either meet Him with open arms or He just won't exist and ... oh well.
Or you can leave this Earth NOT believing in Him after living a life of discrediting and denouncing Him and the you will either find out He doesn't exist... oh well OR you come face to face with Him in His wrath and your final judgement not be pleasant.
It really doesn't make much sense to live the second way.
if the creator of all things is as loving as most religeon would suggest do you honestly think he or she would justify arguing with, and placing judgement upon others in his or her name? If this creator is a loving creator do you truely beleive that he or she would seek eternal damnation for those who do not beleive exactly as you do? I'm sorry but I find the anger filled comments beneith me to be so incredible and ironically dissingenuous.
Always easy and unfortunate for those who know little about something to criticize it. You call people names who believe in God when in fact you too have a belief. You believe there is no God. That too is a belief. One that can no more be proven than those who believe he exists can prove that to a non-believer. I, like many others who know God is there, have gained that witness by seeking Him and then experiencing things that are vivid displays of His presence.
emerging from mormon circumstantial evidence, post DNA mormon apology, story line.
The new story of Lehi arriving to a already inhabited americas would have meant that he greeted Mayan Culture , as is found. What the book of Mormon fails to describe is Mayan stone pyramids, Mayan culture , language, native fauna and flora. Instead the book of mormon describes Hebrew refugees of a totally different culture.
@kramd1 WRONG! Have to read the whole book which tells of the people that came before nephi, traveled there at the time of the scattering of the people from the tower of babel, inhabitated that continent and went astray. That part of the book of mormon describes people coming from egypt who would've built pyramids, statues and other middle eastern like cultural buildings, tools, and decor.
@opticalpig The Jaradites built the pyramids in america ? who then built the Mayan ziggurats Classic period (c. 250 AD to 900 AD) The Jaradites, acording to the Bof M story, were wiped out. That leaves Nephi arriving to be Mayans. Mormons claim Mayan Nephite / Lamanites built these pyramids.
The B of M fails to mention stone ziggurat pyramid building. Fails to mention native fauna and flora. Does not fit.
Alright a you haters who will be doomed in the last days: poke all the fun at us you want. But you don't see us making fun of jew or buhddists or methodists etc. Why? It's not good to do it

Jesus was NOT lucifer's brother ... get real

@EthanNin0

LDS4Life71 4 months ago
name Sidon was undoubtedly a name given by people of Zarahemla, also referred to as the Mulekites, to the major river that ran through the land of Zarahemla in the new world. The port of Lebanon, which is south of Beirut, is also called Sidon. Sidon is a Hebrew or Semitic word which means “fishery” or “fish waters.”

Actually scholarly archaeology has proven the ancient meso americans stamped out the Nephites, and Teotihuacan was a Nephite city found empty, and that the temple of Quetzacoatl, the white bearded God, will soon reveal the truth that the ancient meso americans did sealings and templework.

Hoosiercorporal 5 months ago
@Hoosiercorporal You're confusing faith with truth. Truth welcomes objective analysis & critical scrutiny. Given the claims of BoM, there should be clear, discreet, scientific evidences to support it. Truth is not ascertained through fervent feelings, "burning in the bosoms", testimony, or faith. If BoM is not founded in truth, then all you have is faith rooted in falsehoods. If BoM IS founded in truth, their should be a plethora of credible, independently authenticated evidences to support it.

Yeah we read the bible.
nosnurb100 4 months ago
@nosnurb100 Your premise is flawed. Study. The sciences of astronomy, zoology, human anatomy & physiology, geology, oceanography, and other sciences clearly support the existence of a "God", although my perceptions of that higher power are clearly outside the mainstream. Despite some poor attempts by church leadership to whitewash this issue, what does that say about Levi, Moroni and the whole 'ancestry' of the Church of the Latter Day Saints?
robatrhema 5 months ago
Any archeologist worth his salt will tell you that if there is a battle where millions of people died in a relatively small area, there is NO WAY you can have a battle that large and not leave a single trace of evidence, even thousands of years later. The Bible's battles can and have been traced, even though they are much smaller in size. There is proof that it actually happened. The best the BOM can do is try to twist findings to match their viewpoint. You don't have to do that with the Bible.

Acts 20:29
Constantine and his non Christian, uninspired friends of Nicea were NOT true christians, and were the wolves that entered the flock and destroyed it utterly as he decided to start baptizing infants, and putting the mark of the beast on their foreheads as revelation speaks of.

@zionram shut your mouth! after you die, all of the judgments you said in this book will come to your countenance.

@zionram LET'S SEE.. :)) it's okay that you dont believe in our religion. but if you mock us, without givin us a respect, that's not right.

@Cheshu1
Have you ever read the Bible, the Old Testament? Obviously not.
cdowis 6 months ago
@cdowis we know that. why? we read it. I bet that your'e reading it too.

If I'm wrong, & you are right, the time will come when we'll know the truth
mgrodko1 6 months ago
eh, doesn't seem a epic from what I imagined as a child when I read the damn thing. It'll be a good addition to the B-rated fictional section at your local movie store...
adriank1223 6 months ago
Well, the book was an alright read so I suppose I'll watch the movie. From an atheist's point of view I find religion so fascinating... It's like mind control. Brilliant.
molliemeoh 6 months ago

It's easy to mock someone's religion to make it seem absurd.

i just wish they'd include a map with it. dont forget to explain how all those animals, metals, and plants disappeared after these fictional events were over.
i hope they show joe smith (a kid) running through the woods with a 200+ pound golden book leaping over logs and stuff. he must've been one stout feller.
anonazero 6 months ago
@anonazero
The plates "had the appearance of gold" and weighed only about 40 pounds according to the witnesses.
cdowis 6 months ago
@cdowis well, that certainly explains joseph smith quoting people from the 17th century (parentheses like these were clarifications, not actually in the greek and hebrew manuscripts) when he translated it from 600BC language into 19th century english.
to clarify here's what joseph smith said he did: read something written in 600BC, translated it into 17th century english (which was copied nearly exactly like the KJV for some reason), and he did all of this in the 19th century... right?
anonazero 6 months ago
@anonazero
This is only partially correct. May I suggest that you go to the web site mormondialogue where both Mormon and critic talk about such questions.
cdowis 6 months ago
@cdowis which part is correct? there are thousands of reasons why the book of mormon falls to pieces when it comes to evidence but just one of those is that it quotes the king james bible (quotes that are not in the greek manuscripts) when the book of mormon was supposed to have been translated from plates that were written 2300 years before the king james bible was written... how do you reconcile this logical hole?
anonazero 6 months ago
@anonazero
You can also make some followup comments.
cdowis 6 months ago
@cdowis i have no interest in wearing myself out on a mormon forum trying to give biblical truth to people that dont want it. i asked you a question, if you can't or don't want to answer me directly just say so and move on.
anonazero 6 months ago
@cdowis i simply asked you which part is correct. surely you can say so without needing backup.

It really doesn't make much sense to live the second way.
opticalpig 6 months ago
if the creator of all things is as loving as most religeon would suggest do you honestly think he or she would justify arguing with, and placing judgement upon others in his or her name?

Instead the book of mormon describes Hebrew refugees of a totally different culture.
kramd1 7 months ago
@kramd1 WRONG! Have to read the whole book which tells of the people that came before nephi, traveled there at the time of the scattering of the people from the tower of babel, inhabitated that continent and went astray. That part of the book of mormon describes people coming from egypt who would've built pyramids, statues and other middle eastern like cultural buildings, tools, and decor.
opticalpig 6 months ago
@opticalpig The Jaradites built the pyramids in america ? who then built the Mayan ziggurats Classic period (c. 250 AD to 900 AD) The Jaradites, acording to the Bof M story, were wiped out. That leaves Nephi arriving to be Mayans. Mormons claim Mayan Nephite / Lamanites built these pyramids.
The B of M fails to mention stone ziggurat pyramid building. Fails to mention native fauna and flora. Does not fit.
