I might be getting one of these little guys soon. I had a Beardie, but she died early, so I want to get something different in order to not feel I'm replacing her. Would you say a 4ft by 1ft by 1ft viv is appropriate? Making it deeper and taller however is not a problem.
@theportmaniac Never grab a bluey like this. It will definitely piss it off and in some cases may even break the lizard's neck. I know this for a fact
@justnatural Don't pick up wild animals. I mean no offense to you but wild animals are unpredictable and it could end up biting you giving you a nasty wound that gets infected and ends up killing you. Wild animals aren't our play things, they just want to live their lives in peace. If you are trying to relocate it that is one thing but otherwise just leave it be, admire it in its natural environment and see if any pet stores sell them as pets and get one that route.
@Norcalbowhunter yes but I think you missed the part where I said it had a Tick on its neck. The reason for picking it up for fun but to remove the tick from its neck. But what ended up happening was my brother visited and ended up picking it up straight away and removing the tick. Secondly I was told after this that Blue Tongues have a natural resistance to ticks anyway, but also they can bring ticks on to your property so to be wary of this. Infected and killing you? bit overdramatic lol
@justnatural If a wolf came into your yard covered in ticks would you chase it down to remove them? Wild animals are just that, wild, it is natures course leave nature alone. As for dying from infection, as a nurse who has seen people die to infected animal bites let me reassure you it is possible. You have to remember that animals like this, they like to eat dead things. And dead things are covered in diseases that will kill you and me. So yes bites can get infected and kill humans.
@Norcalbowhunter yes but people also die from being hit by a bus walking across the road, its called law of chance and probability, and the chance of being bitten and dying from infection from a blue tongue lizard, well do I have to even go there? As for your rant about animals, let me ask you are you a severe left green party member? Do you believe all zoo animals should be set free? Are you a vegetarian? If you answered yes to all these questions, enough said!
@justnatural Yes you do have to go there. Want to know why? I have seen people in my profession forecd to have their arms amputated in order to stop the spread of infect. You want to know how they got those infections? They punched another man in the mouth. A human being has enough bacteria in his mouth to cause a grown man to have to amputate his arm after punching him and cutting his fist open on the other mans teeth. What kind of nasty shit do you think is in a blue tongue lizards mouth?
@justnatural Oh and to answer your second question. Look at my name, do you think I am a vegetarian? I must be one of those freaks who enjoys killing animals but doesn't eat them I guess. No I am a man who feels that the world has a natural balance, and its not our job to play god and try to fix that balance. Also if you see a lizard in your yard with a tick on it, you already have a tick problem. So i wouldn't worry what that thing dragged into it, id try to take care of the problem that exist.
@justnatural I am sorry if I came off as an asshole, that was not my intention. Just be careful when handling wild reptiles. Even if they are not venomous they can still bite and a infected bite is no fun. If you really want to help wild reptiles make sure to wear leather gloves. And again I apologize if my previous comments came off as rude, it was not my intention.
I own a BTS and a beardie, and I love them both to pieces. To be honest, their personalities are really similar and I wouldn't trade either of them for the world. ^_^
I live in a po-dunk town in KY anyway, so neither beardies nor blue tongued skinks are commonplace here.
@x0HERPER0x great choice too. Cause The Blue is really calm. CB obviously. I have done alot of research on them. People now are starting to look for them but they are not as popular as the Beardie. Both animals are cool. But The Blues are very very calm. Extremely intelligent. They have common sense. Weird, common from a reptile. I got to handle a huge Male and a Female. They both were so sweet. And they are so clean and smooth. Awesome animal. I will be posting s video when I pick mines up.
He's an old fella. Just look at his gestures. He's been around for quite sometime.
A very healthy speciman.
How old is he? And do you know of anyone with vids feeding baby broadheads? I have a baby one and I'm looking for sugestions on meals... cuz he's SMALL! :P
You're right. Back in the day, we used to have at least three all round our house during the summer, and even one through the winter. Now, we've only got this one and it seems to have gone walk-abouts.
He's an Eastern blue tongue. They're all over the place here. He first appeared in the garden as a kid, and I've managed to tame him enough that he comes round and doesn't mind to be handled a little.
Yeah, he used to hang out underneath our a/c unit. Then when we found out he was there, we left meat for him. Then he started coming out whenever someone went down there, which was funny because our clothesline is right next to it. So we'd hang up the washing and he'd be crawling round our feet.
Hey guys rip off on blue tongue skinks?get on for 12$ at my house my yard is INFESTED

blue tongued skinks are, in my opinion, a bit easier to handle, and bearded dragons are more jumpy. get a skink if ur a beginer.

what kind of cage do you need for a blue tongue lizard? does it have to be a certain temperature or something?
dames94 3 years ago
You probably do need some sort of temperature-moderated tank, but ours is a wild one that hangs around our garden.
