  • harmonies. last chord in verse progression is a straight up F# barr chord.

  • tis good. needs high harmonies and the last chord on the verse is a F# major barr chord.not just the same thing with F# bass. nice job though! oh and dont mimic dennis...

  • You're covering Styx, lose the biker look

  • Not bad. Both the guitar and the lead vocals are very good.

  • AMERICA! Fuck yeah!

  • lose the compression on the vocals and you've got something.

  • They ran a compressor on the main mix. We didn't know about it till we got the final tape back and we were not happy about it.

  • Way to go guys> styx should be remembered!!

  • @wakaw07 > They will be, as Styx will be on tour this summer.

  • Yes I'm aware, seen them twice with Dennis and too many times to count with the current line up. Except I'm starting to feel a little used. Every tour is basically the same. Sometimes they change it up a bit and play something different but usually its the same set list more or less. I honestly don't know if i'll go see them again without a new record. I'd love to see Styx take some chances and take a shot at something new..recording wise and incorporate dennis, keep Gowan though he's earned it.

  • these boyz r off da chain

  • Nice job

  • amazing cover styx is amazing and u did a great cover rock on

  • Good job guys. That's a tough song for any band to try and cover especially without a keyboard and second guitar.

  • For without DeYoung a vocals, impressive

  • That's NOT styx - thats SHIT

  • fantastic!!! just watchout for the 'plosives on that mic ;)

  • Well done! Agree with folks who say this one is challenging (not quite as challenging to sing as Come Sail Away perhaps). Not a criticism, just a suggestion that second vocals go falsetto on the harmonies. Lead vocals damn close to spot on... almost as good as me 30 years ago (just kidding)... wish I could still hit those notes :-) Overall, very impressive cover.

  • wow great tribute sounds great keep rockin!

  • Most of the haters don't know that styx onced owned!

  • Damn Fine!!!!

  • that was really good. I still love styx's version way better because of dennis deyoung, and only 1 person is singing the chuorus

beside that, its (also, i love James's Youngs guitar solo better, the only thing i hated was the "America..." part)

  • sucks!!!!

  • wow thats really good i thought it was the accual styx for a minute until i was accually looking

  • wow excellent cover. closed my eyes and thought i was actually listening to styx. good job.

  • I liked everything but the back up vocals, far too soft. If you guys had a light show going it probably woulda be quite a show to see you guys play it.

  • I don't care what the other's say about you guys playing this song, But I thing you guys did a very good Job, I wouldn;t pay much attention to the haters ... let see them play this song as good as you guys have .. smile and be proud Rock on thats what it's all about.

  • I really like it and the haters can say what they will, what do they know? Thanks for posting this. Nothing but high praise for you on this end.

  • Very awesome cover guys! Styx has some pretty technical music and DDY's vocals are hard to match. You did great. Keep rockin'!

  • You guys rocked it. Everyone is a critic. Rude comments are only a major sign of jealousy! Keep rocking boys!!!

  • I think this is the best STYX cover of this song I've ever heard. Most singers would never attempt this song.

  • Nice try, but second guitar/keyboards needed for this one. As well second singer who can somehow come close to J.Y or Tommy Shaw's vocal range.

My band does this tune and Come Sail Away, they're not easy vocally.

  • Well, let see... Both guitars play the same thing all the way through the song, so a second guitar is not "Needed". The only distinct keyboard part is in the middle, but we cut that part out. Our singer does a fine job on this song. If you can do it better, post a video before being the critic. Pos something.

  • wow man, if your not open to critic, dont post your stuff out man and dont quit your day job is my piece of advice to you guys.

  • A critic is to critique. All I see is insults. Should I go with the majority of the comments of with a couple insults?

  • you have 13 posts dude!! Hes just sayin that the 2nd guitar shouldnt be playin the exact same thing all the way through the song, and that the voice is not quite it. thats is a critique or an opinion if you will and i think hes right, i didnt say you sucked, and this is a hell of a tough one to play too, but sorry dude i see no insults there....

  • Seen them play it live a few times and both guitars are playing the same thing. Look at the live performances on youtube and you will see what I am talking about. I don't mind Critics one bit, but atleast be right about what you say.

  • no dude both guitars are not playin the same, maybe you overrate your ability to play it by ear. check out a styx tab book youll see. but anyways why do i keep on loosing my time here for?? Your so good you could sell a million albums in the states alone in less than a year, just find an agent who shares your point of vue (that the band is flawless) and youre a millionaire. (sorry about the sarcasm but people who think their shit doesnt stink tend to anoy me,always have to agree with them)

  • First off I never said my shit doesn't stink. We are just a frekin cover band for the most part. And second, yes, both guitars are playing the same parts. But whatever.

  • Way to tell em! he don't know S%^T!

  • WOW! I love styx and thought I would check out this video cause Dennis DeYoung has such a great voice and always get a kick out of people who think they can sing like him but can't. This is not the case for you guys. You guys did a great job! I was very impressed. Everyone wants you to be like the original but you can't be, but MAN you were pretty close. Dennis likes to hold notes a little longer in the end...sometimes to long! LOL He also can hit higher notes but all in all you were great.

  • To cover this requires a vocalist with a strong voice/decent tone-the vocals were good here, especially when you consider the audio quality is obviously just a simple mixer fed by scattered mics for the amps and drum kit-I know the guitar needs more mids in the distorted & clean tones, the kick needs a punchier snap, bass is too low in the mix and the vocals need less lows, more mids and a slightly longer reverb decay, nonetheless these guys are actually playing this song quite well.

  • sounds good..great job..I would like to see the cum guzzling daddy fuckers that that were ripping on your work do a better version and post it see we can rip on them and their work....

  • Dude, you should try a mic stand. You've got this weird: "I don't know what to do with my right hand" thing goin' on.

    ...would look better...

  • Sounds Great to me! Love this song.

  • love this tune, good job!!

  • Ignore the other clods who posted here. Excellent job. The singer has some excellent control and sustain

  • Sorry guys ...giant biker dude doing this....and whats with the gay combat boots...do some PANTERA or something....Band...lose the singer...ff to the 90's at least!...or just lose the biker wannabe

  • Perhaps you would rather see some fag in spandex so you can get your jollies?

  • I like styx better

  • I like your mom better

  • No offence but just remember who wrote the song... STYX

  • lol wow would have thought youd be a barotone rather than a tenor. pretty good suprising how close your voice is to styx. hey dude you look just like somebody i knew about 10 years ago in the navy.

  • not bad
