  • What kind of song is it? Typycal Irish? It's a great performance!

  • Best ending to any session in Dublin Town. I love the buses careening around the corner. My heart pangs.

  • Looks like fun, both for them and for the people listening.

  • I can't help but smile at this.

  • i recognise the guy at 58 sec i think he is from wexford

  • love these guys, love the song but this is not a good rendition

  • what is the name of this song ?

  • @MssCrosh the auld triangle

  • Anyone know the chords ???

  • @bigballsno1

the verse is G C Em Am C

    and the chorus is G C Em D G

    I think.

  • 2 of my fav Irish, both had similar style but still different on writing and singing but one thing they sing their heart out.

  • Both great. Who makes better music together though...Glen/Marketa or Damien and Lisa?

  • @JimmyChiffels

I think they are both good. I think Glen has a little more inflection of his emotions into his playing style. My favorite things about Glen is that not only do u hear his anguish in his words and voice but u hear it in the guitar. I think that Damian is a little more subdued at times but that also reflects a lot of the songs that he has done.

  • i wished i was there. to me they are my biggest idols.

  • Very good, fantastic ...^^

  • Who do you guys believe is the better songwriter, singer, and guitarist? I personally think Damien is a better songwriter, Glen is the better guitarist, and the singing is up in the air, because their styles are so different.

  • @jshu1988 i agree damian uses alot of metaphors and symbols when glen concentrates on the melody more. (listen to alot of the background parts)

Singing... I personallyy prefer glen because he screams more and thats just my thing.

When i need more depressing music i need damian

  • @JimmyChiffels I agree with your assessment that Damien is a much more depressing songwriter, while glen's songs are more bittersweet. Who do you believe to be the better guitarist though?

  • were it all began, Full circle. still humble.

    Kathawren

  • I love how damien sings at 3.06. They're brilliant.

  • Please Glen and Damien, please release an album together.

  • see ,,the best things in this world are free.....

  • i visited ireland this year and I also visited doyles. I was so unbelivable happy.

  • I was there...i am the loser in the white and green flannel

  • EH NEAL SOON WE PLAY AGAIN

  • Two of my favorite artists, doesn't get much better! Although I agree Glen is the superior one out of the two.

  • i hate how everyones jumping on the glen hansard bandwagon ever since he won an oscar for once!!!!!!like it just annoys me....if you only discovered him then...you must have lived under a rock your whole life!!!!because the frames are amazing!!!!and i suggest if you havent already checked them out..that you do!!!!

  • @the359crew so you'd rather if noone had ever heard of him and probably would never get a chance to?

Why don't you run that by glen? I'm sure he much prefers being a nobody and having barely a place to lay his head compared to his relatively newfound hollywood life, Maybe you could convince him to give it all up for good.

  • @jtriffo no i didnt mean it like that..i meant that the frames have been around years making good honest music...like his songs have a real passion!!!and its only NOW people have discovered them!!thats what annoys me..not the fact that people have discovered him,but the fact they only discovered hiom now considering he's been making amazing music so many years!!!!!ps he was never a "nobody" anybody who knows music woould know hes something special as soon as he starts singing!!!

  • @the359crew to be honest your just annoyed because your one of those people that cant listen to music when it becomes popular. Is that because you think you've somehow discovered Glenn Hansard. News flash---He's been about for a while.

  • @djseamie think you'll find im trying to say he's been about awhile so "news flash" learn how to read....never said ive discovered him in any, way, shape or fomr!!so again your wrong...but i do think he should get the recognition he deserves for his music BEFORE once....and "annoyed" because hes famous...hardly...the frames are still the most listened to thing on my ipod/laptop and i have every album they and glen solo has made....sooooo wrong again....but seamie thanks for they reply anyways.. :)

  • Some bald spot Damien has got there

  • shite. overrated tossers

  • @chemicalsunday here u have no idea how good these are look up falling slowly by glen hansard and cold water by damien rice. theyre amazing! have u seen once ? didnt think so. u rock guys!

  • whats the name of this song??

  • i hate being italian

  • omg 2 of my fav singers 2gether in mi country yyyyyyyy wasnt i there :(

  • it's beatiful to hear both great men singing together. Thanks for posting!

  • These two are my favorite artist ever... and just finding a video them almost made me tear up!

  • When i first say glen hansard in "Once", i thought he looked like damien rice, and even sounded like him, and even the guitar. No surprise to see them both here. Both are great muscians.

  • @guitargodslash89

Glens been around a LOT longer than just since doing "Once", and I gota disagree with the similarities you mentioned, they're very different in all respects... Last part I very much agree on though, two great musicians :) Though I personally feel Glen is a Million times the musician that Damien is.. ( I like D. Rice, dont get me wrong, but Glen is a master above masters)

Only way to top this, is to watch Glen and Mic Christopher together, pure magic :)

  • @PajoLee I never said glen wasn't around before "Once".I said i was introduced to him by that movie.Your opinion is your opinion but what i found interestingly simialr was more superfical. For example, the beard, the hair color, even the height, the guitar looks very simialr to an old one damien plays, and yes to me there is some similarity in the way their songs are made, slightly.Like the acoustic guitar and his voice being the main focus of their songs.ias to whos better, its subjective...

  • @guitargodslash89 You seem to be under the mistaken impression that I was making a dig..?

I just wouldnt consider the two boys to look anyway similar really (apart from the obvious that they both play guitar) I mean, I'm tall and have long hair and beared, but I dont look like every other person whos tall long haired and beared.. thats all like.

far from having a go tho, I was more commenting on the part I do agree on, the quality of the music etc..

  • @guitargodslash89 just given my choice between the two, it has to be glen all the way.. complete legend like! Damien aint far behind like (mind u, took me a while to get into his stuff)...

  • Two of my favorite musicians ever. Beautiful. (:

  • Cant believe I missed this. Was told that day by a friend that these two were playing Doyles that night in a supposed secret gig but had a flight to catch. Glen Hansard is a legend!

  • fantastic!!!!!

  • i was there,was brilliant

  • Two of the greatest musical poets of our times.

  • And they're both Irish! :)

  • Seperates irish musicians from the rest of the world! they get amongst the fans and play for the love of the music!!

  • thanks.lol

  • OMG WHAT A BUNCH OF LUCKY PEOPLE x

  • These are two of my favorite musicians currently living. Seeing them together makes me so happy!

Does anyone know what the story with Glen's guitar is? It's the same one he uses in Once and any video you see of him, he's using it. Given it's obviously seen better days, I'm assuming it's his first guitar or something, but don't know for sure. Anyone know?

  • He has a "Takamnine" (the one with a hole) since he was 15 or so. And as you can see and hear it sounds great... but not while ago, a 63 year old widow saw "once" contacted Glen on his myspace and gave him her`s late husbands "Martin". In some recent videos you can see he has a new guitar, the widow`s gift, a "Martin".

    Hope it helped!

  • Thanks so much; I love the sound of it, almost like it's hollow and amplified simultaneously. Cute story about the widow too. You're the best!

  • nah nah , no point arguing taste but if there was I would argue for Damien.

  • This would be my perfect dream come true

  • @nintendor81 I wholeheartedly agree. :D

  • exactly why i wish i lived in ireland...

  • I agree!!!!! :D

  • @dyonus Yes , maybe in future ;)

  • @dyonus Me, too!!!!!

  • @dyonus Me, too!!! Me, too... Exactly...

  • @dyonus The first time I see the movie Once and hear Glen's song I couldn't help but think of Damien

  • They are like night and day, light and dark, melancholy and joy. And together, it's perfection.

  • was asked lately by a friend glen hansard or damien rice? i said glen hansard hands down! discuss lol

  • @smurphy47 glen's much better craic than damo!! they just don't compare

  • Can't believe I just happened to come across a comment by you on a youtube video.

    - Flynn.

  • it`s great..i´m keen...love you damien

  • It's called "The Auld Triangle."

  • I like it, but Damien only sing the chorus... or that seems :P

  • Wow, that hole in Glen's guitar just keeps getting bigger and bigger! It still sounds great though!

  • Thank you, siltirocker! =)

  • was this on 7th october? or was it only posted on 7th october? And where exactly was this in Dublin? (street =) ) thx!

  • It was on the night of the 6th at Doyle's pub on the corner of D'Olier / College Green.

  • beside hawkins /fleet street.

  • oh, so natural and sincere..

  • How did I miss them that night, was just down the road!!!

  • literally my two heroes

  • mine too cant believe i missed it :(

  • well luckily im from dublin so i might get another chance =)

  • yeah me too makes it all the more sad that I was so close though :(

  • ah well! sure next time eh? =D

  • Perfect!!

  • Holy cow!

  • I wish we had seen that day. (rather night) We were in Dublin just about a month back. Walked past there several times. Catching a moment with Glen still busking would've been fantastic!

  • Never thought I'd see the day . . .
