It's a clever and slightly amusing song but I must agree with Supervegan and Dissruptance. It takes the piss out of a serious matter. If somebody made a very humorous racial joke I would laugh. But if that somebody was very clearly a racist, I would not laugh.

There's a difference depending on who tells the joke. If a vegeterian were to do it, I would laugh, because obviously it's a joke. If a meat eater were to do it, I would not, because that means they don't understand the density of the situation.

With all due respect I don't see how he's being a "selfish arse" or how his song "sucks dick". Now, I'm sure I'm going to have abuse hurled at me for even insuating this, but I'm guessing most of the people who didn't like the song are vegetarians... As far as I can see it's just an amusing and whimsical song, not the declaration of some kind of Holy War on vegetarians or small furry creatures.
