Should I be worried about heat damage? When I straighten my hair with the maxi glide I use an 8 setting to get it bone straight like Pretty Dimples. My hair laughs at settings 1-6...

PrettyDimples is my favorite youtuber, but I am sooo happy I saw this, because I was concerned about her repeating colors in her hair. I made a mistake putting color in my hair previously, it didn't damage my hair, but I know for sure if I would have continued it would have gotten damaged. It hurts me to see this video of Dimples but I am happy she posted it. No more coloring for awhile Dimples!!

It depends on your hair whether it will change when you color it. Because my hair stylist used Elumen color and all my curls went straight. I had to grow the color out to get my curls back.

@biscuitsbiggestfan I like many things that I see in this young woman's videos, therefor, I won't respond any further, except to say that, as I initially stated...and it is a FACT - bleach is harmful and possibly fatal and not conducive to healthy hair. If it were good for your hair they would not be selling conditioners to fix the after effects of bleach and perms.

If you look at women especially white women who bleach their hair, their hair is thin, and now they are getting weaves, clips, etc. There is nothing healthy in "artificial" or "chemical". Let's not get silly; No I wouldn't put rosemary oil in my eye, any more than I would rub an onion in my eye, because I can read and therefore know both have there place and purpose.
@biscuitsbiggestfan It has nothing to do with belief, rather, what the facts are. Bleach is not only something you should not put on your hair, it tells you on the label, not to let that stuff come in contact with your skin, eyes and if it is ingested, to "PASS GO" and get to the hospital. My point is, "that ain't natural". I'm not spinnin' nothing. ijs it's not natural. That is my point.
Please know that when you put bleach in your hair there is a RADICAL change to your hair, a change that is not that much different from puttying a Ammonium Thioglycolate (curly perms) or sodium hydroxide (straightening perm), or the guanidine hydroxide (the perms that "claim" no lye" - it doesn't "contain". Either way none of this is good for your hair or scalp. ijs If you must use a color, try using cellophane colors instead. "Sebastian" makes great cellophanes and so does "Jazzing".
I am not understanding. Your promote natural hair and natural hair care, but you would put bleach or recommend bleach as any sort of treatment for your hair. My belief is, if you can't eat or drink it, it probably doesn't belong in or on your body, with the exception of shea butter and certain soaps. wow.

@domink574 actually..getting your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks will keep your hair healthy which is how you stimulate hair growth. You can go pray that all those products for a fast overnight hair growth will work. But the truth is keeping your hair healthy is the only way it willl grow. There is no miracle growth strategy. Go get it trimmed, then take really good care of it and watch how fast it grows.
@foreverxyours3456 You cannot stimulate hair growth by cutting as hair is dead. Cutting your fingernails cannot stimulate their growth either as the nail is dead.
trimming hair is not necessary unless you have split ends and you are trimming off the splits. You cannot stimulate the formation of hair growth at the follicles by cutting hair this is a myth.
@ Dominick it definitely will not make your your hair grow faster. Check out keep it simple siesta, there are tons of great info on there about hair growth.

@Dominick574 removing damaged/split ends and stopping damage from moving up the hair shaft (trimming) helps you keep the hair that you grew from the scalp.
holding on to damaged ends can cause of a lack of hair length retention as you could be loosing more hair from breakage than from small trims twice a year.
removing damaged hair and having a regimen tailored to your hairs needs are what result in hair length retention as far as external treatments go.
@Dominick574 Nope - hair does not grow faster if it is trimmed as it is dead. . Cutting your toenails does not make them grow faster - this is the same principal.
If you have split ends and trimming of the splits will preserve the shaft by stopping the split travelling up the hair. That is about it.
Since you are natural, are any of your clients natural too? May seem like a silly question but some Natural Stylers specialize in Natural hair only. I would love to have you work on my hair!

Do you work out? If so, how do you maintain your straight hair while working out. Because it is now cold in Florida (I live in Tampa), I'd like to take advantage and flatiron my hair. However, I recently started P90X which causes me to sweat alot, including in my head. Do you think it would be pointless to straighten or can you advise on some tricks to maintain my striaght hair while doing some strenuous workouts?

@biscuitsbiggestfan I like many things that I see in this young woman's videos, therefor, I won't respond any further, except to say that, as I initially stated...and it is a FACT - bleach is harmful and possibly fatal and not conducive to healthy hair. If it were good for your hair they would not be selling conditioners to fix the after effects of bleach and perms.

@biscuitsbiggestfan Buys into what stuff. wow. If you look at women especially white women who bleach their hair, their hair is thin, and now they are getting weaves, clips, etc. There is nothing healthy in "artificial" or "chemical". Let's not get silly; No I wouldn't put rosemary oil in my eye, any more than I would rub an onion in my eye, because I can read and therefore know both have there place and purpose.

@biscuitsbiggestfan It has nothing to do with belief, rather, what the facts are. Bleach is not only something you should not put on your hair, it tells you on the label, not to let that stuff come in contact with your skin, eyes and if it is ingested, to "PASS GO" and get to the hospital. My point is, "that ain't natural". I'm not spinnin' nothing. ijs it's not natural. That is my point.

Please know that when you put bleach in your hair there is a RADICAL change to your hair, a change that is not that much different from puttying a Ammonium Thioglycolate (curly perms) or sodium hydroxide (straightening perm), or the guanidine hydroxide (the perms that "claim" no lye" - it doesn't "contain". Either way none of this is good for your hair or scalp. ijs If you must use a color, try using cellophane colors instead. "Sebastian" makes great cellophanes and so does "Jazzing".

I am not understanding. Your promote natural hair and natural hair care, but you would put bleach or recommend bleach as any sort of treatment for your hair. My belief is, if you can't eat or drink it, it probably doesn't belong in or on your body, with the exception of shea butter and certain soaps. wow.

@domink574 actually..getting your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks will keep your hair healthy which is how you stimulate hair growth. You can go pray that all those products for a fast overnight hair growth will work. But the truth is keeping your hair healthy is the only way it willl grow. There is no miracle growth strategy. Go get it trimmed, then take really good care of it and watch how fast it grows.

@foreverxyours3456 You cannot stimulate hair growth by cutting as hair is dead. Cutting your fingernails cannot stimulate their growth either as the nail is dead.
trimming hair is not necessary unless you have split ends and you are trimming off the splits. You cannot stimulate the formation of hair growth at the follicles by cutting hair this is a myth.

Is it true hair grow faster if the ends are trimmed? I'm only 7 months natural and I don't wanna lose any hair, but if it help my hair grow I'll go get it trimmed.. Thanks to anybody that answer!! :-))

@Dominick574 removing damaged/split ends and stopping damage from moving up the hair shaft (trimming) helps you keep the hair that you grew from the scalp.
holding on to damaged ends can cause of a lack of hair length retention as you could be loosing more hair from breakage than from small trims twice a year.
removing damaged hair and having a regimen tailored to your hairs needs are what result in hair length retention as far as external treatments go.

@Dominick574 Nope - hair does not grow faster if it is trimmed as it is dead. . Cutting your toenails does not make them grow faster - this is the same principal.
If you have split ends and trimming of the splits will preserve the shaft by stopping the split travelling up the hair. That is about it.
You cannot stimulate something that is dead.

Do you work out? If so, how do you maintain your straight hair while working out. Because it is now cold in Florida (I live in Tampa), I'd like to take advantage and flatiron my hair. However, I recently started P90X which causes me to sweat alot, including in my head. Do you think it would be pointless to straighten or can you advise on some tricks to maintain my striaght hair while doing some strenuous workouts?
